SOOO I finally finished the video. The devil is in the dolls and once the dolls were in the families' homes the devil was able to manipulate the fathers to kill the rest of the families. If the family surrender themselves to the Devil like Lee's mom then they would be spared and basically do his bidding but because the families resisted the devil kills them through manipulation. Hopefully that makes more sense
