Added 2024-08-12 17:27:57 +0000 UTCApple has a mandatory 30% payment fee on all transactions made on apps in their app store ecosystem. This includes Patreon, but up until this point, Patreon had managed to avoid having to pay the 30% fee for transactions.
Apple has turned the screws now, though, and are forcing the 30% fee onto Patreon, so if you are subscribed to me or any other Patreon campaign through the Apple iOS app store, your subscription might get a full third more expensive!
The best option is to delete your subscription from the app on your phone, and sign back up via a browser interface on a non-iOS device - this avoids the 30% charge entirely. If that's not an option for your at all, then my personal recommendation is to lower your pledge or delete it entirely, rather than let the vultures at Apple middle-man themselves to 30% of the money you're pledging.
