Fixed issue for players experiencing Stews and Puddings from not finishing cooking and the action being cancelled out (no need to redownload the recipes at this time as the problem was with the cookbook)

( Please note that since the last game update did a bit of damage to a lot of mods, especially script mods, I would appreciate if you could remove/make sure any other mods are fully updated to the latest patch in case those are impacting any results - Thank you! 😊 )

Hello everyone!
I have been receiving quite a few messages about the Medieval Stews and Pies recipes (from the medieval food starter pack) not working correctly.
I'm having trouble replicating the issues in my game to find what could be causing them to not work, so I'm asking for some info in your games to see if I can find any patterns to help narrow down issues.
whether they are working or not
what parts for the mod you have downloaded
sims packs you do not own
what stoves your sim uses
on or off the grid
any other information you think might be useful
if you have received any error reports whilst trying to cook them please could you upload them in my discord channel

2025-09-02 22:40:20 +0000 UTCHi, the error I fixed was due to missing packs so this seems like you may have missed a part of the mod required for it to work correctly. Check you have the newest homestead helper mod and if you are using off the grid you need to have my off the grid fix downloaded too 😊

2025-08-31 16:31:02 +0000 UTCI also seem to not be able to grind seeds into flour? i’ve checked in the bg craft ingredients, ye olde cookbook has no option for ingredients, and homestead helper shows nothing other than “put in inventory”, not sure if i’m missing something or not checking the right place!

2025-08-31 16:28:25 +0000 UTCHi I updated this mod today and it has corrupted my save file. I think it might be down to my sims in the save having the ingredients in their inventory when I deleted it to update it to the new one. Better exceptions just keeps saying that a "crafting_component" is broken. Do you have any ideas on how to fix this and save my ultimate decades family?

2025-08-27 03:24:53 +0000 UTCIt was mainly the cheese tower and a couple other recipes that wouldn't work at all or would make other cooking mods glitchy. Not sure if anything else is broken on for this mod, mainly cause over half of my gameplay mods broke due to the 8/19 patch.

Today this is what is NOT working on my game, on & off grid, with/ without Simple Living, With one or both traits on & off: Broths, Soups & Stews- Chunky Vegetable Stew, Fish Head Stew, Pigeon Stew, or Bread Roll Stew Pudding- Carrot Pudding, Hasty Pudding, Baked Apples, Baked Pears What mods I have downloaded: All Starter Medieval Cookbook Recipe Packs, Hunting & Foraging mod, CottageHearth.package, NoWoodCustomOvenTuning Package, OTG Recipe Fix Override, Homestead Helper, Medieval Cookbook, and Better Exceptions. I have Werewolves, Vampires, Toddler stuff, Strangerville, Seasons, ROM, Parenthood, Paranormal Stuff, Nifty Knitting, My First Pet, Laundry Day, Kids Room Stuff, Island Living, Holiday Celebration Pack, High School Years, Growing Together, Get to Work, Cottage Living, Cats&Dogs, Blooming Rooms kit, and Crystal Creations.

Did you download all the necessary mod parts? Is this after the recent game update as a lot of other mods broke which could have caused some conflicts and this issue. Thank you!

2025-08-26 09:20:54 +0000 UTCI downloaded the mod and it completely broke my save, the BE reports kept saying it was the cause. I've repaired my game, recovered the save file, deleted everything related to the mod and it's corrupted the households I tried to play it with. :(

Here are the packs I currently have installed: Werewolves vampires Toddler stuff strangerville seasons romantic garden stuff Pastel pop kit parenthood outdoor retreat nifty knitting luxury party stuff laundry day stuff kids room stuff jungle adventure holiday celebration pack high school years growing together get to work desert luxe kit cottage living city living cats and dogs blooming rooms kit backyard stuff i have all updated files or medieval cookbook, homestead helper, hunting/foraging, OTG fix. I have all the medieval recipes installed. I am using a custom stove but it also doesnt work with regular in game stoves. I am off the grid I never receive any error messages and my sims never complain or seem to reset. the progress bar just suddenly will completely finish, and the food tray will appear empty and my sim will stop cooking and can not do anything other than "clean up"

2025-08-25 19:24:54 +0000 UTCJust tried the pies again and it works again. The only difference I made was that I turned Simple Living off. I’ve used EA and the CC ovens from yourself, and both work with Simple Living off. I turned Simple Living back on and it got stuck at the putting them in the oven stage. They say they cannot get to the pie to resume it. No error reports. Just sims acting like something is in their path.

2025-08-25 16:32:23 +0000 UTCLong comment but here goes... Just had a sim try all the base MC recipes and Medieval Fine Dining, on and off grid, with an EA oven and the MC oven. Haven't tried it with simple living. Everything works when you're on the grid but there are issues with several recipes when you're off grid. They can't continue making the dish at some point (either after bringing out ingredients, after preparing ingredients, or after putting it in the oven). It doesn't matter if they're using an EA stove or the MC one. These are the ones that didn't work for me: - Broths soups and stews: All except "Fowl Hotpot" and "Jugged Hare" - Meals: "Mashed potato and gravy" - Pantry foods: "Boiled eggs" and "Scoth eggs" - Pies & tarts: "Raised meat pie" - Pudding: "Hasty pudding" - Fine cuisine: All except "Spinach and eggs" and "Tomato salad" - Teas, Ales & Nectar: "Hot Milk" and "Honey Mead" PARTS I HAVE INSTALLED: - Most recent update of MC - LBB_CottageHearth.package - LBB_NoWoodCustomOvenTunings_REQUIRED.package - LBB_OpenFire_2_Shelves.package - All recipes in "Starter Medieval Cookbook Recipe Packs" and "Medieval Recipes - Fine Dining Collection 1" SIMS PACKS I DON'T OWN: - Enchanted By Nature - Some stuff packs and kits, but they have nothing to do with food so I don't think they're relevant Not receiving any error reports. The sim just can't continue after some point. They'll do that wave when they can't do something and show the thought bubble with either the footsteps and ! icon or a question mark.

The only sims pack I don't own is the glam kit. I used an EA stove (cottage living one). On the grid lot. The only mods I use currently, are yours and MCCC.

2025-08-25 14:20:26 +0000 UTCFor the butter, have you got the recently updated version for the portion size name change. Some recipes ask for servings from the large serving and some ask for individual portions. You may have to pick up the servings for them to work.

2025-08-25 14:09:02 +0000 UTCI am using the medieval fireplace cc to cook on. I have the challenge simple living on. I have all the recipes downloaded. I cannot use any recipe with butter. I have a ton of butter made and it will not recognize I have it made. I have tried butter being on the counter, in my inventory and in the refrigerator. I own all Sims 4 items except carnival wear.
