Primal Lands Suggestion Post

Hello Fellow Trappers!

It was certainly the closest race we've had and it looked like the Yokai trappers was going to win but the dinosaurs pulled ahead. You know what that means. It is time to hear your suggestions! This set will take place in the isolated savage lands in the south west of Letona, far from the rest of civilized society and largely unexplored territory. Thick humid jungles, temperamental volcanoes, bubbling tar pits and fetid swamps cover the landscape. Some of the ideas we have are ceratopsian saurians, dodo rex monstrosity, giant apes, big game hunter trappers, and lots of dinosaurs. We want to know however what you want to see? What larger than life creatures lurk within the jungles? What trappers are willing to brave the thick of the jungle? What are some interesting dinosaur hybrids we could explore or dinosaur versions of classic dnd monsters? We are thinking of having no dragon for this set and instead having the centerpiece model be some sort of massive dinosaur beast. There is no guarantee that your model will make the cut but we'd love to hear your ideas!

Some Dinotopia fantasy realness

Should definitely make some raptor horses!!! I can’t any 3D models for them and they are amazing!!!!

I'd really like to see some pseudosuchian representation. Postosuchus, kaprosuchus(the boar crocodile), heck, howabout some armadillosuchus!(a crocodile that looked and lived like am armadillo) there are just so many beautiful extinct crocodiles!

Alice

Fun fact, there were dinos with even smaller arms! Some didn't even have fingers!

Alice

war hippo or war crocodile

Bobby Blanding

I think a Gorgonopsid would be neat. Not really a dinosaur, but they are pretty cool prehistoric animals

Marcel G

A giant Ammonite krakken/flail snail kind of creature?

PNDMike

Gigantopithecus please! Maybe a Terror bird & mounted terror bird Pigmy hunter?

Gabriel Dominguez

Diplocaulus meets mososaur??

Or maybe a really cool looking Paracerstherium (ancient long necked hornless rhino) hybrid with an Ankylosaurus, so it has a tail club and cool armor and spikes on its back. A giant Irish elk with huge sprawling antlers would we awesome!! Maybe a sabertooth tiger/argentavis (giant prehistoric eagle) gryphon.

Maybe an aquatic diplocaulus monster, with the iconic boomerang shaped head.

A vampire/liche/necromancer riding a skeleton T-Rex, three raptors and a bard, a raptor based modular dragon kin

Something with a blunderbuss?

Shuji Yamada

Maybe both proto human trapper's with modularity and saurian trappers with modularity multiple heads arms then. I'd prefer this over terrain. We could get alot more out of those types of characters making NPCs and players

Michael Abraham

I would love to see some kind of aquatic dino or amphibian hybrid.

king kong vs mothra and tons of different Velociraptor (feathers and reptile skin versions) dr who, the tardis, and bad wolf for the adventurers

Dwayne Hinton

Maybe pylons as a nod to land of the lost? Brachiosaurus but make it a hydra.

Jordan Allen

mammoth loxodon trapper please maybe barbarian or warrior

Anthony Charlton

I was thinking yesterday when you mentions a Dino themed set. Maybe Terrain featuring Tree Stars from the land before time. Just a unique Nostalgic piece to throw in.

Trapper Idea: Lizardfolk path of the Beast Barbarian. Looks like a T-rex humanoid, when he rages looks more like a T-rex. Its the current character I play and its been a blast flavor wise. Primary weapon is my bite.

RabidBlueDeath

SUCCESS!

Inazumathelightning

postosuchus would be super cool

Alice

Trapper ideas: A Victorian explorer, pith helmet and all. Going for something of a Journey to the Center of the Earth feel. A savvy dinosaur trainer; in particular, I'm imagining Owen Grady from the Jurassic World movies. He forms a bond with the dinos, but also understands that they are killing machines. This may be impossible to represent visually, but I like the idea for a character.

Jaecen

A bulette-dino hybrid could be cool, maybe one with feathers, spines or a sail. I think a triceratops or ankylosaurus would be good candidates for this. What about a sabre-toothed displacer beast? Prehistoric feathered kobolds maybe? They would serve powerful dinos instead of dragons I guess. If you need a big centrepiece creature the Tarrasque might work, it's essentially a big dino and could be tweaked to look like one. For terrain it would be cool to see some classic ferns or other types of prehistoric plant life, along with rocks and stuff.

What’s it from?

The Dragon Trappers Lodge

what about a flying saucer... that brought the dinosaurs to earth as an experiment in seeding life on planets. complete with giant eggs and incubators/tubes/something where the eggs hang out

Dwayne Hinton

I know the temptation is Pteranodon dragon, but but but, hear me out... Yi-qi. Yi-qi is a crazy-ass looking half-bird half-pteranodon, all wyvern-looking dinosaur that'd make a totally awesome dragon.

Amanda Winter

So long as something has one of those big back sails I'm happy.

Josh Kita

So long as they don't look like your typical dinosaur miniatures (there's so many of them out there!) they'll be great. The more outside the box the better IMO. LOVE the idea of the Dodo Rex!!

RecoveryByNight

If there aren’t mounted versions is it even really a dinosaur set?

The Dragon Trappers Lodge

Doesn’t quite fit the dinosaur setting though.

The Dragon Trappers Lodge

Unfortunately human and saurian bodies are very different.

The Dragon Trappers Lodge

Orangutan is tempting but giant gorilla is sooo classic. We’ll see.

The Dragon Trappers Lodge

Maybe a pteranodon dragon?

The Dragon Trappers Lodge

Possibly

The Dragon Trappers Lodge

Agreed. We’re gonna try and do some unique stuff. Can’t guarantee we won’t do something with a tree though. They’re just too iconic to pass up.

The Dragon Trappers Lodge

Probably not for this set. Doesn’t quite fit the theme.

The Dragon Trappers Lodge

Define normal sized. I believe they’re “huge” in the monster manual.

The Dragon Trappers Lodge

For certain

The Dragon Trappers Lodge

We do have one parasaur model from the may 2020 set I believe.

The Dragon Trappers Lodge

Pteranodons would be cool

The Dragon Trappers Lodge

That’s been done by a couple other patrons recently. We’ll probably try and do something different.

The Dragon Trappers Lodge

Agreed, historically accurate dinos would be amazing!

Michael Abraham

Would like to see some of the dinosaurs also with mounted versions.

I would rather have a large demon centerpiece, or cultist centerpiece, or something more easily implemented in a D&D campaign

TheCraftingDen

ID love to see tortles here. Also ankylosaurs is r even better parasaurs and other duckbills

Jeffrey Ernst

I would love some Historically accurate dinosaurs with feathers. I would also love a velociraptor or t-Rex Rogue. I think that would be cool and not only because I play a Dragonborn Rogue in DND. And having sentient Dinosaurs as the trapper characters

A giant pterodactyl dragon or maybe pterodactyl mounts with saurian trappers triceratops tyrannosaurus Rex ankylosaurus saurian race people on pterodactyl mounts would really be amazing I'd also like to see a giant ankylosaurus mount of some sort. Also this might be a great opportunity to make a couple of standard primitive people with changeable heads so you can make some as humans and some as different saurians maybe six or eight different sorian heads with different weapons clubs, macea etc

Michael Abraham

This would be really cool, the dragonborn idea is great

Giant wasps would be cool

You guys already know my vote. Gimme a giant ape orangutan and I'll be very satisfied. Nobody else makes anything like it! Also T-Rex is overdone, some ankylosaurs based dinosaurs or a sauropod with & without saddles would be awesome. amargasaurus is a really crazy looking spined long-neck thing which would be cool.

for original ideas a Dodo scholar that studies endangered animals and a prehistoric ape man being ridden by a dino-man would be pretty fun. I think it would be a missed oportunity not to do a dino dragon though. Forget the T-rex and the Tricoretops and stuff, maybe a horde of tiny dino dragons that soar across the jungles canopy in herds.

Ryder Frankle

well anything in the Land that time forgot or the people that time forgot works, but how about a giant wasp? You can never go wrong with giant insects!!!

I know most people don't think about it when they think of dinosaurs but some kind of like frill shark inspired monster because they're like living fossils now that would be super sick

Justin Hudechek

A Flintstones cameo as NPCs would be pretty tight. Please can one of the hunters be a little girl riding a T-Rex like Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur (a great marvel comic for kids) That would be amazing!

Ryder Frankle

ARK DINO DODO REX MONSTROSITY

Justin Hudechek

We’ve seen so many cool T Rex and raptors from other creators, it would be cool to see some of the other dinosaurs get some representation. Maybe a spinosaurus, allosaurus, or Triceratops. Some species that we haven’t seen a lot of

Satellite

Can there be a dinosaur with guns like the one dragon from a few months back?

Travis

Cave people Dragonborn would be awesome! Giant sloth beast? Also look at the Proto-Dragons from WoW for inspiration!

Any chance we can get a normal sized “Giant” Ape as well as the massive one? Would love to finally have a model for my characters when they cast polymorph.

AJ Wilkinson

Could there be pterodactyl fighters like an Aarakocra but dinosaur would be a fun variant. Dino folk in general would be fun a T-Rex monk kicking because they have little arms!

Ted Wilson

That Dodo rex sound intriguing. How about a heavy armoured dino - hybrid Stegosaurs/Triceratops/ankylosaurus as the beast of burden/transport

stephen sale

Cave men!

Acalagus

Tar pit ooze! And maybe some herbivores being used as pack animals/beasts of burden, like Triceratops or Anklyosaurus.

PNDMike

Look at the Brutosaur from World of Warcraft!! Perfect for the centerpiece model. I would also think of some sort of chariot pulled by Triceratops or Pachyrhinosaurus would be awesome. Looking forward to this release!

WardensForgeCreations

A hunter humanoid race based on a stegosaurus would be amazing.

Harry Colquhoun

Your take on a giant sloth would be great. Jungle pygmies with masks that stack into a totem pole or ride in a hut on the back of a long neck. Feathered dinosaurs everywhere.

Four-legged Raptor/Lizard Hounds in dynamic poses chasing their prey!

Use Monster Hunter World as an inspiration. Something like Barioth, Pukei-Pukei, Yian Garuga, Zinogre. Really any MHW large monster.

Miles Lewis

Black Tar Ooze, Dinosaur Chimera, mounted Ankylosaurus, or Massive Ankylosaurus with lodge on its back.

cadenheadr04

I dream of parasaurolophus representation! Also giant sloths and entelodonts. Also!! It would be cool to rep the big game hunters from the Jurassic Park series, Robert Muldoon (Bob Peck in JP1) and Roland Tembo (Pete Postlethwaite in the Lost World) as a maybe a lil in memoriam kinda thing? So excited for this!!

Jake Chappelle

4-winged pterodactyl creatures, dimetrodon/gator like dinos that lurk in the swamps, and maybe some creepy prehistoric looking horseshoe crabs or other invertebrates?

K Vector

I could see a sauropod like titanosaurus, with a mobile base on it's back and a crow's nest hat, as a centerpiece.

Parker Lewis
