Q&A Session #4 -- ANSWERS April 2017

Hello everyone. Q&A round 4. FIGHT.

Comments

"A video on Yoshi's Island would be great. There are a ton of old games I could do like that, and I've already played them so writing the script shouldn't be too hard. I don't know if the videos would be popular enough to justify doing a lot of them though. Even from you guys on patreon, I feel that new games are the most suggested" I would love a retro series, even as a mini spin-off. Chrono Trigger, Yoshi's Island, SMW, FF3, etc.

The dinner theater shows I've been to have been corny and dumb, but good fun to accompany a meal I guess. Actors take your order and bring your food, and welcome you to their establishment like it's a regular restaurant. But suddenly, disaster strikes! The cook has been stabbed with his own carving knife, and he had just inherited a fortune from his relatives! And they draw out scenarios with help from the audience to find the culprit.I don't know how common they are, but you probably have to be on the lookout for them.

Thanks for the answers, Joseph! I would personally recommend the Ace Attorney series but I don't know enough about your tastes to know if they'd be something you're interested in. They are basically visual novels, or point-and-clicks if you prefer that term. They're heavily story-based, with most of the gameplay revolving around remembering enough of the details of the story to be able to answer questions and use evidence at the right moments. I admit I asked for mostly selfish reasons because Ace Attorney is the only game where I've made any kind of contribution to "serious games analysis," I'm a lawyer myself and I wrote some articles a few years ago talking about the internal logic of the games and how they stack up to the real world legal system (basically: not very, but as far as the tone of the game goes, it gets it right). So I wondered if you had any opinions on them. I'd say that if you ever want a really story-focused game with a good mix of humor and pathos, the original trilogy is worth giving a try. The writing in the series is more hit or miss after the original trilogy, but those first three games are pretty good.

xD I've watched shammy's video so much. its literally one of my favorites :) glad you know it !
