Hi Tom! Just like a few others here, for me it's not very important to get a lot of extra material for the $1.25 I pay. I just very much appreciate the way you go into depth with seemingly straightforward engineering subjects like the air engine, the trebuchet etc. This is inspiring stuff and I just want to help you spend the time and buy the equipment you need to keep it up! Looking forward to many more interesting videos!

me too

I'm probably not your most common type of patron but for what it's worth I have never downloaded any STL files but just want to support you. I think the projects that you do, the thinking and work behind them and showing people the ups and downs and solving problems that arise simply makes the world better and should be encouraged. Keep doing what you do and no need to explain everything :) it's your channel and your patreon account, don't forget

They are that good. I learn a lot from your experimentation.

Looking forward to it. As a fellow flying toys enthusiast I'm more than open to a collaboration if you ever need extra large parts (I designed my own large Delta printer for that reason, lookup the monster kossel v2 on thingiverse if you're curious)

Nice! Let me know how it goes! Thanks

Tom Stanton

Thanks for the kind words Steven!!

Yes it is a risk changing the format, however I've chosen to do it because I feel it'll be better in the long term. I want to give more back to the people that support $1 per month and don't end up downloading the files. Plus I gain quite a lot of information from each project that I end up cutting out of the main video. So changing Patreon from a 'product purchase' transactions, to an information/entertainment subscription seemed better. Thanks very much for the support!

Yes I want to work a few 'extra info' videos as well. For example, with this weeks video about the dual cam exhaust/inlet valve system, I want to run through how I designed the cam and also what issues I ran into with the valves. This will most likely be uploaded to Patreon over the weekend. Thanks!

Thanks Charlie!

Thanks man!

"You probably don't download many files..." haha... I don't download ANY files so not really losing anything. Good luck, keep making the videos.

Hi Tom - I understand what you need to do - I dont provide my pitiful support to you for the files - they are worth way more than that. Way in the beginning when you were raking in about $5 per month I really liked what you were about and were trying to do - I still do. I'm sorry its only $1 per month but you are getting there - about a 1/6 of a fair return. Am happy to keep on going if you are happy to have us slackers with you. Cheers KRCNZ

I'm too lazy to unsubscribe to you, so i'm still onboard. haha. just printed the paramotor V2 in red ystd and it looks amazing!

I think I may have downloaded one of the 3D printer STL files back at V1 of the air engine. I get the majority of my enjoyment designing my own files, so I only come here for inspiration and motivation. I'm really curious to know how the exhaust valve works for your engine because it seems like pushing the air out the restrictive valve would be less efficient than letting it come out under it's own pressure with a port at the bottom of the stroke. Maybe the best system would be a combination of the two. The exhaust valve would merely open to prevent the upward stroke of the engine from compressing the air in the cylinder and meeting resistance on the upward stroke? Just a thought.

I came for the hovercraft STLs which I've yet to start) but decided to stay because you have some really cool and interesting projects. I'm going to stay for the support!

I don't download anything but I like your videos so that is why I support you through Patreon. I also know how bad Youtube ad revenue is.

Hi Tom, I’m just supporting you because I really like the way you think things through, and the video’s are very entertaining and educational. I don’t even have a 3D printer, although I might be able to use one in the future at work now that I’m thinking about it. I keep all the channels at $1, to be able to support as many as possible, but I could maybe help you out in a different way. We got accurate flow sensors at my job, which you could use to measure the flow and test the efficiency with different pistons, valve setups, v-configs etc. I can send you one to use with the compressor, together with some better tubes and fittings (no more leaks..)! Let me know if you’re interested, don’t need any special mentioning or sponsor name in the vid, just think it might get the project on a higher level. Regards, another Tom

Hi Tom, I've been supporting you for only a couple of months now and I think your videos are cool as man. They are very educational and have learnt so much from its great. Keep up the great work and I'll be with you all the way. Many thanks.

Hi Tom, been supporting you on Patreon for just a month or two and I admit, a main reason for doing that were the STL files for the hovercraft and RC paramotor ... I think that this might be a case for many other of your Patreon supporters as well. Even though your decision of making STL files publicly accessible I'll still continue to support you, even with only a dollar per month. I understand your decision of going public with the STL files, I'm just worried this may cause a drop of your new-to-be supporters, maybe because they are not that interested in the behind the scenes and want just the STL files, which they may get for free soon. There may be people that are just signing up for a support, download files and then cancel, but I think that many of them actually don't cancel their subscription and continue in supporting you, just like me. In my opinion the current model is good and no change is needed, on the other hand, publicly available STLs might draw more attention to your work and your channel, which may result in increase on Patreon as well. You'll see by the numbers, eventually. Wish you all the best and keep up the great work (actually my 5 years old son loves your work and I've no other option then - and I really enjoy doing so - to create the stuff you make)

Well, ok, I'll admit I signed up to the $1 pledge to get your STL files originally. But I'm planning on staying on because I think your projects are pretty darn cool in their own right. Maybe in addition or instead of behind the scenes, what I'd like to hear more about is either theory or history about the various concepts you're trying to put together in play in your projects. Like today, you show the exhaust valve - but what's the aim of using one at all - that's the kind of extras I'd be interested in seeing...

Hi Tom, I support you on Patreon to see the results of your creative endeavors. Your work inspires my own projects. I may not be making your projects, but seeing how you solve problems provides inspiration for my own work. I do enjoy getting access to your .stl's, but as long as you have content (and I have money) I'll be a patreon.

I really enjoy watching your videos. You seem so thorough and you have the same curious mind as myself. I, However, rarely get to finish my projects due to lack of time or motivation. So it’s really nice to see what you’re doing here, and I really think you seem like a pleasant guy to watch. I’d love to see you and Peter Sripol team up some day. You guys are making some amazing content! Please keep it up!😀

Wow Michelle, my videos aren't that good! But big thanks for your support!

Tom Stanton

Good job buddy. As an electronic engineer I really enjoy your videos. Keep up the great work!

Bernard, I believe you are able to pledge any amount you wish, but please don't feel obliged to do so. So far, it seems the majority are here for support and not just the files. Thanks!

Tom Stanton

I would pay $10/episode. I love your work.

Haha even the V1 is illegal pretty much world wide, unless you take it off road ;) Thanks!

Tom Stanton

Thanks very much Vlad, that means a lot!!

Tom Stanton

Tom, How about offering a $10 level? I'd like to give you more support in the event you lose some of your $1 subscribers.

Bernard Gauweiler

What Vlad said! Still intending to get round to the electric bike- I just have to work out how to make it legal for Oz! Thanks for the well made videos and the wide range of projects.

David Foster

I'm here to support your work as a designer, architect and engineer of whatever you happen to be working on. The quality of your content is educational and entertaining. Keep it up, Tom!.
