Yeah I think Rupert suspects because in college they had discussions of whether murder should be allowed. And then the conversation now, their nervousness since he knows them so well. The missing David who he also knows well. The maneuvering with the woman as if David isn't in the picture right now , etc

2025-06-10 04:07:17 +0000 UTCThis one has been on my "to watch" list forever, so this reaction was the perfect reason to bump it to the top of the list. I really liked this movie. Did some research on my phone while watching it and apparently in the play that the film was based on Phillip and Brandon were a couple, but it wasn't stated explicitly in the film. It said that both the main actors chose to play it that way, but that Jimmy Stewart didn't know that his character was also supposed to be gay. π Speaking of Jimmy Stewart- he has been in sooooo much. He was one of the most popular actors during the 1940's and the 1950's and beyond. If you're committed to watching more Hitchcock films you will likely see him again in Rear Window, Vertigo, and The Man Who Knew Too Much. My personal favorite of his is The Philadelphia Story with Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant.
