Sensing the Nathan Fielder within. Great work, Matt!

Lloyd Gabriel

Things turned for the worse when she went for the cart and he approached her. She was doing it and it still wasn't good enough. They did that a lot. The need to follow is condescending. He could watch from away. Oh and the spem bank comment.,gross This was an amusing video in the beginning. Taking a meaningless problem and giving it importance. Amused me.

Brandie Pauley

This alone was worth going to patreon, I freaking adore you

Kayleigh Moreno

The way you delivered those last few words is perfection.

Mae

You almost want to give the last lady an inch because if what she says is true, im sure she does hurt, but the fact she left her cart in the wheelchair ramp lane just shows she doesn’t actually give a shit abt disabilities. She uses it as a parry anytime anyone gives her shit. Truly awful. Almost as bad as the dudes that pull their sticks.

NeilDiamondCutter

Jep we do that in Germany

Ulla Sievertsen

as an autistic person omg “i have an autistic daughter i have to take care of” BITCH your daughter existing as an autistic person is such a burden that you can’t put your goddamn cart back omg

Lilla Boxall

does the US not have people put money in their carts when they get them? that’s how the UK counteracts this problem you wanna put it back to get your money back.

Lilla Boxall

I think the one thing that bothers me about the cart narc approach is that they stay completely calm and collected except for insisting on calling the people theyre dealing with 'lazy bones'. like theres one woman who was so triggered by that as well as him doubting her disability who could have avoided all that by validating those things lol

Prince Leor

This is more insightful (and hilarious) than any of the trolley problem thought experiments I have ever encountered. Absolutely bloody brilliant. You, Sir, are the new Socrates of true crime.

Arthur

This was worth joining Patreon alone!!! 🤣🤣

p j

The irony that they will RUN after someone instead of just returning their damn cart is insane. I am blind and still make sure to put my cart away because it's just the decent thing to do lol People are insane.

Brooke Coelho

hell yea

Beanie Kowloon225

Cheers Colleen, welcome aboard!

Matt Orchard

I’ve been thinking of becoming a Patreon for ages, your Heard/Depp Love Story tipped me over the edge into Patreonship today…and this video has made me so happy I did! Quality content, thanks Matt! :)

Colleen Brannon

The Bureau of Retail Hazards and Liabilities.

Matt Orchard

Hilarious video, I’m curious though where did you find the statistic for shopping cart fatalities?

Christopher

We need more social assassins in this world like this xo

Erin

Well....of all the places I would find another “ Colleen W “ and I find you on one my favorite content creators channels! And as we are both members of his Patreon I’m betting we have more in common than than a first name and last initial and an interest in superior true crime channels LOL!

Colleen Whitman

Phenomenal video. Amazing work

Emily Tupper

I did stumble across that in my research!

Matt Orchard

That said: I return my shopping carts. Almost always. However in the rare instance where I might have not, and I was righteously confronted with a Cart Narc, I can imagine the conversation going more or less like this: CN: “You didn’t return your cart.” Me: Correct. I’m a sociopath and have zero interest in the social contract or doing the right thing. Have a nice day. 😂

Inge Berge

Absolutely hilarious. I love it! But how could you have missed the opportunity to include the inimitable Glenn Danzig’s musings upon this very subject? 😂 I give you: “The shopping cart is the ultimate litmus test for whether a person is capable of self-governing. To return the shopping cart is an easy, convenient task and one which we all recognize as the correct, appropriate thing to do. To return the shopping cart is objectively right. There are no situations other than dire emergencies in which a person is not able to return their cart. Simultaneously, it is not illegal to abandon your shopping cart. Therefore the shopping cart presents itself as the apex example of whether a person will do what is right without being forced to do it. No one will punish you for not returning the shopping cart, no one will fine you or kill you for not returning the shopping cart, you gain nothing by returning the shopping cart. You must return the shopping cart out of the goodness of your own heart. You must return the shopping cart because it is the right thing to do. Because it is correct. A person who is unable to do this is no better than an animal, an absolute savage who can only be made to do what is right by threatening them a law and the force that stands behind it. The Shopping Cart is what determines whether a person is a good or bad member of society.” - G. Danzig

Inge Berge

Great to see a bonus video so soon after the last one, you are spoiling us now Matt and I like it !!!

PAUL

LOVED this one. You bring it every single time!

Brooke Ent

Thanks so much for all the work you put into these! This video gave me a good laugh while also showcased how insanely lazy humans can be sometimes. I do think certain jabs at people were a bit unwarranted (the body comment for the last woman) but all in all, the Cart Narcs seem to be doing a public service!

Thomas Brown

Brilliant! You made me laugh so hard at parts of the video. But the cart narc's tactics are still fairly harmless compared to Russia's StopHam who put stickers on people's windshields. The kind of stickers that are really hard to get off.

Sascha Stange

...did a shopping cart hit your car recently

Colleen W

Glad to be your patron, your content has been some of the most entertaining and thought provoking since day one, and this one is just funny on top of that!

KJ Kallio

Brilliant

Amber Green

Great video, thanks!

Andy McBlane

Good point!

Matt Orchard

Janice, you are a treasure.

Evonne Acevedo

I love how the gal who lectured Cart Narc on how you shouldn’t tell somebody with a disability that they have “lazybones-itis” (which, without context, is a good rule to live by) not once but twice launched into mocking him for stuttering.

Evonne Acevedo

that man really pulling a gun after being asked to return his shopping cart. I suspect we may be seeing him again on this channel for different reasons in the future...

MyNameFits

Thanks Christine, glad you enjoyed it :)

Matt Orchard

That's very kind Johnny, thanks so much :)

Matt Orchard

Fantastic work, sir! I haven't laughed this hard in weeks.

Christine

Fantastic, Janice. I sorta feel like I got a bonus clip, or found an Easter egg, with the video after reading your comment.🤷🏼 🏆

Johnny Collins

If, Matt Orchard, there is ANY possibility that you don't know, or aren't 100000% SURE that you are a genius, sir... I'm here to tell you...and I believe I speak for the masses when I say: "You're a genius." Your content is unmatched. Hopefully, you're not still in that place where you're comparing yourself to JCS, or hoping to be in his league...because you've topped him. No bullshit. I sincerely believe that without a doubt. Well done, again, sir.

Johnny Collins

One of the morals of the story- avoid women in pickups* *I joke, I joke. Best to avoid everyone in pickups

Jon Evans

Beautiful, Janice.

Matt Orchard

Thanks Bex! Really glad you enjoyed it that much :)

Matt Orchard

Yeah he should have stayed on topic. The disability could be totally legit and it doesn't change that she could operate the cart to begin with and then put it back. What a plot twist if the disability was real and this person is just so heinous and self-entitled by default that no one in her life believes her, lol. I almost felt bad for her standing there with the paper in her hand when he told her it was fake.

Andrew Mcgrath

That was fascinating!!! Raised in the 70s and 80s, we were taught that shame is bad… but then I raised children. I discovered that kids are for the most part, born shameless. They need to learn a healthy sense of shame. Shame about doing something that not only hurts another, but creates more work for someone else. Healthy shame, even about little things, counts in aggregate… Kant said something about it 😉. Twice in the last year, I have been angrily approached by people for not cleaning up after my dog. In both cases, the people confronting me were mistaken… I knew the dog hadn’t done his business, but they didn’t. One man angrily yelled at me - “don’t you clean up after your dog??” He came out onto his lawn to confront me. I said he didn’t go… he was just sniffing. The man eyed his lawn, found some dog crap and yelled at me for lying. I sighed… walked over to the pile, and picked it up - stone cold and a few days old. I turned and showed him the petrified turd… he paused. It was obviously not my dog’s recent business. The I told him I fully and whole heartedly agree with every bit of his anger. People let their dogs go on my lawn too. And worse, any parent whose raised a toddler knows that kids don’t watch where they walk. So, thanks to careless people, many a pleasurable walk with a little one turns into a giant mess for you to clean up. I validated his position completely. He calmed down and apologized. I said, not at all - you didn’t know, and you are fully right to be irritated by these careless, selfish people leaving feces on your lawn, or any where else. Now he says hi every time I see him. Another lady came up angrily when my dog squatted, and she saw me walk away. I walked over to the site and said I’m sorry, but I checked… no business. Then I explained that my dog is elderly and can’t always get the job done. She was elderly and immediately understood. It’s hard getting old. Then, again, I told her how fully I endorse her position… and that confronting people is actually the right thing to do. Occasionally I see her on her walks and we’ve had some amazing chats. I made two friends in my neighborhood just based on these kinds of confrontations. I truly hope that had I not picked up after my dog, and been caught doing it, I would respond appropriately. I’ve been on dog walks where I’ve run out of bags because it took my poor old fellow two or three goes to get finished. This is a nightmare… I build a speech in my head in preparation … I ran out of bags, I would explain if confronted, and I will come back and clean up. Basically, I get ready to apologize and correct. And that’s the other thing I had to teach my kids. Sometimes, when you get called out, you need to own up, be honest, and apologize. Then you give that person the gift of contrition, and the chance to forgive. I told the boys - most of us actually want to forgive, because it physically and psychologically feels good. Anger, for most of us, feels bad. But we can’t forgive without contrition… we can’t forgive when someone fails and betrays us, then doubles down and lies overtop. I tried to teach them: Get good at forgiving yourself for not being perfect, admitting it to yourself and others, correcting your behaviour, and asking for forgiveness, and life will be much, much better. I hope my sons listened… they are both adults now, loose in the world, imperfectly navigating, like all of us. My fear upon watching this video is that it is more common now, as disconnected from each as we increasingly are, to feel as though our families friends and neighbours have no right to hold us accountable and expect that we will at least try to see the larger impact of our carelessness. I’m just a person… sometimes, I’m actually careless and selfish. Sometimes, I put my self before others. Have I ever left a cart where it shouldn’t be? I know I have. Have I ever used a phone while driving? Yes, I have. I’m horrified by this… but do I watch my behaviour every second of every day? No. I am full of excuses… there’s always some rationale. Videos like this, show the extreme version of my own flaws as a person. Hopefully, videos like this serve also as parables, and I be a little better, at least for a while, having watched.

Janice Bennett

Matt this was awesome!!! The bravery of Cart Narc officers and the sociology of Lazy Bones encounters have captivated me for some time, I was so giddy when I realized this was the topic you were covering! Laughing the whole time, totally like a lighthearted vigilante story compared to The Predators. Although I can't say I condone ALL the actions of Agent Sebastian, it's undeniable that his is honest work!

Megan Elaine

I LOVE all of your content, and your true crime/interrogation analysis is what drew me in initially. But these light hearted ones are some of my favorite videos. The Dennis Leary one is hilarious too. Thanks for the upload 🙂

The Shaffers

I was thinking the same thing Matt about this being like one of your previous episodes called “The Predators”. Sebastian is reminiscent of Ramy in ways especially with that comment about being in that woman’s body going too far before she busted out the pepper spray. It’s a double edged sword ⚔️ I can understand what they’re doing has the greatest intent but putting someone on camera and saying derogatory stuff like that is always going to bring the demon out of someone and a part of me thinks that they like it especially for YouTube revenue. Instead of that car magnet 🧲 what Sebastian could do is have a brochure instead that gives all of the facts about shopping cart injuries and deaths that you Matt just shared with us in this video that I didn’t know about prior to watching it even though I already put my carts back. He could also have a better attitude to go with that brochure because I’d fear that someone will eventually retaliate with something he can’t run away from. It’s just like how Ramy could call the police and actually help make a conviction, but he doesn’t. Another thing is that it takes a certain person to do something like this or the predator poaching. With Chris Hansen, Ramy and others already being exposed for various things it kinda makes me curious as to what this Sebastian’s background looks like. In conclusion it was a great video Matt Orchard. Oh! By the way, have you ever thought about covering Rodney Reed, Julius Jones, Richard Glossip (the latter two from Oklahoma) and their over promoted so-called innocence vs. the suppressed potential real innocence of Daniel Holtzclaw which you’ve covered and was one of the very first criminology videos I’ve ever seen. You’ve got big balls Matt, to cover something that controversial takes a lot of risk and since watching the video I’ve signed his petition, written letters and donated. I appreciate you sharing this information as YouTube always tries to suppress it. Keep up the marvelous work 😎

SHAUN BAILEY

This is one of my favorite videos you've ever done. Well worth the price of a Patreon subscription. I was giggling the whole time. Another point about the "disability" argument - many stores will have an employee help you out to your car with your purchases (and then take the cart back themselves) if it is really that much of a difficulty for you. All you have to do is ask.

Bex McKenna

Fun fact about the shopping cart. It took about two years for customers to start using it. The inventor had to pay people money at first to use the shopping cart, because until then when a customer when to the store to buy food, they bought to one or two items they needed. Also, this was back in the day where you can send for 7 year old child to the store with a dime to buy cigarettes. So it was a different time back then.

Sean Behrens

IMHO he made a huge tactical error in accusing that woman of faking her disability. Regardless of whether he’s right, it allowed her to take the moral high ground and deflect from the issue at hand, as well as making the whole organization look bad.

ChiralSpiral

I literally just found the cart narcs like 2 days ago, this is some sick timing

masun

Too disabled to return a cart to a cart corral, not disabled enough to push said cart filled with items through the store in the first place. Right.

Samantha W

Lol great video Matt

Yann Le Maitre

Made me think it was April first

Samantha

My thoughts are with you ReSearcher, especially if it's winter where you are. On the plus side, us Fibro types never need to make up an excuse to get out of attending a dull event.

Mike Freeman

Thanks Matt. If you did that then I would insist on buying you a pint.

Mike Freeman

Hey Mike. I have Fibromyalgia also. I agree with you. Parking is parking whether it’s a horse, an automobile or a cart/trolley.

ReSearcher

Thank you for your service, Mike. If you ever needed help with your trolley (we call them that in NZ too) I would readily assist :)

Matt Orchard

I'm disabled. I have Fibromyalgia which makes life very difficult. When I am able to go shopping and use a trolley (sorry, I'm from the UK) I make sure I take the trolley back to a safe place beyond that little strip that stops them rolling back out and hitting cars. If you can park a car, you can park a cart. No excuses.

Mike Freeman

This was absolutely hilarious 😆. Thanks Matt!!

Elisabeth Villoutreix

Thanks Jade!

Matt Orchard

Matt this was sooooooo funny!! I loved it so so much 💜 and I think you’re amazing! Thank you for all of your hard work 💜💜💜

Jade Wooding

🤣🤣🤣

Mary Ali

I'd never think of this as a topic for a video and I'm impressed, great work as always

Pinky

Nailed it, EFFIN nailed it my good man!

Jeremy

I kinda thought of this as The Predators episode if it was purely comedic and sided with the vigilantes

Matt Orchard

I'm positive Putin doesn't take his cart back.

Kurt Narten

I have 3 bulging dicks in my back 😳 omg I’m dying! 😂😂 gold as always!

Sarah Vidal

The world is so intense at the moment, it’s great to watch some light, funny content, that still highlights how shitty people can be, lol!! For the record I always take my trolley back, because my family can wait, I’m never that busy when I’m out shopping , I’m not disabled and most importantly, I’m not a lazy asshole! Great work Matt! 🙌

Terei Tumohe

She does call him Agent Sebastian. hahaha

William Daniel Faircloth

Love the video! I do think him saying lazy bones to the handicap person was a mis step... But he's not wrong, if she can push the cart around, she can put it back.

Rachel T

Not even done with the video but this is so hilarious! Great video!!!

Dobert

Thanks, Matt, I’m a huge fan and an early supporter of your work. I love this crossover between you and cart narcs, as well as the one between you and the predator catchers (in addition to your JCS inspired content). Keep up the great work!

George Mayhall

Thanks for the members only upload!

Christos Belibasakis

Awesome!! 🙌

Jenny och Pelle

Coming in for the third shift gas station worker again, praise the orchard! For it is bearing and fruitful!
