Progress Log 6/22/18 - Gallery & Plans

It’s time again for our weekly Progress Log! Doku and I had an awesome planning session this week where we’ve prepared our workflow for the coming month. There’s some big improvements that will be implemented in the coming versions that we’ll be talking about in today’s post.

Vanis:

My week started off with finalizing the request bubbles in the new Room and fixing up the draft of the story script in order to try and fit some story content this month. More recently, I’ve been working on the gallery and have some things to show you!

This is a general idea of how the gallery is going to look once it’s plugged into the game. Each character will have their own tab, the last two being multi character images and “other” for backgrounds and things like that.

I’ve also prepared a script that allows you to view the image in its original size by panning across it! This particular feature has me excited because everyone will be able to see the insane amount of detail that Doku puts into these pieces.

Doku:

I’ve spent this week working Cerises’ expressions and toy states for Room 2. The only thing I have left to do before handing things over to Vanis is create the Shibari Rope poses, which I expect to have finished within the next few days if all goes well. I’ve had to go back and forth with her face a bit because I wasn’t satisfied with how it was looking at first.

Aside from this, I created the UI elements for the gallery that Vanis showed you and I have to admit, I’m excited for it too!

We had mentioned a planning session earlier, and here’s where things get interesting. In order to implement the gallery, we are going to need to do a revamp/improvement of current systems in the game. Primarily saving and loading. The following features have been planned out and we expect to have them implemented by 1.8.0 - 1.9.0 depending on how things go.

• Saving and Loading Improvements: A big pain point that you guys have mentioned to us is not being able to change save files in the middle of gameplay. We’re going to be tackling this and adding a data setting in the options menu that allows you to change your primary file without having to quit and play through the entire game again. The number of slots will also be increased but we are still deciding on how many there will be in total.
• Global Save Data: There are somethings that need to be retained across all save files, such as the gallery images that have been unlocked. The following things will save across all files and be accessible from the main menu without having to load into any particular save. They will also be clearable via a full data wipe in the settings if you wish to start over completely.
  • Gallery Unlocks
  • Love Tokens
  • Free Play Characters, Rooms and Toys. (Will require unlocking them in story only once)
• Character Standing Menu: This menu is still being drafted but the idea behind it is that you will be able to see how much a particular character likes you. Knowing this information will allow players to see which story path they are most likely heading down at any given time. This will also serve as the place where outfits can be changed if we do end up adding the alternate outfit feature.
• Hub Menu Improvement: The game currently has a rudimentary hub menu at the end of each work day where you’re able to talk to characters and on most days, sleep with them. This menu will be improved to have it feel more complete and have access to things such as the Character Standing menu alongside the Sweet Sensations Shop.

As usual, more info on these features will be provided as we continue development. We’ve got about a week left in June and there’s still quite a lot to get done this month. Until next time!
