How Chandler Halderson Didn't Come Close to Getting Away with Murder

Comments

This was brilliant. Can do cover Mark Seivers? He's on death row for having his wife murdered. His 2nd interrogation is insane!

Lou Lou

Great stuff cant wait till next video!

Snupaboo

Reminds me a lot of Casey Anthony with the excessive made up people and employment. Really bizarre pathological behavior.

Daniel Huslig

53:38 I think you know you're in trouble when the defence actually says the words Chandler Halderson killed his parents, no matter the qualifiers or context. Yikes

Nicholas Odonell

I think I’ve watched this an equivalent of 3 times now. I know the case well, but no matter how much you know, MO always has his own way of portraying it to us in a well conceived manner.

Chris Chambers

Fantastic video as always. Probably the best intro I’ve ever seen

Emily Tupper

Super good video - as always! I need to say that I was nervous that the 'punch' of the video at the end would be for him to walk free.

Dom

YES. What a great way to start the week, thanks Matt and Co!

Jacob

Enjoyed - thanks Matt! In cases like this you can't help compare the work involved in sustaining the lie with the work the person was trying to avoid with said lie. This plonker spent his days making gmail accounts and calling his Dad from a burner phone (presumably trying his best to change his voice), when the same amount of effort could've actually brought his life a fair bit closer to how he was portraying it. Almost impressively stupid. Reminds me of Jean-Claude Romand.

Payton

Amazing how someone so dim can do something so horrifying.

Samantha W

Cool story Bro… now shut the fuck up hahaha thank you Matt for another stellar video 💜 you are amazing 💜

Jade Wooding

Thank you Matt! ♥️ I was one of the people that suggested this case. 👍🏼

ReSearcher

love it! great video about an EPIC P.O.S. (CH). great job!

The Defense borrowed the legal tactic used in the movie From The Hip, a Judd Nelson vehicle from the late 80’s. The Junior Attorney assigned a murder case, attempted to call the victim to the stand and everyone looked at the courtroom doors in expectation. He then used the same ‘made ya look’ theory and noted there must be reasonable doubt if you expected the victim to appear. SPOILER: The kicker in the movie is that the defendant did not look. Thank you Matt! “Hold on a second, she’s gonna screw up another word…”. I literally laughed out loud.

YESwayTED 024

Yes, exactly that. Her full closing is actually worth watching too if you're interested in the concept of impossible cases. It sucks, because her case sucks. But it's sort of impressive in it's own way because she genuinely attempts to hone in on tiny things to sow some seeds of doubt.

Matt Orchard

So accept it for the challenge that it is, rather than focusing on the dim odds of success. I do see how Vera's approach seems to reflect that.

corvdb1992 .

Thank you. I really enjoyed how you broke this down. And I loved the 'Cool Story Bro. Now Shut The Fuck Up' at the end. Perfect.

Stel

Neither am I, so I'm probably romanticising this like it's an episode of Boston Legal or something - but I kind of think those might be some of the "fun" ones. Like, okay how do I make something out of nothing with this? And I think that's a bit of a difference between Dorl and Vera. Dorl just iterates the concept of presumption of innocence, but you can totally tell she's just going through the motions. Vera actually looks like she went to the effort of kind of selling herself on her own bullshit,

Matt Orchard

Man... I'm not a public defender, so I don't know anything of that process... but how shafted and dismayed do you feel if you're assigned/take on this case?

corvdb1992 .

Your absolute, bottomless, unceasing disdain for Chandler (or was it Chander) was marvelous. 👌🏻

Kurt Narten

I remember watching parts of this trial via Nick Rekieta. Aside from the prosecutor slipping up during the closing arguments, this was a wild, very one-sided trial.

Cosmo Reverb

This gon' be gooood

MrVacuumBrainBimbo

🤣🤣🤣

Mary Ali

I was hoping that you would cover this case, so Popcorn and mojitos ready, Thank you sir :)

Max McCalla

Woo! New Matt Orchard video! Settling in w/ snacks, drink and high expectations for another look at a fucked up case we all know and - um - Good God.

Inge Berge

Wow a look into the Chandler case! One of the most disturbing and perplexing cases of parenticide!

Keith Dosik

First. Lets go!!!!
