It’s funny you say this because we actually did a lot more than just write a doctor who fan fiction, and I think one day it would be very interesting to go back over it all and react with George. Maybe for Patreon, maybe for H&F. We shall see 👌🏻

Watching all of these terrible Dr. Who episodes reminds me of your incredible AC fan fiction story😂it got me wondering, did you ever write a Doctor Who one? Would love to see a special video or podcast where you get pissed and finish it with George or something. Would also probably be the best Doctor Who we’ve had for years too 😂

Fr, I did write down the abuse aspect but just elected to ignore it like the episode does because there was barely anything to say and everything else was far more prevalent. And yeah idk what his motivations or actual feelings are, it feels like the episode changes at the drop of a hat, truly nonsensical.

Lucky Day isn't just just abysmal, it's irresponsible. It introduces the idea that, nonsensical characterisation/movitations aside, Conrad might have become who he became because he was abused by his mother as a child. The story and the Doctor then go on to absolutely admonish him as this one-dimensional, irredeemable villain with no attention paid to how people turn bad. It's like some classic Disney fantasy: villains just sort of sprout out of eggs, already evil without any history or context. Similar thing with Al in The Robot Revolution. This, what, 17 year old? 18 year old? His crime of being a bit of a dick to women means his death should be celebrated? Is there no possibility that he had been corrupted by some other influence? I don't understand what kind of first-draft-acceptance policy the BBC and Bad Wolf are running over there that they can throw in a child abuse subplot only to completely abandon it, muddying the waters of its villain only to jettison any complexity and make it seem like it's the villain's own fault he was abused as a child. Is Conrad, or isn't he, a tragic victim of circumstance? Like Blon Fel Fotch, could he have been something different, a hero even, given the right upbringing? "No," Pete says, "he is a baddy." Oh, and when you talk about Conrad's rejection of aliens existing, which is obviously ridiculous, some reviewers are saying that since he's a grifter, he's just lying to people when he says aliens don't exist, that he secretly knows they are but lies anyway. To somehow profit off of people who are stupid enough to not believe it after all they've seen - which is obviously a terrible element for the story given how stupid those people would have to be to believe that UNIT could fabricate multiple invasions and cover up thousands and thousands of deaths.~ But if that's the case, why does Conrad react so shocked when he sees the Shreek? Why does he look surprised to see that aliens could be real? Especially the Shreek, given that he would have to know what it looks like in the first place to re-create the fake Shreek suits his people use to trick Ruby? He must have been able to access CCTV of UNIT or something to realistically re-create multiple suits, therefore knowing the aliens are real. It makes no fucking sense whatsoever.
