Upload Notes: Arcane Appetite

Oops, I didn't make an upload notes for this story right away. Sorry about that! I had sat down to write out my thoughts, but they were particularly disorganized and rambley... even more than usual~ So I restarted, but, ultimately, I don't think I have a lot to say about this one!

Hex Maniac is a wonderfully reliable character for me, and her presence definitely carried my motivation to write this haha. I don't want to sound too mean right out the gate, but this is definitely one of those stories that I reread and think, "man what was I thinking." There's so much I wish I had rewritten, or put a little more heart into... Scenes that felt like they fell flat, or seemed a little awkward. The ten people, you know, I figured that if there were ten of them... they'd be disposable, and that'd be fun, but often times I kept running into this problem where I asked myself, "why do I care about them?" I intentionally kept them without personality, to help them blend together and keep the reader from being distracted, but in doing so, I made them faceless and vague, unlikeable. If I have any core regret, it's probably my failing here to create an effective cast -- not only is ten people maybe a little much, but not giving them any depth did me little favors.

Putting the negative aside... I do like the concept a lot, though! Hex going crazy with an orgy of time people she picks out is a really hot idea, and definitely up her alley. Well, "her" alley -- the Hexes I write actually tend to be "different" Hexes each time, if that makes sense~ For example, this Hex Maniac lives in Lumiose, sells milk, and is really busty. Another Hex, like the one from Dynamax Maniac, isn't so heavy, and she lives outside of Lumiose in the swamps. That's... not a big difference, is it? Hah, well, it makes sense in my head. There isn't just one canonical Hex that I use, more like there's an amalgamation of Hexes in my head that I pull characteristics from.

In other words... I'm always down to write up a Hex story haha. I wasn't too surprised this Hex story won the April poll, though I was impressed that it received almost all the votes -- of what few votes got to the poll, anyway. I'm sure you guys enjoy me writing my "comfort characters," which is nice to know~ Like I said, Hex is one of my favorite and easiest characters to write. But I do look forward to getting to those other fandom stories! Perhaps I'll have to do another poll with those remaining options...

Well, sorry for being a downer so early in this post hahah~ I see mistakes and not mentioning them feels silly. All I can do is learn and keep moving forward, I s'pose. Thanks for all the support from you guys~ It's meant a lot to me these past few weeks for sure. Look forward to the next story~
