Reviewing all the Arcane skins (they have weird problems)
Added 2025-01-10 01:08:35 +0000 UTCMy skin reviews of the Arcane skins ended up turning into essentially kind of a full video essay a little bit (and also 20 minutes long). Minimo, my editor, made a wonderful edit of it using a bunch of music from the Arcane soundtrack, but it got IMMEDIATELY copyright claimed so we're doing a version with safe music instead.
It didn't get copyright-blocked though, so I'm putting that here so you all can get to see it behind the paywall.

The fact of the matter for all of these skins functionally just is, if the appeal of the show is the entire reason to buy the skins, what in the fuck is the point of making them so utterly disjointed FROM THE SHOW?! It just makes no sense to me in the least. Like, there's so many good details that COULD have been added, if they were allowed to. And yet... Every last one of them just feels like it shouldn't be connected to the show. Except Heimerdinger. That one's fine.

2025-01-10 18:24:58 +0000 UTCnot only FUCK that jinx skin wholeheartedly, but am i the only one who thinks the splash art looks extremely weird? like jinx in the middle looks very rendered and well drawn as most splash art, but the other two look doodled and Not in an intentional or stylistic way. like they were added at the last minute. they have next to no detail and look out of place with that jinx in the middle. ultimate skins had separate, fully-rendered splasharts and icons for EVERY form the champion takes on for a fraction of the price!!

Additionally, fuck that jinx skin. The splash artists and model artists have put in so much work into a clear piece of work that is nothing but a stellar example of capitalist greed

It heavily clashes with her actual character unlike her first Arcane skin that reflected that contrast well. I think it would be SO much better if her VFX used the mental psychotic imagery that Arcane's visual effects utilize a lot of.

That part of her character is distinct enough to radically change her fantasy at leasta considering unlike base Vi, this Vi is on the constant nearness of losing her mind from all the trauma she endured and sometimes begins SCREAMING outloud.
