I'm a musician and record vocals a lot, and had this kind of problem and related problems a lot until a friend turned me on to this: <a href="https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AAEQIH0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AAEQIH0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1</a> "reflection filter" (linked is just one example) and it makes a *huge* difference. It might not kill *all* noise, but I've been able to record vocals with construction going on outside my house by turning up the gain, getting closer to the mic, and turning this reflection filter away from the primary source of the noise. If you aren't already using one, I can't recommend introducing it into your setup enough.

2017-08-01 07:49:24 +0000 UTCIn response to the reference to Ender's Game wayyyy earlier- he has a companion novel called "Ender's Shadow" that I think is better than the original, and one of my favorite books ever. It isn't particularly short, but it's pretty easy to read and my guess is you'd really enjoy it.
