NEW MERCHANT TIER OPENINGS!!
Added 2021-09-15 22:47:24 +0000 UTC
Hello Fellow Trappers!
Due to a high demand and interest in the Merchant Tier, we are opening a new Merchant Tier on September 20th at 9:00am Pacific Standard Time!
We'll be increasing the price of these new openings as we are expanding the number of models we release each month (beginning in October) and to reflect the increase of inflation in the United States. The current merchant tiers will not be increasing in price and the new tier will be getting the same benefits as the other merchant tiers.
In the past, we've capped this tier but we've decided to instead, leave it open for a limited time. We've yet to decide when we're going to close it but the Merchant Tier fills up fast so if you're interested, take advantage of that time!
We'll see you all on September 20th at 9:00am PST!
May Your Blades Stay Sharp and Your Flesh on Your Bones!
That is a good question. Shoot us a message and Drew will be able to find that answer for you.

What do you mean? Are you asking if you upgrade to a merchant tier?

how does this work if you have an annual non-merchant subscription?

I'd like to add, the interest in a merchant tier shouldn't be met with adding more. It means you have a product people feel are worth it. That also doesn't mean its selling enough for your merchants to justify flooding the market. You probably should get some numbers from all the merchants to find out how well your models sell for them. If they aren't a big seller than you have lost your loyal merchants, which in some ways, you just did.

The hobbyists that undercut the merchants who do this for a living, have other jobs and don't 'need' their printing business to profit. If it pays for the resin/fees then they are happy. They don't need to worry about mortgage or business space, because they have 'real' jobs that pay for all those extras, they just want their hobby funded. And most people are on the same few eCommerce sites because to get people to our personal sites can be extremely hard. An influx of merchants means more on the sites we use because they are where people are looking right now. So more saturation. Some of us fought to get the spots we have, and recently, then swapped to the year. Now the limited merchant list (which isn't exclusive as there are a lot of us), is now going to be unlimited.

I don't think people are being fair here. It makes sense for a company to reopen new merchant tiers as it grows.
You bought rights to sell their products, not exclusive rights.
Most people here do not compete directly with each other either. Location alone will matter more to most people who buy from you.
If others are outcompeting you that is hardly dragon trappers fault.
Hobbyists are outcompeting you? Maybe they are more efficient then you? Every artistic industry blames the "outsiders/hobbyists" who are doing better than them. There is no such thing. We are all the same group of people.
Edit.
You guys are making so many assumptions about people it's insane. A hobbyist by this logic also has less time to make and sell products. This should not affect your bottomline. If it does there are many many other factors.
You guys are severely over playing the effect this will have/is having, and as far as I can see have no proof.
Any artistic industry is tough. More people will always fail to make a living of it than succeed. I do not think barring entry is a fair solution.

Extremely disappointed to see this post. I have a hard enough time with other merchants vastly undercutting us because it's a hobby to them so they don't worry about profits. My shop is my main job and sole source of income.

This should have been mentioned before enticing people to sign up for a year sub.

We will make another post for the current merchants going in more depth and giving you an opportunity to voice concerns later this week.

The current patrons at the merchant tier will not see a price increase. This is only for new merchants.

If we paid for the annual subscription are we locked in at that price or will we pay the difference?

This leaves a bad taste. Saturating the market with more merchants makes it tough to justify the tier. The competitiveness to get into the tier is healthy, having an open or semi open merchant tier is not going to be good for the ones already here.

I do not love this news. It is already hard to make money with all the competition. This decreases the value of all the merchant spots.

I would like to say I'm rather disappointed to hear this. Specially after paying for a year sub.
