It's such a shady and creepy industry. It's the same in the USA as well. Something really needs to be done to help these artists.

How they get away with not paying them is there is something called trainee debt that all agencies have (Hybe never had trainee debt and still doesn't New Jeans were being paid a month after debut). So idols owe their company money for expenses like food, lessons, accommodation etc., from when they were trainees. So idols do not actually get paid until this debt is cleared and they keep them in debt by overfunding comebacks. If I pay 6m for your new album, plus performance and travel costs, plus staff wages, but you only make 4m, you owe 2m on top of your previous debt, on top of your occurring debt because you still aren't making money for your current living expenses and we're paying for it. So the company keeps loaning them more money instead of actually paying them, forcing the idol to rack up more debt. So like the video said the labels didn't have to provide income statements so Idols can cross reference what they were producing vs what was being deposited into their accounts. Also alot of their contracts are vice grip deadly so even if they found out, they still can't leave. I'm all for minors being protected by law and their company. You would see grown men 30+ going to fan signs to meet 15 year old girls and the girls are forced to engage with them 1-on-1. I don't personally stan anyone outside of BTS so I can't say I won't stan them because they are minors cause I wouldn't even if they were 18+ so lol
