November Release Feywood Suggestions

Hello Fellow Trappers!

The Results for the November release are in and it looks like Feywod trappers has won! (One day arctic set, one day.) There are already a lot of great fey models out there so we want to do something unique. We're imagining closer to pans labyrinth/ the Witcher/ midsommar type fey and vibes. People entering the fey wood and never returning. What do you guys think. I'm imagining a woodland dragon, essentially a dragon dryad perhaps? Satyr's as either trappers or denizens or both. Dryads coming out of trees, or even as a trapper. A flowery druid trapper? Treants? Faerie king or queen? Let us know in the comments what you would like to see as a mount or monster and who the brave trappers of this set should be.

Comments

the fey can be musical. so, what about some variant of sirenhead? sirenhead is a "cryptid" giant with a couple of big sirens as his head. could be bells, a gong (although a gong probably needs a little dude to hit it). idk how dark things get... but there could be a organ played by some kind of beautiful fairy.... however, when a organ key is pressed, it pulls a string that is hooked into various parts of different humans/humanoids and they yell out in pain. or it's super magical and you see the various faces on the back of a high-organ and each face yells out when a key is pressed... regardless, maybe the main organ player has a couple of smaller assistants, cuz the organ is HUGE. sirens (the beautiful temptresses) could be included with this fey orchestra. they could be the choir. perhaps an ancient forest dragon is the one who built the fey orchestra. the "victims" in the organ are evil people who tried to defile the forest - or just trespassers... satyrs playing their panpipes and dryads dancing around.... perhaps their trees aren't just trees though, but ancient ents? so they have faces and they drum which they beat somehow... maybe... a large hide (or hides sewn together) and made into a big hide drum - or somehow interwoven into a couple of large branches and the drum is part of the ent now? another big monster(s) can be a spider or a spider-centaur (like drider, but larger)... and then could have some webbing as terrain/scatter HOWEVER... they use their spider-silk to make harps that they play the spider-centaur mother/matron (far larger than the normal ones) could also be a "mount"... like how you see some huge spiders with a howdah... but it can either be a dance floor... or a stage for band members... regardless, the dryads and satyrs could romp around on the platform, no matter what you call it. or since the matron will have a huge harp... maybe it's where the siren-choir stands and sings now for a twist! the trappers look like a heavy metal/punk rock band... so like they use music to battle the musical fey and defeat/capture them. sooooooooooooo... they could have various sized speakers/amps (steampunk/dieselpunk/magical)... since they're going against the fey... make them otherworldly... either various undead, demons, devils, or even celestial beings.. or one of each? for example the leader being the lead singer/lead guitar and is a very handsome/beautiful vampire lord/lady, undead. a succubus/incubus, demon. an erinyes, devil. then maybe a valkyrie (instead of angel) for the celestial. and put whatever the normal DTL touches are, into these ideas?

Dwayne Hinton

Redcaps, they are just so cool

Darren

Fairy queen! A druid sound great.

shiney

I really like satyrs and faun

Sikharin K.

A satyr trapper, maybe?

One of the hunters could be Fey Nobility, with a Unicorn mount

i mistakenly read the post as inspired by labyrinth rather than pans labyrinth haha. for a second i was kinda hoping for david bowie's goblin king :-p

Jon Self

I approve this message

Justin Hudechek

Magpie Sister- Middle-aged elf w outfit made out of shiny odds & ends that the magpies bring her, many magpies perched on her, hand outstretched w one perched on finger, talking to her.

Jeremy Medon

Fae cultivated living wood Air ship with sails of leaves, docks in the canopy?

Jeremy Medon

the dragon could be made of a swarm of pixies. Like a school of fish trying to look bigger. I love the primal idea of dryads briars wrapped around bones and broken weapons. Like barrow wights guarding their tree that grew from their barrow.

Jeremy Medon

I love your idea of a wicker man golem created by an old crone for transportation and protection from the evil fairies in her woods

Jeremy Medon

If you make gnomes, make them bad-ass like gremlins or redcaps, stealing supplies and punching knee-caps.

Jeremy Medon

Displacer/ blink dragons, Gnomes hunter, Almiraj Mount, centaur hunter

Zachary Scriff

Oberon the green lord/beast lord archfey

Arodnap

Princess Mononoke vibes? I would LOVE this set to have some Princess Mononoke vibes

Jamie

Yesss there is such a lack of non combatant minis! I'd get so much use out of a diverse group of court figures

Jamie

Pixies with sharp teeth. A foul hag, a creature with a lure, fairy dragon mount, jabberwock dragon

Jeffrey Ernst

I dont think there is ever enough exploration into the death decay part of the fey. Fungal monsters and fungalmancers, nucklavee, redcaps and blackcaps, changelings, monstrosities made of the combined parts of decaying animals...

Iron nail golem. Natural defender of the feywood who maintains balance between wonder and mischief.

KarmaKassie

I have been waiting for a giant bear made of stone and vines with a braided beard made of vines and branches. Troll head hunter type guys with spears and bows.. Some kind of giant eagles or hawks even. Fox folk..

WardensForgeCreations

Exactly while letting us choose is awesome they are the creators and we are here because they are amazing and I want them to have fun making these units for us! They are allowed to dictate when they want to!

Justin Hudechek

Why not a fey/forest phoenix? One that rots into mulch as an ancient, withered tree-like crone-bird then spontaneously regrows itself in flowers and fresh foliage. Could be an important part of a fey forest ecosystem :D That said, for forest bird creatures, parrots sure are a bit overdone compared to.... say.... toucans? Yes, yes I am saying toucan forest-phoenix covered in flowers and ferns

Amanda Winter

I'd like to see a lodge made of levitating menhirs for the feywood, making it a super-sized version of a faerie ring. It would be particularly awesome if it came in quasi-modular parts, allowing us to go from a small-hut sized collection of levitating menhirs to something much bigger if we choose to print more pieces. I would also love to see a pixie-swarm "monster" and fey with a darker twist would also be good - red caps, tommyknockers, dryads made of briars wrapped around bones and broken weapons. I think it would be nice to see some sort of fey ogre or ettin too, something bestial but eldritch and slightly twisted. I wonder what a Sylph-troll would look like for this release. For something smaller, I think perhaps a bobcat made of broken crystals or mirrors would look interesting and be particularly thematic. The dragon is trickiest and I'm rather glad I'm not ultimately responsible for the design. I think that in the spirit of Pan's Labyrinth I might like to see a hooded dragon, wingless whose body was covered in eyes, something which could be a really deranged basilisk perhaps.

Gregory Morris

less treants, they have just been over done and your talents could be used else where. i like the idea of more fey. with wings, maybe moth wings or different type of insect looking wings of fey creatures.

Bobby Blanding

Predator deer! Regular looking deer but with teeth. Sort of like a not deer. There’s just something not quite right about them

Oh, also, I feel like you can't not do a Midsommar pole. It's not exactly the season, but I'm sure all the Swedes would lose their minds regardless. I don't know that I've ever seen anyone else sculpt one.

Josh Rodell

I feel like it would be good to have trappers be mean looking trappers that catch and sell the goblins, faeries and pixies at the markets to earn coin. The Satyrs as trappers is a good idea. Maybe a grumpy looking human or half human/fey leading them. Big ugly merchant guy that looks like he’d bludgeon you to death quick as look at you. I feel like one of them should be mounted on a pack animal to carry the traps and catches back to town. An armadillo hybrid of some sort. Maybe a tree-like or rock-skinned armadillo?

A vine dragon, Bogglin water fae like in Maleficent, a wicker man golem created by an old crone for transportation and protection from the evil fairies in her woods, queen Tatiana, queen of the fairies on a huge white stag with enormous antlers like the Irish elk, her dark twisted fae lover king who has been cursed Into darkness and rides a nightmare fall far made from the dying leaves

Michael Abraham

I love this vibe. It puts me in mind of how the Elves of Mirkwood are portrayed in The Hobbit. They might view themselves as noble and proud, but to outsiders they seem cruel and alien.

Josh Rodell

I'm thinking evil goblins like the ones from Labyrinth movie. Nasty sprites and evil faeries with a real demonic vibe. A dark forest dragon covered in thorny vines and stabby broken tree limbs. Base it on a nasty looking dragon like Malificent turns into in the Sleeping Beauty cartoon. Something out of the ordinary. We don't need more cartoon fey types.

I don't kmow what to suggest. I'm hoping for something truly unique. So far most of what has been mentioned, I've seen before. DTL has a history of truly unique concepts and combinations - I'm confident this can be reflected in the Feywood as well. I just don't know what to suggest, but I'll be thinking.

Treebeard

Also can't wait for Arctic trappers... One day

Rae Farley

Flying multicoloured chameleons ftw

Rae Farley

It would be rad if there was a Winter Court and Summer Court typa thing. Like Queens with thier dragon champions and the other models on either side to battle thier opposite

I would personally LOVE to see a Korred from you guys. They are SUPER hard to find.. just sayin' (hint hint lol) .... angry hair throwers ;) ... Maybe even some "Dragon"flies

John Elliott

If you have a desire to do the arctic one, you should just do it for December! I mean, it fits the season, and, I think we all know you'd do an amazing job on it. mammoth dragon

KingWiku

A giant moth of some flavor would be favorite here!

I have no suggestions- but I am squealing at the thought of what you will come up with.

Would perhaps be cool to have some centaur and satyr trappers, don't really see many good player minis of either of those races

Tsand106

A Janet-like character would be a cool hero/antihero of sortsvs the fey.

K Vector

Interesting idea as well

The Dragon Trappers Lodge

I love the idea of a Pan’s Labyrinth theme, but if we want to look into more of Del Toro’s work, how about something inspired by the sculpted wood designs of the elves in Hellboy 2 The Golden Army? What about Pan and the Angel of Death blended into one awesome dragon with feathered wings covered in eyes? You could even have it’s paws in-front of its face with an eye in each of its palms… it would be an amazing mix of Fey and Eldritch Horror. Also, a moth dragon with massive fluffy booties would be amazing… Just a couple of ideas…

Julianne Edwards

Lodge: Firblog Trapper Treant-House Wild Elf Fighter Hunting Blink Hounds Fairy Mage Satyr Ranger Centaur Cleric/Shaman Flora & Fauna: Feral Dryads- From the Deep Wood they are wild and vicious attacking anyone coming near their Groves Shadow Wolves- Bear Sized wolves with venomous thorns protruding from its pelt Chwinga- neutral ghostly but playful forest spirits of areas where the barriers between Realms are thin Monarch Dragon- a giant majestic Faerie Dragon, that uses shifting patterns in its wings to stun prey and has strong offensive magic to deal with the Colorblind.

House Hendoe

With fey inspired by middle european folklore I'm generally thinking of changelings, non-humanoids like Kelpies and Each Uisges, the Dullahan with its spine-whip, and less of anything of greek mythology (like satyrs, dryads, naiads, centaurs and the like). With the Wild Hunt (especially thinking of Annwn and Arawn from welsh mythology) in mind a male or female fey regent in noble clothes with a pack of hunting dogs (or, combined with the welsh myth that corgis are the battle mounts of the fair folk, as actual mount) would be interesting. In my opinion there is enough flimsy, cute and romanticised fey folk around, so I'd love to see them represented as cold and merciless rulers of another realm of existence instead of all nature-y, dancing and laughing all day. It would be really fitting to make the lodge they operate from a hill/burial mound, luring, trapping and killing dragons through illusions of feasts, easy prey, and treasure that, once caught, immediately turn into soot and ash. Maybe a representation of the Erlking (German: Erlkönig), who supposedly is an elvish king that stalks and kills lost children in the woods. A hivemind entity as a dragon, comprised of various creatures acting in unison would be really interesting - quite loosely inspired by the German moss people and their queen (Moosfräulein and the Buschgroßmutter respectively). German folklore also has a ridiculous amount of grain/field spirits called "Feldgeister" (wikipedia has some nice stuff on the respective page) which inhabit agricultural fields and appear in various forms from wolves, cats, or boars to female demons with burning hands (Roggenmuhme) or hybrids thereof. Along the lines of more fantasy-like whimsical fey, dragonflies or stag-, rhinoceros-, or hercules beetles as mounts or a living lodge whose walls are inhabited/tended to by dryads would be fun to see.

A bug-eyed redcap (possibly astride a fungal/insectoid weasel) makes for great intriguing character. As a hermit they can be utilized as a single encounter, a knowledgeable npc, or even a gatekeeper to the feywild.

Joseph K Owens

Leshies! But ones with a bit of a bite to them. They're more likely to eat you than help you.

I love the Pan's Labyrinth idea! Maybe you can find inspiration not only from vanilla tree-cuddling "good" fairys, but the slightly twisted, unpredicatable, predatory variant (Discworld, Gaelic myth). A king, queen and dragon in your style with this theme will surely come out original. I'm looking forward to whatever you come up with!

you could do some like lychin/blighted infest mycenoids. when I think of fea wild. it's distorted, horrific, grim, and hedonistic. Really I always come to stuff like kingdom death monster, hr giger, horka dolls, and matt dangler. the fea wild to me always had an unnaturally cold disregard for order. I would love something more horror-oriented on this one.

Justin Hudechek

Y'all could probably get the artic trappers disguised as a Christmas themed package, right? I mean, there are dozens of us voting for that one for so long, that would be a present to the community...

You have a lot of confidence in our sculpting abilities haha.

The Dragon Trappers Lodge

Bear with me here: A dragon that's like Pete's Dragon, so sort of invisible, but big into being a part of the trees. So, maybe a giant tree trunk with half of a dragon sort of coming out of it, but the body of the dragon sort of looks like it's melting in drops going back to the tree? Sort of like taking shape FROM the tree, but not really being a part of it. I guess maybe like it's the a tree spirit dragon and takes form when the forest is under threat, and it materializes from the tree. Terrible explanation, I know, but it looks cool in my head :D

bojesphob

I’m starting think either an insect inspired feywood, or a corrupted feywood theme is the direction we might go. Lots of good suggestions. Keep em coming!

The Dragon Trappers Lodge

Insect faeries are cool

The Dragon Trappers Lodge

I’m digging the squirrel mount vibes.

The Dragon Trappers Lodge

I like this idea

The Dragon Trappers Lodge

I agree. The disturbing part.

The Dragon Trappers Lodge

This is an awesome idea love it

The Dragon Trappers Lodge

I would like to see both good and evil versions fey wild denizens and trappers.

John Weyen

Please a fairy dragon with butterfly wings I would so love to paint something truly beautiful and magnificent

Lisa Kellogg

A small forest Dragon that has evolved to blend in with its environment?

And please get a little risque on the sculps for any fae/primals. I like my satyrs and dryads to be the pure embodiment of primal nature in all its seductive glory. Not Disney :D. My players will thank you.

Brandon Kohn

I'd love to have a dedicated Insect or Hive themed month. It's got too much potential to stop at one or two bug monsters in the feywilds release set imo

Druids are awesome. A Dryad trapper would be a great story.

Roddy Novogradac

Can we have some woodland gnomes? 😄

Simon Bell

PLEASE Pan's Labyrinth figures! And druids! I love druids!!

I would really love to see some more insect themes in this set. Maybe some of the denizens have moth like wings or insectoid faces, 6 limbs, etc. maybe a trapper is mounted to the back of a wasp or grasshopper. Maybe a reverse mount: some royal grub baby-bjorned to a trapper? Maybe the lodge has a hive like element incorporated into it. I think the possibilities are endless, and insectoid themes dovetail so nicely here

Austen Weitzel

All due respect, but the sylvan-themed Feywild has been done to death, really. The mind-bending surreality of that plane hasn't been touched on much, however, and I'd love to see your take on a more Sandman/Pan's Labyrinth type of dragon and similar monstrosities for the truly Wyld side 🤩🤘🏼

Piecemakers

Ox, a large OX, or maybe elk/deer?

Also, an intimidating unicorn would be spectacular

Maybe you could make some scatter terrain of Han-Solo-in-carbonite-esque NPC's that were transfigured into trees. You could make a few different races, like an elf, a human, and a tiefling.

A large one with giant sloping horns, cornered in moss and vines and plants with plants growing on its back?

Giant earwig dragon?

A giant insect dragon! Maybe like something like a mix of rhino beetle and dragon? Large ornamental rhino beetle head on a long segmented neck with insect like wings and maybe 6 large insect-ish legs and a sweeping segmented tail with maybe a firefly end to it?

A druid trapper creating a giant bear trap. But it's not a normal bear trap, it's a Venus flytrap leaf mouth.

RabidBlueDeath

Maybe Faeries resembling MTG's Lorwin/Shadowmoor block? Less flowery and happy-go-lucky, and more insect-like, mischievous and puzzling

A moose centaur! Really long legs and large antlers on a long humanoid face.

I love the idea of the noble fey court, it allows for more RP than just encounter minis

I would love a Dryad trapper, maybe a squirrel with lunar moth wings as a mount. A satyr playing the pan flute on top of a giant toadstool surrounded by small faerie dragons. A dark fey like Maghda from Diablo 3 or Maleficent. A deer-like plant/bramble creature, maybe something akin to a Kodama.

Definitely more unique dark Fey would be appreciated! A fey dragon that isn't a butterfly or a tree. Fairie folk & dragons that don't look like whimsical butterflies, a pan flute playing satyr luring unkowing adventurers into a musical spell. A dark fey queen or king

Jeff

A dryad Dragon would be epic! I always think of Fey as presenting themselves as beautiful but are secretly extremely deadly. I think it would be cool to have 2 version of the same creature that can be swapped out depending if in combat or not. For example a peaceful Treant figure and a Treant where its body splits apart to form a gaping maw of branches and vines to draw its victims in.

Fancy Davis

An ancient, vengeful tree spirit would be pretty cool to work with. Something like the giant tree-men from Lord of the Rings but twisted by malice

Firbolgs!

Gabby Bangert

I like the Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning type fae.

Centaur variants like deer body instead of horse, etc would be nice!

cadenheadr04

Venus fly-trap like dryads/nymphs would be pretty cool. Lure someone in and "munch". Winter fey nobles would be interesting. Make them gangly, multi-limbed and uncanny.

ShogunLogan

Spooky 'deer'-like thing like the one in The Ritual. https://villains.fandom.com/wiki/Moder

chronolizzard

Fey riders would be great. On something exotic... unicorn or flower lizard? The one thing I would say "no more" of would be "treefolk". Anything that looks like a tree seems to be everywhere. Tree people, tree dryads, treefolk... too many.

Lee Wendel

I second Satyrs, especially Satyr PCs. I'd also love to see some fey dragons, particularly small ones (Like the Faerie Dragon from the MM) that arent just "tiny dragon with butterfly wings"

A lot of makers have been bringing out druids lately (is it the sun?) so I’d personally really appreciate more different stuff like the satyrs!
