Legs study part 1 and 2

Hello everyone, these are the notes for the legs study. Sorry for all the delays. I will be sharing on the Discord server some videos I used for it. It was a quick study, around 1 hr and 25 min. Next Monday, I will do a bonus study breaking down the legs. Now for the notes: Bones: To understand the gesture of the legs, I find it important to know how the bones connect. This works for every part of the body, but the legs are especially easy to see. If you get a chance to observe some of the leg bones in action, it could help your gesture and anatomy skills.

Another observation is that the legs have a natural gap, which happens because the legs are not completely straight. When viewing from the side, you see that the upper part is a little bit further than the lower part. From the front, you can notice that the upper part is a little bit further to the side from the pelvis, and the lower part is more aligned with the lower part of the pelvis. Gesture: My favorite thing to do when thinking about the gesture of the legs is to understand that they naturally have contrast and flow. The contrast is that one part is straight and the other is more curved, and the flow follows an S curve that starts on the pelvis and ends around the feet. It makes it so much easier to quickly make a pose for characters when you get this S flow for the legs. I recommend doing some gesture drawing (30 secs to a 1 min long) focused around the legs and the space they occupy.

Structure: First of all, I study the gesture and bones before structure. Having a good understanding of the flow of the leg (and bones) helps to map out where to put the forms. The structure of the legs is interesting because it forms a contrast, with some areas being straight and others curved. I recommend using cylinders that are naturally unsymmetrical, and they get smaller where the knees and feet are. The knee is an interesting thing. I recommend seeing Synix's video about them, but two things: they stick out a little and they get overlapped by the fat/muscles of the thighs. These are my notes. Sorry again for all the waiting time.

The last comms that I'm doing are kinda difficult, but as soon as they are done, it will be so much fun to share them :D
