Some of these cons are so hot. 🥲🫣😩 Now I feel weird. FML

Claire West

Hmm perhaps his sentence has been changed since this video because it shows he was released in 2021

.

the only thing i regret when i became a patreon is that i only gave a small amount. ill change it.

when the criminal psychology video essay turns into WSHH fight comp #23

https://acestoohigh.com/got-your-ace-score/

See below for a snapshot of ACES and their relationship to perpetrating violence

I grew up in extreme poverty with a violent alcoholic mother. I don't kill or hurt other people. Environment is just another excuse

From 33:00 on, you see the character of most inmates (I have been locked up). They ENJOY seeing people get murdered... We are all turning away, and they're EXCITED by watching a man get his neck slashed

Who cares if rapists and murderers dont get to see trees or the moon>?

He's interviewing these people trying to frame the jail as bad and evil, as they happily tell you they act like this on the outside. How do you think they got there? Stop trying to frame jails as bad. Yes, theor are exceptions and innocent people locked up, but that's just simply going to happen. As a whole, you better thank god everyday these jails exist

The point of this video was to show the inhumane ways prisoners are treated. Sure some criminals deserve the worst punishment but if someone is going to be released soon into civilian life, why in god would you break them to the point where they can't even function? Solitary for long periods of time is the most inhumane way to treat another human being.

Qahar Raheel

Great video. I was two spots in the South and this is too real. My bunkie was pod boss so it wasn't too bad, but I saw some absolutely awful whoopings. I know ASL though so I was safe for comms. My advice if you get locked up in the dirty south is to be funny and jovial, but if someone checks you, go wild on their ass and make known that you're a psycho. Nobody wants to mess with a lune because they're unpredictable.

I bet the Greatest Fighter in the World bought himself that belt on Amazon.

S Shirai

This was one of the best documentaries I've watched. It was insightful and thought provoking, and I saw a different side to prisoners, as id overlooked the anguish they face. Also I don't know how JCS does it, but the video editing and narration is just spot on. I love when they pause the video and give insights into the persons thoughts and emotions. So great thanks so much for this content.

I had to skip some scenes where people were stabbed and inmates were fighting. Nothing very graphic, just intense.

very emotionally intense and details, many graphic, in the videos.

Is the reason for the viewer discretion simply because of the psychological stuff or is there gore seen in this video? Love these videos, but I want to make sure I'm prepared before watching.

SpyroShurtagul

Yes it is. I actually login through Safari on my phone. That way I can at least watch in full screen, or lock the phone, put it in my pocket and still listen.

Why is patreo so horrible for videos. It's ridiculous

I remember watching that episode with Louie and felt he was possibly crossing a line being so flippant walking thru the cell saying hello to them all, it felt tense. These inmates are the same teenage bullies that are tough around each other, for no other reason than to be respected by their peers, even if it's to commit terrible acts, as long as they save face, it's accepted

I think it’s easy to assume that this is the result of people’s choices so therefore they deserve what they get, and to some extent I agree. But for many in the system, they’re in an environment that is probably not all that different from “the paint.” Options are few, and they do what they must to survive while being forced to suppress who they really are in order to adapt to their surroundings. That Miami jail looks like hell on earth. Just imagine the lives of inmates in Brazil, Venezuela, or any other 3rd world corrupt country. Peak human misery.

i feel like he was saying exactly what Louis was thinking, but that i was too dumb to "just know" :D

JCS breaking down Louis, this is the perfect combination.

a very privileged take that conveniently ignores all social and environmental factors that would lead someone to criminal behavior. you know, it's possible to empathize with those who make bad decisions and still condemn their behavior. environment isn't an excuse, but it's absolutely a crucial factor in helping to explain and understand why someone made a certain choice. i think we should all be careful in dismissing these types of monsters too quickly because we all want to believe that it could never be us. well, in most cases that is probably true, but trying to gain a deeper understanding of our fellow humans, even the most depraved and vicious ones is crucial to us understanding how to evolve past this type of behavior, or to start to work on the factors that contribute to criminality like poverty or a lack of education. you don't have to approve of or sympathize with someone's actions to feel bad that for whatever reason they were driven to commit terrible acts. call me crazy but i think a lot of people would agree that someone who was driven to steal or rob because of environmental factors does not deserve to die. held accountable absolutely, but that person is still a human regardless of whatever crimes they've committed and to suggest that someone who was driven to rob is just a shit person who deserves death is an incredibly closed minded, sheltered and stone cold bummer view of the world and society.

Jared Cress

No one should feel sorry for these people. If you’re feeling anything put those feelings toward incentivizing not doing crimes. It’s like when people get mad a guy dies when he’s robbing a place…like don’t be a shit person and this shit won’t happen to you. Your environment isn’t an excuse. Most nazis were just products of their environment and no one feels bad for them

Hahahahaha true, especially being INSIDE a maximum prison cell with all of the criminals uncuffed..

That's kinda the point isn't it, environments like that aren't conducive to people changing for the better.

I genuinely don’t see how anyone can feel any bit of remorse for these people. I’ve worked in a maximum security prison before and dealt with offenders that were in solitary confinement from time to time. A good 90% of the folks in the prison do NOT change, because they choose not to; no matter what they say or how they act, it’s just that, an ACT. I’ve had shit thrown at me, I’ve been told many MANY things, i’ve seen so many dicks and i’ve seen my coworkers get assaulted. Of course some of the inmates were genuinely nice and changed their ways, but that was RARE. Don’t feel bad for criminals.

"good and evil are human constructs" no that is not the point of the video. Their environment is dangerous because it's filled with dangerous people. Murder is evil no matter when or where you do it.

Watching JCS break down a Louis Theroux documentary.... I feel like my wishes are being granted before I even think to ask for them

Love the end explanations of not looking at things as good or evil but seeing how their environment have shaped them. I feel like this is how we should be living our lives good and evil are human constructs it’s all about perspective, this is why being open minded is so important.

Absolutely incredible

Loved watching Louis’ goofy accent soften up the inmates

i mean, part of it too is - there are people in these conditions that are genuinely innocent. like in the video, there's someone who spent 30 years on death row that got released in 2014 when dna evidence proved he was innocent. and that's not like . . . an isolated thing, you know? studies differ, but i've heard anywhere from like 1-10% of criminals are wrongfully convicted. or cases like . . . the one guy talking about how he was 19 when he was sent to jail, and he's spent like 16 years in. i can't imagine the kind of damage that would do to your psyche, and he seemed genuinely deeply remorseful. and like . . . a lot can change from when you're 19 to in your 30s. i just think there has to be better ways of handling this.

seraf

It's a confusing feeling. I'm angry over what these people have done, but completely empathetic toward what they're going through. Two feelings that are not easy to have side by side.

Gabz

i agree with you that its hard to feel sympathy for these people, however as horrific as some of these choices are that have been made by some of the inmates, you can tell that they are truly remorseful. Obviously they have ruined peoples lives with the crimes they have committed and therefore deserve the time. But still sad sometimes to see that some of them have the hindsight to look back and realize their horrible youthful actions were not worth ruining so many lives over.

i’m so dumb i just saw how to like the video lol

Ibk

I'm trying but to be honest I can't feel sympathy for these people.

this was really good. wish there was a like button for the video. that 13y/o boy’s case was shocking- the development of it

Ibk

Dont want to be defined by my very worst moment in life most humans can change for the better but clearly not in an inviroment like this

What's fascinating about psychology is each of us has the ability to engage in psychological research and achieve understanding through self analysis of what we believe, feel, think while asking WHY do I believe, feel & think what I do. Self reflection is the key to understanding your own mind, thus the minds of everyone else. Nobody is better suited to analyze my mind than I.

being inside your home during a pandemic is not comparable to solitary confinement, don't be dense.

Morgan Briggs

Please! You fall for people's emotions much too quickly, especially when they deserve ZERO respect!

Are we supposed to feel sorry for these people? I have lived in solitary confinement since corona started w/zero problems, Only complaint is having gained weight since not being able to walk outside because my neighborhood has become way too dangerous here in Chicago. I committed no crimes but seemingly live the life akin to these folks. If they're unhappy about it though, I'm glad... you commit the crime, you do the time!

This is one of the best videos I've ever seen. It highlights the real struggles of the prison system and the inmates involved. They understand they have committed crimes against others but this is the only video I've seen where the inmates are still treated and observed like human beings stuck in an environment that offers little to no sympathy. Grown men breaking down in front of a camera to showcase what they are actually feeling is heartbreaking. I understand every single person featured in this video either took another human's life, caused another person pain, and put themselves in the situation they are living in but we tend to forget they themselves are also human beings and this video shows that. I really hope Jim makes this public on YouTube because I want everyone to see the dichotomy of what these inmates go through.

Jake

Ask Albert Einstein if fact and measurement is science. Empiricism is the antithesis to science.

That's a case of... bad baby

Josh Evans

If a black 2 year old killed 13 people should he be tried as an adult?

I am only in the beginning but I had to pause and say I was shocked to see Charlie Zelenoff mentioned in one of these but he definitely fits in this context. I am a boxing fan and honestly only thought other people in the boxing community knew about Charlie but I see I was wrong. For anyone who saw that part and thought "what a d*ckhead, youre right lol, and if you want to see him get his ass handed to him there are two videos that I know of on Youtube of him fighting REAL fighters and getting DEMOLISHED and it might be one of the most satisfying things I've ever seen.

the ones that got killed also had the right to see the moon so theres that

prison should be abolished. all human beings have the right to see the moon...

This one was intense. There really needs to be better prison reform in the states, and that includes post prison time programs and rehabilitation. The difference between solitary and maximum security is huge - its no wonder there is so much violence with inmates still needing to prove themselves and never feeling like being vulnerable is possible. Sweden recently closed all of their maximum security prisons because of amazing reform and investment into these types of programs.

ok mr. arpaio

Fuck these people. No sympathy. They deserve worse.

Kia ora!

In the U.S. jails don't really seem to be about rehabilitation TBH and they treat the inmates like animals. If you treat people like animals on a constant basis they're likely gonna become worse or act like animals themselves. Could be why the U.S. has one of the highest recidivism rates among the developed countries (It might be the highest, I don't remember). But it has been shown that treating inmates the way they do only makes them worse, and I'm sure in a lot of cases, after being released from that treatment you come out with a greatly increased sense of cynicism about the world and feel like there is less to lose etc. so you're probably much more likely to re-offend. Many people also get thrown in there for long periods of time for stupid things. Decent people getting absurdly long sentences for small drug possessions etc. but I think there are dark reasons for this, because it has been shown that prisons can be tremendously profitable. People who were decent by any standard that committed petty crimes and get thrown into the U.S. prison system quite often come out much worse than when they went in.

Unreal, one of my favourite videos yet. This doesn't go in-depth on the background of these people and the upbringings (socio-economic etc..) but if you have those lenses you can see that these people likely came from very unfortunate places. Ronald Sanford is the name that will resonate in my head for a long while, 25 years and counting. More articulate and coherent than most people I've ever seen. What a shame that he got sentenced to an adult length at 13 years old of a weak plea deal with his accomplice... who was released and then put back in prison for child molestation. I feel for Ronald with a double homicide under his belt, it genuinely felt like he had regretted and learned from his time, it seems there will be no leniency for even a child. Goes to show, even with rehabilitation not everyone is capable of turning the corner.

Double homicide at 13? Jesus Christ.....I think rather than simply filling up prisons it would be good for everyone if more was dedicated to understanding how a 13 year old could be driven to do that. I know that resources are committed to that, but nowhere near what is spent on just filling up jails. This is true in most developed countries

You can't help not feeling compassion for all the kids being raised in a harsh environment dictated by poverty and violence. When gang leaders are their only role models, it's not that surprising that those kids enter the justice system at a young age.

Chris Hayes

Loads of the fight videos are from Mt Eden prison in New Zealand, chur

Feeling sorry for the individual isn’t the point.

Are we supposed to feel sorry for the inmate on death row solitary being upset by the noise a month before his execution for rape and murder of a 36 year old woman, and who had raped several more women (including a 15 year old girl) before that? Awwww, poor diddums didn't like the noise? Fucking tough, mate.

not enough fight porn lol... but as always I love the content

Tyler

too much fight porn lol... but as always I love the content

This is an incredible insight into the human mind and how much our upbringings and socioeconomic factors influence us. I have a sense of despair just watching this, I can't fathom how the inmates feel. Also, maximum prisons need structural reform.

Yuno

I've watched this twice now. It's so well done. It really brings to light the deplorable conditions of US corrections. My heart breaks a little bit for all of these guys acknowledging that things like poverty and poor education beget situations like these.

Awesome work

That reporter had some serious balls to step inside of that cell. On a serious note this was hard to watch. Even tough they commited some heavy crimes. It sucks to see the decline of mental health and hopelessness of the inmates especially in solitary confinement. Thanks JCS for the video!

Yes! My heart rate had increased because I thought something intense was going to happen...

"psychology is a pseudoscience" you literally couldn't be farther from the truth. pseudoscience can't be proven, while it requires a scientific approach to understand psychology. therefore, psychology isn't pseudoscience.

Psychology is a pseudoscience. It depends on what you are talking about and in what manner as to whether it's scientific or not. Science is a method for ascertaining truth. Psychology is a heuristic way of understanding people; hence the replication crisis and DSM classifying every possible personality trait as a pathology if you want it to.

I show this video in one of my classes. Great stuff

What a video.. i cried

When he said that he's never done all the things that we often take for granted like filing taxes, go to prom, drive a car, etc... It really made me feel so sad for him. I mean yes, it was double homicide, but that still seems like such a harsh punishment for a kid of 13. We all do stupid things, especially when we're younger so that's just so sad that this guy never got the chance to ever learn and grow from his mistakes.

How the hell can a 13 year old get 170 years??!! That’s insane

"Just a simple touch. Somebody holding your hand or a hug from a friend. These simple things that people do every day and just totally take for granted." Damn...never thought I'd know how that feels but here 2020 came and put us all on death row lol.

deontay wilder already did

I've read the comments against capital punishment and I agree in some way...But in the case of the guy who stabed to death a other inmate...on camera....he deserves to die. I feel like alot of people want to forgive the criminals and they forget about the victims.

You’re crazy louis Theroux is a legend. He’s interviewed tons of legitimately crazier people, everyone loves him. Watch his stuff on YouTube.

id pound that sucker punch artist into next week ...what a fucking punk.

I interpreted your commentary at the end to be foreshadowing an attack when the interviewer was in the cell and asked a question designed to reveal emotional vulnerability.

From a white person point of view, I don't think their is an appropriate response when asked if you are a real n-word lol

WOW, interesting from the Covid-19 perspective.

I legitimately thought the interviewer was going to be attacked and killed at the very end.

This is a masterpiece!

Yep! I looked him up also and he deserved to be in solitary confinement the WHOLE time suffering

Super-max, and these prisons of this type, they turn what's left of the human into an animal. They reform nothing, help nothing, extend the arm of aid not at all.

O sages standing in God's holy fire As in the gold mosaic of a wall, Come from the holy fire, perne in a gyre, And be the singing-masters of my soul. Consume my heart away; sick with desire And fastened to a dying animal It knows not what it is; and gather me Into the artifice of eternity.

“You a real nigga?” “What do you think?” Lmao

amazing

Excellent!

A very well done video. Thank you.

I like Louis Theroux

Watching this video reminded my of going to school. Public school was a pre-prison environment.

It got a little stabby but I fast forward through that.

I’m always afraid to watch these with “extreme violence”. Is it really that bad?

This has been my favourite video you guys have done, a different approach yet a unique insight into the psychology of in-mates, if you are interested, you should look at how Norway manage their prisoners, all of them are in solidarity confinement, as you have stated, the change in psychology seems to help rehabilitate their mindsets to be some what acceptable for society

This video just makes me more worried for my younger brother, not a bad kid but I would really fear his psychological and mental health if put in that situation. Truly heartbreaking to watch but very well done video as always, thanks for sharing.

Cry me a river woman

Never disappointed by these videos. Such an eye opening experience. I absorb this information like sponge. The message was received and the video came together beautifully.

The Louis Theroux series on US prisons was deeply, deeply troubling. To see young men, many who havr been a product of their hostile and desperate environments, who make a bad or series of escalating bad choices, are are locked up in A CAGE FOREVER, is too horrific to think about for long. The flashes of pain on these guys faces, the tip of the crack that will split them in two shud they actually feel in the moment, the reality of their situation.... What is wrong with the USA? Dont they understand most of these people will get out one day and what? And those left inside will just rot in mind and body? Losing your liberty is supposed to be your punishment, not your to also take your entire humanity and soul... that's the real crime. Thanks Jim.

Armed robbery could be anything from a car jacking to western union. I'd argue that the biggest deterrent of shootings during armed robbery is the prevention of armed robbery in the first place. I dont know about you, but id wager that 15-35 is a very strong deterrent.

Why are we sending people away for 15-35 years for armed freaking robbery???? Man does that scream out how freaking ridiculous we are in regard to $ and allowing these bankers to run the show....The gd money is insured, its the banks, who almost always have 23 billion more, no one was killed or harmed, and people F up. Robbery is wrong and immoral, but after 10-12 years I think it's been paid for. OUR priorities are f uked and we allow bankers rights over children's rights every time. Child molestation, rape etc. WOULD NEVER get 15-35 solitary years.

Chasity Walraven

Agreed

That was sooo good

I’m very interested in the information and stories you have to share. I believe the greatest single thing you can get from another person is the experiences, wisdom and information they have.

I see your Chappelle Show reference!

i looked up the timothy gribble case before listening to what he had to say, and it removed any empathy i had for his situation...

Lol yeh when keeping it real goes really, really wrong

Man this was a good one

The main function of prison is punishment, the American prison culture is different from other countries and what might work in some countries may not work in America

I have a strong feeling you would excel in either/both topics

"gunning"... Thus, another shining nugget of urban vernacular is added to the "JCS" viewers' ever-expanding vocabulary 😏

I worked in a prison last year. Not a CO. But before working, we had a 6 week training program. It was essentially grilled into us that inmates are full of manipulation. Watching this was hard for me to determine if their emotions were true or part of their manipulation game. Are they truthfully remorseful? Or are they just upset in the situation they got themselves in? I've always been interested in psychology as I've dealt with depression and anxiety my whole life. Im starting my psychology program in May. Having a hard time deciding between mental health and criminal psychology. Watching your videos makes me want to lean more into criminal psychology.

does anyone know where the code doc went?

This documentary was depressing. I really hope that the American prison system can be completely restructured from the ground up. You shouldn't go to prison and come out with more range and mental illness than when you got in

Great documentary on this topic

This was rock solid. I don't think the brutal fighting footage needed to go on quite as long to make your point, but it's really good. Thanks!

An interesting topic for you to research will be how Christians fared/fare in imprisonment and forced labour in different countries over the years.. You will never hear of such stories from any other group of people, your worldview will be shaken and you will have so many more questions and sides to see..! I grew up in a Slavic community, my parents, grandparents, and great grandparents not only sharing THEIR stories, but imparting on us what they know, WHO they know - God Almighty. If you are interested in making a study of thousands upon thousands of supernatural, inexplicable (psychologically) stories from the time of the USSR (before and after as well), I am willing to translate, as I am bilingual and very fluent in Russian/Ukranian.

it's especially strange when you see their views on abortion. they are so against it, and yet don't truly value life.

Hello dear friends of JCS. My girlfriend and I live in New Zealand and we love JCS. I don't usually comment but I'm stunned by Americans attitude to capital punishment. The man who spent 30 years on death row only to be freed by DNA, meaning he was innocent should be all that needs to be said to end capital punishment. Had he not been cleared and had he been executed IS THAT NOT MURDER? How many have been murdered by the state? I am deeply depressed by the thought that a country that professes to hold human life sacred behaves this way. Thank you JCS.

Same here lol never even been on Patreon before Jim. Only got it for him.

Jon stay out of jail & you won't have to worry about anymore green rats. A dude from FL told me a giant palmetto bug flew on his face at night. Staying out can be tough the way the state likes to hand out cases.

Marijuana is definitely not violent and should be different. We are working on changing that thought the U.S. I agree with you. I also never thought I'd say this, but I actually support solitary confinement more. It actually allows them to process the actions that landed them there more so. I'd have to look at the self harm statistics to say for sure though, after this video it is definitely thought provoking.

Incarceration for long periods (sometimes even short periods) will kill the individual. Another person comes out, irrevocably changed, and hardly ever for the better. Non violent offenders do not belong in these situations. Lost my brother to Riker's when he was 18 on marijuana charges. He came out a completely different person, paranoid, anxiety-ridden, loaded with post traumatic stress. He was a musician and a poet. Our system destroys families, and kills innocent people.

one more thing, with regard's to the commentary of how individuals must present a certain type of persona in order to survive whilst incarcerrated - it is absolutely true. Had i spoken in jail/prison in the same way that i type these posts, i would have been beaten up on a daily basis. Instead, as everyone else, i had to adapt to the "language" (both verbal and physical) of the culture in order to survive (let alone thrive).

as an individual has been incarcerated in multiple correctional institutions throughout the southeastern U.S. (including the Miami "main jail" portrayed in this video as well as the above-stated Louis Theroux documentary), I can confidently state that i would rather do a month in any prison or jail that i have previously served time in than serve one week in the Miami "Main Jail". It is truly a horrendous place NOT because of the violent inmates but rather because of the horrendous conditions which range from green-tinted rats (i'd never seen a "green" mammal before in my life and can't imagine why the rodents of this facility are coloured in that way) to the overcrowded conditions of the cells (with individuals often having to sleep underneath bunk beds on the cold concrete floor upon which the aforementioned rats defecated/fornicated. It is no exaggeration to state that we were only monitored for roughly 10% of day. For the remaining 90% of the time we governed ourselves in Darwinian fashion. I only include this post as i figured that viewers might be interested in some "behind-the-scenes" information concerning the Miami Main Jail as viewed from a inmate's perspective.

“Are you a real nigga” Louis Theroux reply = I’m with the B.B.C BumBaClut.. then roundhouse kick..

57:00 he a savage for that response xD

Us prison exist not to rehabilitate but to punish

So you choose between psychological or physical punishemnt... Nice

This is one of your best videos. Psychology is such an interesting subject, an infinite realm of study that shifts and changes not only through environments and people, but over time. Forever fascinating.

People like Ronald Sandford who committed crimes while they were not only a minor, but still practically a child, who can look objectively at their crimes, who realise what a terrible act they committed, and talk about it with such a convincing sense of remorse, should be afforded the opportunity for some rehabilitation and a slow and controlled journey to at least reconnect with the world in some way. However heinous the crime was, does it really benefit anyone to keep someone locked away like that forever because of a crime committed at the age of 13?

Your answer to the question "Is Psychology a Science?" was such a psychologist answer.

I always find it interesting that the people who have been sentenced to death, which involves killing or torturing others, are now crying about their living conditions. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ British balls of steel though

When he said they talk like detroit but are from road island I blurt laughed and snorted that's so damn accurate

Thank you for this episode. Truly insightful.

I now know what waka flaka ment when he said he goes hard in the paint.

i thought gosh could this channel/creator/content get any better? And then you brought up Charlie Zelenoff as a clinical example.

I'm impressed with Jim's knowledge of Charlie Zelenoff. Danknet has a very in depth video on this clown I would recommend checking out

definitely gotta jump a patreon tier after seeing this. Amazing work

DISGUSTING

Jim can't swim and Louis Theroux in absolute awe

I live in Miami, and I was shocked!

This was incredible. The violence was almost too much for me but was so imperative to the points you raised it couldn’t of been edited better. Thanks.

This one was fascinating.

20:05 is really sad..

loved this

My favorite episode by far

Damn good episode. I would love to see more about prison life.

Well organized, directed, scripted, compiled, and narrated. Truly world class work again from JCS

Gypsy Rose Blanchard

Excellent

Damn... your content is so good... really makes me think about things I’ve never thought before. New perspectives. I love it. This is the only patreon I’m subbed to

Legend has it those guys in the grey shirts are still fighting to this day

One of the best episodes so far

That shit is mad is easy to say on this side of the walls.

What happened to the other old content

I wish they'd all come to these amazing revelations & insights & shown themselves to be so feeling & emotional & empathetic before they committed their crimes. Funny how that works.

What's so "colored" of the mathematical fact that 2+3=5 or the scientific fact that you need to combine sodium and chlorine to make salt? What boss? I believe your line of thinking is dangerous because it delegitimizes science and our pursuit of one true fact.

Science can be "pure," Math and facts? The "fact" is, that these equations, and their answers, are both coloured by the funder, the business, or government footing the bill. The discoveries made, may be "discovered" with the bosses agenda in mind.

Excellent video. Thank you

what about the guy that got set free after 4 months because of updated DNA profiling?

This is why I support the (SWIFT) dealth penalty. Prison is cruel and inhumane. Death is neither.

Poopoo

Most of the inmates throwing punches look like gumby in a fight

Works on iPhone. Need water wings? I’m sellin

giving me trouble too!

i would really like to watch all these vimeo videos that i paid for...

Is math related to science

When it comes to emotional off loading. I would say the person turns to their family is due to a few reasons. 1 would be protection. A known false sense that the can help you. 2 would be to look at them and capture that moment because the person does not know when or if they will see them again. 3 would be for comfort and reassurance.

Psychology is not science. Science is not math. Math is a descriptor, it only describes. Science is empirical. Most people do not understand science or what it actually is. That is due to the educational system in tandum with what is shown to be science. Most people think pseudoscience is science. A couple of pseudosciences are; cosmology, astrology. Science deals strictly with cause and effect. So first you observe a phenomenon, then you construct a hypothesis (independent variable, dependent variable, control variable, alternative and null). You must be able to manipulate the independent variable (the cause) during your experiment. If you dont have this you dont have science, you have pseudoscience.

gotta love the prison industrial complex...

saintbeau

This was so much harder to watch than I initially thought.

Speak for yourself.

Videos like these are why I started to give a damn about prisoners. I'm not a bleeding heart for all of them or anything, but some just make you think. Well done.

Really enjoyed this video

Wow. Just wow.

I agree. It's heartbreaking to see all the scum that have taken away peoples lives. Im heartbroken for the families, not the pieces of shit we're watching. Firing squad for all of um

it doesnt really work in Norway. pedophiles and rapists get 1-2 years, killers 5-10. mass killers and people who steal from the government get maybe 21 years. I guess it works if you are a criminal. Women dont go to jail at all.

What do you think we as society should implement for a real criminal justice system for violent criminals.. ?? How should it work??? The Norwegian jails seem to work well, I dont think it can work here though.

troy kyle??? I would love a update on him..

BFS! I believe Jim can swim and he has you all fooled! :D

DrMorphGTS

Incredible video, Jim. Thank you for your hard work 🙏

People like Charlie Zelenoff (spelling?), the guy who picks fights/boxing and uploads them to the internet - he probably has a small penis. Actually, you should do a video on that!

Donna

I could not help myself from laughing at "..pick up your penis, okay now turn around"

-What do we need? -New Jim's video!! -When do we need it?? -RIGHT NOW!!!!!!

Cool it’s coming today? :)

Where my dog Jim at? Hit us with an early video Jim!!!

Is there no new post for January??

This video is heartbreaking.

HYPED

Today is the day

New Video tomorrow!

❤️

It's not just you. The more patreons he seems to get the slower these uploads release. Sucks.

Greg Gory

These uploads getting rarer or is it just me...?

Y’all ready swimmers? 😂

I agree. Above Jim Can't Swim's own comment says he will be posting a video tomorrow January 30 at 6PM EST.

You should do the case of Dan Markel's murder... his wife's interrogation would be fascinating to get your commentary on

Rainy Greyer

11pm x

Will we have any new content to watch soon?? I hate to be impatient but I am paying to see content. I love your videos; make no mistake. Just hoping to see more content in the near future. Especially since I paid for January, and have yet to see anything new, and am about to be charged for February too..

Can You Do Sarah Kolb the girl that killed Adrian Reynolds?

Anyone known what time the live video will be in UK time?

Hope everything is ok Jim. Wanted to ask can you do the Hartung case plz?

1 day to go for new content ❤❤

Yay! Hope everything is going alright with you. :)

Next upload will be live on 30th Jan at 6PM ET x

Man Jim plz update us at the very least. We miss you

I feel smarter listening to JIM's videos.. I feel like a friggin ghetto aficionado on all things criminal.. I love your videos bro!!!!!

im dying for more!!!!

how do you find this stuff out?

Can we stop this "over a dollar" nonsense to dismiss valid comments? Please? How about 30,000 of you send me a dollar per month. I will proceed to provide no transparency or communication, and if you complain I will tell you "it's just a dollar".

New video anytime now?

new vid will be out the 30th

New vids and stuff out tomorrow. it was delayed

Lars Himself

WHERES THE NEW VIDEO JIM???

I need more Jim!!!!

I feel cheated when I see a post that’s been deleted. I’m sure the person said something truly shitty and I missed it. I don’t know why I enjoy that so much. People get so cranky over a dollar

Sarah

He's posting a video on the 30th.

Pls cover the interrogation of Todd hendhammer

Bella honey xx

I tell you most of this comment section needs pshyco analysis

patiently waiting the return of jim can’t swim

This is my favorite True Crime video channel, if only for the psychology of the interrogations. Can't wait for what's coming next.

lets av it

Jim is proving that he a real nigga' by taking some swimming lessons. You can't rush art, or swimming lessons. Take your time JCS. Peace.

Who wants an argument?

I thought Louis response was perfect too lol

Julie Gray

'You a real nigga?' hahaha I died!

Jim, we miss you. Lots of love.

Can’t wait

Jim Reeder

For real

Jim Reeder

Next upload will be live on 30th Jan at 6PM ET if y'all didn't see the comment on this post and in the Community tab. I'm already blowing up my water wings!

JIM WHERE ARE YOUUUUU

Yeah its somewhat tragic isnt it.

Jebus, I want a new video as much as everyone else. Surprised there are so many whiny piss babies in the comments. It's one guy making informative and emotionally taxing content. These videos are worth the wait.

COme Back Jim!!!

SparkyRebooted

it just means that whatever is being worked on is going to be quality, have some patience.

Sytze

You pay $1... Saying "but you make 30k a month, do more videos waaaa" is backwards. I pay $1, i don't care that 30 thousand people also pay $1 a month. Stop being so entitled or just cancel your subscription and get out of here :)

Then stop paying..

Knees weak arms are heavy he’s missing his JCS fix already

Do you plan on releasing the older videos like police interrogations 1-10?

Start to feel better already 👍

Good man Jim!

I vote you go ahead and donate the extra $11 then. What’s keeping you from it? Did you already do it?

Next upload will be live on 30th Jan at 6PM ET x

Jim C. Swim is my TRUE LEADER here’s my pledge 💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸

My point is I’m not going to a theatre ever again to watch those Hollywood retarded movies. So i ou now have 11$ Left after I pay my Jim can’t swim. I’m ready to pay 12$/month for Jim cant swim videos. I don’t want more or less videos, I just think some people deserve to be leaders in the movie/video/podcast business and others like Hollywood/CNN/FOX/etc. Should’nt

Last time I went to see a movie at the theatre, it cost me 12$. That was a stupid blockbuster with total lack of logic. I never ask myself where my 12$ went and how the actor in the movie were making each month, but now, I know for a fact that the producer was sexual predator but I’m not complaining about that 12$ I’m just never going to

I don’t feel good, I’m sweating, I have nausea, I can’t sleep... I need a new video. Jiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiim helpppppppp meeeeeee ! FEED ME A NEW VIDEO

I really enjoy reading the disgruntled messages on here. Keep em coming.

Sarah

im about to start ripping chunks of hair out of my scalp unless i get my jcs fix!!!!!

Hello!

B thankful for any content at all we all eat them up but imagine the research and time it takes to compile and analyze even one case

Literally just me. It's upsetting, at least if he would upload the older videos i would still have something to watch

Just thought I'd say hi to everyone else who's coming to see if there's new content, knowing that there isn't because you haven't received that email (while still hoping)

Jim atleast give us an insight as to what's going on, you have a whole team of people. I don't mind when the videos come, but just let us know, this is just lazy.

Zuri

He gets 50k+ per month from patreon/YouTube combine. I think he can do more than 1 video a month. Especially considering that there is no filming involved. I know he's content is good, but hes putting out way less than he did before, and getting way more profit. I'm one of the under 10k subs, so I know. So 1$ is not really the point. I'm not salty, just want more content out of this guy or a team.

Postsmart

This definitely was one of the harder videos to watch... so much so that I had to take breaks watching it throughout. Nonetheless great and very insightful.

Where's the next videos? Its been almost a whole month.

I want more videos they are so goooooooooooood where r u jim did u drown :(

personally i like the monthly payment setup. just my .02

I sell water wings anybody need some?

Jim, I think it's better if we pay per video, rather than per month. I would definitively buy or rent, even if it's more than 1 usd.

Guilherme Nunes

What's with all the toxicity?!? I'd rather wait and watch a quality production over some hastily thrown together garbage.

JCS, I have no complaints. Your videos are informative and amazing and entertaining and all for $1. I come back once in a while to check your videos and I get my fill and I'm satisfied. If I could have an endless supply of your videos? I'd be super pleased, but hey, that's not how life works. Keep up the good work, and I'm thankful for the work and effort you put into your videos.

TheBebeCheese

I just hope they release this video you speak of tomorrow.

It's a $1 a month people, chill. He does good work. Quality over quantity.

I'm ready to pay more if that means we get more videos every month. I'm checking every day now...

Mike Joe

The natives are still restless

Sarah

Imagine if Jim was making a psychological video about how people react when restricted from his extremely addictive uploads? Plot twist for sure... and that's why he's lagging, to get more qualitative evidence of people either non stop complaining or non stop defending, and then analysing which type of person chooses which side. This is where my mind goes with no videos Jim. This is where it goes.

Where the heck is my $1 going?

"he fleein' and 'luding... only other thing we can tell you is he is a prolific editor; he storyboardin' at all them assets."

Hello hello again! Shadoobi dabi shadobidabi. Life could be a dream if JCS could make an analysis about Dennis Oland. Then life would be a dream come true!

so you keep being a patron lol. you'll notice all content creators release something near the end of their month to keep the money coming in. can't blame them really

Lars Himself

*Old curmudgeon man voice* “I recall the days when that Jim Can’t Swim uploaded two videos per month. Those really were beautiful times, Effie.”

still no video's!!!! Jim we are desperate for your videos, our brain might starve if it takes any longer.

So depressing you never release new material once a month seems lacking

whens the next video? are they always end of the month?

I would be interested in watching a background story about Jim and why he started making his videos.,

Just came aboard. Spectacular info.

Charlie z is a legend

I am fiending for more jimmy

Wooo a timeframe of a few days for a new video! Now I must endure the last leg :D

Yes. They'll be reuploaded alongside the next episode in a few days x

any updates on when the old interrogations that got taken down will be up?

@Jim where you at dawg?

Aesthetics

ps... can you do the botched interrogations in the Kent Heitholt case? The one where Ryan Ferguson was wrongly convicted? PLEASE!

I wouldn’t worry... we all want more content because it’s so good.

DId this guy fuckin die or something

JIM WE LOVE YOU

Micah Hess

It’s not working for me I can’t watch it :c

I really think it's pathetic to complain about JCS's volume of content. When it happens, it's great, when not, figure out something else to do, like: 1. Do the dishes. 2. Go outside for the first time in six weeks. 3. Clean the toilet. 4. Take a shower, your family will thank you. 5. Empty the trash. 6. Go for a walk. 7. Start reading something. 8. Change professions if you cannot afford 12 bux a year. Cannot believe how quickly people start to clamor for MORE MORE MORE. Who knows what's going on in JCS world. Maybe he has a corn on his foot which required several weeks of treatment. Maybe he's had the flu. Maybe he is taking a well-deserved vacation. Rick & Morty on the other hand: Now that is some BULL. SHIT. But I digress. Good, quality content takes time.

That’s the general consensus it seems. I’m gonna canx. soon I think

Can you post the here missing videos? Thanks Jim can’t swim.

Jones-ing for my... $1 worth of monthly content! I GET IT'S LOW, BUT PLEASE J!M!

i left a comment about how much this channel is making, i guess what i didn't clarify was this, this channel has built up a huge following and revenue to go with it, the point i was trying to make is it needs to scale up its production to meet the demand it created,... that's how business works, if you can't meet the demand you will eventually lose it again, i would pay 5 dollars no problem a lot of people would but , like this, no updates , a drop in video releases instead of an increase? people will lose interest soon, i know i am,... how much would it cost to even answer a few questions? i love the content and im not complaining about that at all but look at all the people begging for more come on they wont wait forever

toe-knee

Jim! Will the videos that have been removed from your YouTube channel be posted to your patreon?

Here it is, 3 whole weeks into 2020 and I've yet to get a JCS fix. I'm jonesin', man. I can't wait for a new video!

Amber White

Some chnls I've stayed here just to support, but Patreon gets worse and worse... Can't heart comments, and half the time I try to post and they don't post, and this happens more and more. And with less uploads from certain creators and others won't even play unless I'm home, ya, this is my last month for all of it. I wish creators would leave this God awful platform. Most of my Favs have

Em22

hope for something new soon!

jim, i cant take it anymore. at least tell me when are we getting a new video. =(((((((((((((((((((((((

:(

The natives are getting restless...

Sarah

Holy shit! You talked about Zelenoff!

I increased mine to a whopping $3 after a month we got 4 videos (between YouTube and Patreon) for just that reason. Then came the drought. I feel at fault for this.

I'm happy with what I get for $12 a year. I would pay more monthly for more content though for sure.

Robert

What you wrote sounds like those people saying: "I'm not really racist but..."

For anyone talking about how much Jim makes per month on this patreon... he could realistically charge $2 or even $5 and most people would pay. While I would love more content, I don't think berating someone who makes amazing in depth videos monthly for a $1 subscription fee is a good idea. The only thing worse that one video, is none video.

Glad to see Charlie Zelenof mentioned. I hate that deranged bastard.

As usual, great video !

I'm not really into the death penalty but the white supremacist dude was terrifying and needed to be permanently removed... 100%.

I totally agree. This would be amazing!

Jim, could you put your behavioural lie detecting skills to work on Bob Lazaar the claimed area 51 worker. That would make an intetesting video!

Excellent video !!

An hour video, for a 2 second moment. The depth in which it was discussed is amazing.

me too..now its every few days and soon it will be more ..thanks to all involved for this great work

Your videos are amazing ! I'm obsessed.

Lesley Baxter

Whenever it gets past the two week mark since JCS has released a new video, I start visiting this page multiple times per day waiting like an impatient child.

MSau

God, Vimeo is awful.

Alot of your videos have been removed from Youtube. Any Chance of reuploads here on patreon?

i love your videos, but i'm considering stopping my patreon. 17 days no update, videos, anything.

kind of cutting it close on the monthly content here

Please put out more content guys, I know you put a lot of work into your videos but once or twice a month seems very low. Theres so many fascinating subjects that you can expand upon.

Anyone else see an elephant in a suit?

LordanARTS (https://www.youtube.com/user/GeekenDorx) covers real missing peoples cases. Hours of content. Criminally Listed (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCs3iFCPtX0gzkKxCrobO4ig) covers real murder cases and explains them in detail. Derek Van Schaik (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC65EDzqpOAQZLBmAdHAnZng) does INCREDIBLE body language videos. Hope this helps!

Jim! Love your content! So glad youre still on the net.

I wonder if jim ever thinks about doing a video about the psychology of people who complain on here about not getting enough uploads?

Miss you daddy xo

Bella honey xx

PLS

Need. New. Upload.

Can anyone recommend some YouTube channels that are similar to this? I have already watched all of the JCS videos 2-3 times haha

when are you guys going to move the older youtube content to vimeo? i'd love to be able to catch up on the videos i missed.

I gotta find out everything about those super max guys

MORE INTERROGATIONS PLEASE WE NEED IT KING

Wonderful video, excellent work

Great video

The last Unicorn

why show so many fights?? like, we get it jim

You guys need more content! At least weekly.

Any update on reuploading the videos that were taken off YouTube? It's cool if you're busy with real life, but it's not making a new video, it's just reuploading them, even to a new host...

A good episode for scared straight. We could end these prisoners suffering with a simple bullet. Boo hoo psychopaths.

It's so strange, this really highlights the point that Jim is making. That was how the moment made you feel (totally understandably, it was a very intense moment) and for me I just kind of wanted to give the guy a hug. At that moment, I could feel the pain in him and I saw someone's little boy. I'm not some "Let's all give prisoners daily hugs and visits to wonderland" type of person. I do believe they deserve to have human rights and I'm against the death penalty for various reasons, but I do believe that there should be some kind of punishment and rehabilitation if possible for a crime. But that moment just hit me so differently.

I would love to see a video on the Dan Wozniak interrogations, phone call and confessions!

jim please post more often

Any new videos soon??

The video of the man being killed by the white supremacist inmate did something terrible to my spirit. I had to disengage because I was physically ill. That being said, this is real life. People do horrible things to each other. You all did a superb job with this video. I can't commend your hard work enough guys!

I'm really happy you included Charlie Zelanoff in this video. That is the living, breathing example of living under false pretenses/character.

13th amendment

i check daily,i can't get enough of these videos.

Love the Devvo walk. Takes me back.

Jordan Siddall

1st week after newly released video : check once a week 2nd week after newly released video : 3 - 4 times a week 3rd weed after newly released video : 1-2 times daily 4th week after newly released video : once every hour

I’m curious as to the average. How many times a week do you check for a new video? I’ll start: 4-5.

Not my favorite video but still worth the time and wait...oohh please do more interigations they are the best I'd like more on baby snatchers or maybe woman killers

The video is not working for me either. EDIT: Solved, It was the browser (brave webbrowser), try a different webbrowser if the video doesnt want to load.

Finally! I'm always waiting for the next JCS video! Some of the very best content being made these days on any platform!

Ugh., the video flashed for 1/2 a second then blank. Any ideas?

Seems there are many prisoners with cameras these days.

As an avid UFC fan i was like tfff lmao did not expect to see that mouth breather here

The penultimate sentence.

No child should be put in prison, period. American prisons are horrendous for adults just as is, but I truly cannot fathom why anyone would think putting a 13 yr old in prison would be acceptable. There are other ways to hold people accountable. Just brought so many tears to my eyes.

cali sierra

Same ☹️

Well that's depressing, sounds like you need someone that builds you up not knocks you down, but then again I'm a stranger on the internet :-) Congratulations on your degree.

Absolutely fascinating. If you grew up in Miami (the real Miami not what you see on TV) then you know about TGK, and if you know about TGK you know to steer clear of anyone who’s been an inmate there. Ironically everyday vultures circle the sky above the building, or used to at least. Well done.

I’m dying for a new vid Jim!

He's a quality over quantity type guy, I'd expect a YT video and a Patreon only video at least once a month

im kinda new to jcs. how often does he upload a new content? its almost torturing to wait lol

My husband always called my degree in Psychology with an emphasis on abnormal psychopathology a pseudo science, it always hurt a bit.

Yeeeeeees!!! :D

its awful how human beings are treated like animals in the american prison system. prison should be about isolation from society and rehabilitation, not punishment.

Fascinating and brilliant as always. Thanks, JC

Jessica Figueroa

Can't believe you brought up Charlie in one of your videos haha

Sounds more like a you problem. Vimeo has always worked fine for me. I highly doubt that he's losing subscribers.

The Vimeo hyperlink was working yesterday now it's back to not doing anything again. This new setup is slowing down everything and it's losing you subscribers. I would get this fixed with patreon asap.

No. Psychology is not a science. It is an art, for exactly the reason he described. All I need to do to prove this is invite you to look back at the many revisions of the DSM and countless peer reviewed articles that are inconclusive because subjects are impossible to quantify. The psychological field is in its infancy, and even the most seasoned psychologist will testify to that. I'm not sure what your degree of expertise is, but in mine, I see that professionals in active practice pretty much agree on this.

cheapchianti

Sorry jim. Psychology is a statistical science, there's no argument.

when will there be another episode jim!?! I live for you episodes and without new ones I am lost :c

JCS this is excellent content. Shut up and take my money.

cheapchianti

Oh my god.. those last few minutes I was sweating in dread thinking he would hurt the reporter...

Amazing! This was like a roller coaster of emotions! Great Job

I appreciate the lack of censorship. It creates a compelling and powerful narrative.

Zakkuri

The dudes that were exonerated after 30 years... That was the worst for me.

This worked earlier, but now it’s doing that same thing where it flashes on screen for a fraction of a second, then goes black

Elena

Last I time I checked he had like 17000 patreon followers, probably more now. That's at least 17000-20000 a month conservatively, plus youtube. I'm guessing its more like 30-50k a month at this point. He should be cranking out way more than what he does. I dont mind at all paying him a buck from the content, but it somewhat bothers me that he's not really giving back more to the community that's giving him so much.

Postsmart

Really enjoyed this one although it was hard to watch.

This one was super interesting. The stabbing part was so hard to watch though I didnt expect it daaaaamned !! Does someone knows what crimes Lars Hansen comitted ? I read that he was in general pop now.

"you a real nigga?" - what do you think?

jamie

That George hugely was so good for some reason I liked to watch it over and over

Youtube took down a lot of his stuff due to content violations. According to JCS, all the videos that have been removed from YT is here on patreon

Will you reupload some of the stuff that was taken off YouTube? I was looking for the Karina Vetrano video and can't find it...unless I'm blind :(

Did you remove a lot of the you tube content? Is it posted somewhere else ?

Again, I only ask one more video this month for the previous delay. Please Jim. Please.

Food, water, clothing, & shelter from the weather are basic human rights. Cozy quarters & porn magazines are not.

Loved the video, thank you JCS!

My gf and I check for new videos of yours all the time and are overjoyed when we see you've posted another. Keep up the great work!

I love love love your videos, just wish you'd be able to make them full time, so we could have them more often! Regardless, thank you for all that you do.

brilliant video, keep it up!

Think he did something on Luka already.

the black gentlemen at 25:52 who said the typical "My mom did the best" but then goes to name off addiction, abusiveness of 2 types.... im sick of that shit, his mom was a terrible person. IM SO sick of that phrase, SHE DID HER BEST. People can always do better. saddest moment in the video the cut from him, to 5 years later.... god damnit! (thx jimbo)

Oslo Zeimantz

Will the George the Fifth video be put back up on Patreon? I noticed it was taken down from youtube

yeah, I watched this video about a week ago and there are some awful parts to this video that you may not want to watch right now after what happened to you recently.

That frickin guy was on kimmel

Jazminne Haywood

Wow. Wasn’t anticipating that. I’m 6:44 in and I have a serious question for you guys. Before Friday I have never seen a jail cell. I got arrested for failure to appear (I WAS THERE!) And was sent to county jail and it took them two days for me to let me use the phone so I can call my parents. It was by far the worst two days of my entire life. I just want to know how deep I can watch this because it’s super triggering. The sights the sounds make my stomach hurt. I know how much I sound like a baby but maybe it’s too fresh is this entire episode about incarceration? Thanks :-)

Jazminne Haywood

maybe cover the "Kai the Hitchhiker" case?!

Jonas

As a student working towards a degree in psychology, I consider your work as a quality teaching tool. Thank you so much for what you do. An aside; you may want to go on Amazon Twitch as a tertiary platform, as there is a strong existing base that you can tap into :-)

Agreed. To me this episode just shows how freaking hollow most of these guys are. They simply adjust their behavior based on their audience. It's all just another form of manipulation.

What a nightmare

Linus Wärn

Amazing work, Jim, thank you so much!

happy New Year 2020 everybody!

JazzyJay

Jim what can you do about Luka Magnotta from the Netflix docuseries dont f with cats?

The things "happened" to his victims, things didn't "happen" to Troy, he did them.

He has gotten much more than a million views in total on YouTube.

I’m happy you finally have gotten over a million views on YouTube. Your content is impeccable and you guys have deserved it from the get go. THANKS DAD.

36:12 they thought that white boy was playing lol

best video yet

This was amazing! Best video yet

This was depressing. I was especially shocked by all the fighting. 30 years for armed robbery seems excessive, I've seen murders get less time.

happy new year! thanks for the content ! vimeo is fair shit tho i just speed tested my internet connection and it shouldnt be buffering constantly at 540p when on youtube 1080 no problems at all

If you treat people like animals they become animals. Prisoners make easy targets for people to be judgmental, and let out their frustrations on. We might not be murderers, but just as Jesus said: Who is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone They're still people who should have their basic human rights met. The death penalty is also unethical. If murder is illegal, then make it illegal for everyone and not have a state monopoly on it. And for fuck's sake, throw some porn mags in there, so they can have a jerk session. Maybe it'll reduce the violence.

It's fine for me. What else should be use?

Vimeo sucks. Always buffering/ loading slow

“Are you a real nigga” “ what do you think?”

Tyler Lavoie

It is fantastic, I wish they would have let him keep going though, it was 85 percent done I feel.

I wish you had shown Deontay Wilder kicking Charlie Zelenoffs ass, that was one of the most satisfying videos I've ever seen. For anyone who hasn't seen it,please do. You will be a much happier individual after.

completely agree. Jim's content has been unlike anything i've ever seen before. i've loved every episode but this one specifically was outstanding.

for a "bottom" bunk lol. fuckin crazy tho!

yea, DEFINITELY don't watch this episode then. Literal murder by stabbing. Horrific stabbing....not that there is any other kind, but this is brutal. That said, it's another amazing episode. This was one of my favorites probably....loved the way Jim brought it back in the end. Very well done.

Can anyone tell me why this has viewer dicretion? Is there gore? I dont want to see gore.

“Poverty itself is not a strong predictive factor for violent behavior” I would love to see a scholarly study that uses some statistical data to support this notion. As I understand it, poverty is a fairly decent predictor of violence, and violence is a direct symptom of poverty, although some sociologists believe violence does quite a bit to perpetuate low socio economic standing. I’m perfectly willing to be wrong here, and maybe I am misunderstanding this statement from a semantic perspective. I’m not sure anyone would argue that poverty strips away one’s agency or ability to form a moral framework, but that the environment and circumstances can greatly skew the individual’s relationship or perspective of violence.

Gladiator Days is a must watch on youtube, i will and never would condone the things troy did but he is 1 hell of a human being so smart ,such a shame what happened to him, his victims and his family. keep up the good work jim <3

Please stop using vimeo, its too slow

How do these assholes get cell phones in prison? I thought that was verboten.

This is the kind of research that lets you do science on psychological processes.

Yeah but should we really feel sorry for these muthafuckas who did something horrible? I'm sure I may sound like a total asshole, but I wanna know what these dudes are doing time for...than I might feel for them...I'm just saying...

Denyse Van Leuven

Fuckin' waaaa mate ???! I miss devvo, absolute gold

Yeah, he's very unthreatening to the people he interviews and normally gets real good content from them

So what are you suggesting, that JCS manages every court room in the world? This statement doesn't make any sense..?

did you comment this after watching the video?

Mike Joe

I thought that Rodney was gonna attack the interviewer for prying for an emotional response.

Jim Reeder

They deserve basic humane treatment, though, because they are human. If we don't offer humane conditions to others, even for the worst people, we bring ourselves down closer to the level of those we (rightfully) despise.

Nyanbinary

Oh my god, Charlie Z in a JCS video. Life is weird and wonderful, innit?

It amazes me how they almost seem like they're looking for sympathy for living in bad conditions because they are murderers. Like, never mind that I killed people- can you believe that I have to sit on concrete!?!?

The only thing I want in life is a full Jim C. Swim on Charlie Z.

Devvo in a Jim Can't Swim video. For those who spotted it my respect. My life is now complete.

Mordecai

As if being murderer adjacent isn't bad enough, you get thrown into a cell called 'the paint' & have to fight for a bunk??

Love your video Jim, but i missed the one we could watch on Youtube player because of the auto caption option.. For the non-native speaker can be tricky to understand sometime, anyway thank you the awesome work.

I’ve never personally been summoned for jury duty, but the more JCS videos I watch, the more certain I’ve become that "Jim" - with his [or her!] extensive wealth of criminology knowledge, psychological insight & interrogation expertise - would be an absolutely AWESOME jury foreperson! Whether the accused is guilty OR innocent, I’d feel pretty reassured that the CORRECT verdict would be reached if Jim was there - steering everyone in the right direction - & hence Justice could safely be served!

Ronald Sanford shouldn't be released. He gave two people the death sentence. And he's manipulative in the interview. Interviewer asks: "Do you blame your mother." and he responds "No I don't blame my mother." Then immediately goes on to blame his mother saying he was "trained to kill". Bullshit. He's a shitty person and he's were he belongs.

Jim Reeder

Merry Christmas to all! It's been a hell of a night! Thanks Jimbo.

Jim Reeder

Jesus Christ Jim, you really outdid yourself with this video. You got me fascinated with psychology. I really hope you're a teacher of some sort irl because you are amazing.

Peter Sorensen

A thoroughly entertaining video. Great content, I look forward to the next video.

It's a part of culture, the last guy in the clip from New Zealand was being trained.

I love Louis...hes really the best.

and most car rental places wont let you rent a car under 25. Apparently personal responsibility is only applicable to murder in the US

which one was that?

when you watch the full doco its from, its only really tense when they first walk in the cell, its actually a relief when they find rodney and he's happy to see them. but yeah Louis Theroux is fearless, he once talked down a mob lynching in a south african slum

Man how can you try a 13 year old for murder when he barely knows what the fuck he is doing? I'm all for punishment for the crimes but jesus christ the guy a was a boy. 13 year old are idiots. How can a jury convict him of life at that age. For fuck sake in America the age of consent is 18 and you cant drink until you are 21 but you can charge 15 year old to life? That's fucked up.

TerrinPS

Jesus you sound entitled.

Jim if im totally honest, although this video is top tier in terms of structure and context, you have already covered this topic multiple times over, even some of the felons in this video have been in your previous videos. I know I will get hate for saying this but i'm getting tired of being excited for your videos only for it to be a repeating case you've already dissected deeply. None the less you guys are still amazing and looking forward to your content in 2020.

Zuri

Still no dice.

The "open an honest" prisoners is super max are using a an artificial persona as well. It's the best one to ingratiate themselves with the guards.

Which teenager hasn't assaulted someone with a deadly weapon in order to rob them??? Kids will be kids...

Like many of the audience here, and JCS as well, I've watch hours, days, weeks, of YouTube and documentary videos on this subject matter... I have to say JCS, this is one of the best... truly. So many other content creators try to cover the fear and rage that make this subject fascinating while also attempting to humanize the subjects they interview behind bars... It often seems to come off forced or miss the mark in some way. Not true with yours, this is video was very hard to watch, not just due to the violence and graphic scenes, but also because your insight and commentary often challenges the natural state of how I would feel towards some of the people interviewed. Thanks, for the video and keep up the top-notch content...

Wow. I had to take little breaks during this amazing video, how you manage to shine the light on the compassion that exist in all of us, the choice of images, I had seen every documentary you use in your video, but you masterfully picked all the perfect moments where you feel like the only thing differencing me and the human behind bars is nothing but whatever you want to call it, parenting, geographical socioeconomic, a celestial shitty, excuse my french, roll of dices.

Holy crap I thought Rodney was gonna jump the journalist!

OH NO!!!! Jimmy's done name-dropped the GOAT. It's only a matter of time now. lol.

Haha crazy! I thought i was the only "Tibbe" around here subscribing to this channel. Hello nickname-twin!

Who cares what Timothy Gribbly thinks? A man who raped and killed two women wants to talk about his sorrow on death row?? Why does he get that privilege?

Yeah supermax is all safe and stuff, until the Clintons get a problem with you

I love this channel but this particular video was a bit too gruesome for me, personally. I know they all say viewer discretion is advised, and looking back I missed that this one had a more detailed warning so it’s my own bad, but we don’t usually see footage of actual murders happening 😞

The Code is what I was thinking of - a two part series

30 years for a armed robbery when he was 19 and some people here are saying "YOU HAD IT COMING"... That's utterly ludicrous.

Aesthetics

For me personally there where a few to many unnecessary "boxing matches" and stabbings then needed to get the point across but great video as always, super informative and great insight.

The suspense during the last few minutes had me on the edge of my seat. I wish we could get a few more videos per month but I still do believe in quality over quantity.

Video isn't working for me either. I'll check back tomorrow.

max security rehabilitation. did you watch the video?

Crownic B

I may have mentioned this before, but your use of stock photos (are they stock?) is brilliant. The resolution is insanely high, and therefore future proofed. You are a genius. I feel like there has to a be a team of you guys making this videos

I agree with the user above me. Not enough emphasis is put on the victim in western countries. I knew murder was wrong when I was 13, didn't you?

amazing amazing video! thank you jim!

I thought the end of the video and the question of science vs. Psychology could have been expanded on. However I thought this video was interesting.

The man he's talking to at 10:40, you can see in his eyes how scared he is and how he doesn't believe anything he is saying :(

Canary Quill Astrology

I liked the video. I think we should probably do better for the folks in jail. Having to fight is ridiculous. Safety should be a priority in jail.

As an academic discipline there's no doubt psychology is a science - psychologists hypothesize and test

Thank you jim. I loved this video!

And if you do... ask for a lawyer straight instantly

The video isn’t working for me, anyone else???

There’s more to Charlie Zelenoff though; he has a YouTube channel where he basically mocks his own efforts in the titles. He’s doing “a thing”...it’s a hussle...and there’s a good chance he has mental issues too.

Can you do a video detailing and covering Russ McKamey AND mckamey manor

h4u5pr1nc35s4

great and insightful video guys 👍

Should have shown the vid where that guy that goes around hitting people gets his ass handed to him. Some big black man owned him.

I loved this episode! A very fascinating watch indeed.

some are from the guard station.

who is recording these fights? like do the prisoners have cameras??

Loved this as much as any of the interrogations, make what you want, it's all good stuff.

I would say that murdering two people is a little above and beyond "making bad choices." It's not like he stole a candy bar. He MURDERED two people.

The one of the man who was sentenced at 15 is so sad. It’s not right. He was a child, children don’t even have fully formed centers for empathy and decision making at that point. Everyone is vulnerable to making bad choices. Why is he punished and others get away?

Man I would not last in jail at all lmao. I would be a moor/duck getting stabbed. These videos remind me not to commit any crimes ;)

5 years will age you that fast?.... He must have gotten sick.

I agree with some of the other commentators. Yes, prison life is terrible, and it might be isolating or very viciously dangerous. But these people are paying for their crimes. The only exception are the wrongly convicted victims, like the one man who served more than 15 years.

That's pointless tho, prison should help them repent not help them become even bigger monsters than what they are (it should *help* fix them, its not all about punishment). that being said, i cannot for the life of me find any sympathy in my heart for pedos, killers and rapists. those monsters will never change imo. i hope i'm wrong

No offense but the prison vids are my least favorite. I'm sure one in a very great many are innocent but for the most part the justice system works and they are exactly where they need to be and never get out again. I can have compassion on a convicted murderer if he stays behind bars. And I'm glad it's not a happy place and that nobody should want to go there. I worked in a jail briefly and from my limited experience the guards try hard to do a good job following the rules of protecting the prisoners and seeing to their food, visitations, doctor visits, hair cuts, lawyer appointments as well as all the stuff they buy from the commissary. I don't feel sorry for them. They deserve to be treated like humans who have harmed and or murdered other humans... with a measure of respect but following a very strict protocol of safety measures handling them. Society must have standards of conduct it absolutely cannot tolerate to be broken for any reason and a place to put them that break those standards for selfish reasons.

This was a wonderful display of the politics involved in the bing, I did three years and there were scenes here that relayed the best information to what its like in various levels of jails/prison. Not many movies get close with the exception of Shotcaller, I recommend this movie to anyone wanting to know what prison life is really like and how easy things can turn. Thank you for the content, this was well worth the wait.

Robert

I think it might be on your end. I don't have an issue with buffering

Henry McCollum THIRTY YEARS on DEATH ROW!!! freed through new DNA testing. At least an innocent man wasn’t killed but he still spent decades in living in hell while condemned to DIE for a crime he didn’t commit!

The buffering time on these is insane. Can you do something to improve it?

Interrogations > Prison footage

In my country in northern Europe, the Max sentance is 25 years and its very rare that someone even get that sentence. A murder usually gets you 10-15 years and our prison system is mainly built around rehabilitation and compassion. Gang members and rugged people see this as a weakness in the system and they use this to their advantage.

this was just brilliant, thanks jimmy you old dog.

Not letting me watch

Charlie

Jim previously did two (I think) videos on life in prison which included some of the fight footage shown here, but I think they have disappeared too.

great rendition of facts man keep it up.

You have ruined someones lives, its only fair yours is gone too, if not death penalty, then life in jail and everything that comes with it. And no way to get a second chance. Good vid tho!

I find myself sympathising with the subjects you pick all too often, only to remind myself of some of the disgusting crimes that they committed, and that they're often only sorry once they're in jail. Outside of it, they wouldn't have hesitated to fuck me over

why wont it open for me

Noticed this as well. Content is missing.

"penalties for all offenses need to be way harsher" I would say this is largely untrue for most crimes in general but largely true for *violent* crimes

I'm definitely less interested in the offender's perspective (I generally think penalties for all offenses need to be way harsher) but certainly appreciate any JCS content.

Happy New Year Everyone! Does anyone know where the link to police interrogations pt. 1-8 has gone? Seems like some of the older post are missing....

I’m eating Pizza, Ravioli w/ Meat Balls, Spinach & Artichoke Dip, and Boneless Chicken Wings! Boston Pizza Carry Out!! :D Happy New Year! (:

I’d be curious to see you do a video like this but in the setting of a female prison. I wonder if the same kind of violence and tough persona occurs at this level.

I'm having the same problem.

Anyone else have trouble loading vimeo? I find Youtube doesn't have this issue

I thought the same thing, although people don't understand the east side of Detroit, considering it would be Canada. Unless you live here, you wouldn't know

Sue Loiselle

'What do you think ?' loved it

Where is the chance at reform? The most you would likely serve in New Zealand for armed robbery is about 6 years with a maximum of 10 years. American prisons are insane. Just want to add that sometimes I think NZ is too lenient on serious crimes like rape and murder.

would you learn how to swim already?

Yet again, you've given me something to think on in my free time Jim. Have a happy new year.

Boslo Kerginitch

This should be shown to troubled young people as a deterrent. I would be scared out of my mind if I knew I was

Sarah

Equally love this channel, but a lot of BBC Louis and Sir Trev uplifting.

As a proud Brit, great to see Sir Trevor and the great Louis Theroux feature so highly 🧐😆

In the quiet words of the Virgin Mary: "Stay out of prison, kids."

Erick Molina

Stephanie Harlowe did a great case on the second guy on death-row. Highly recommend her channel. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClVF8RcTN3UqAognWFGlJcg/videos

Very well thought out. The material flowed very nicely from one aspect to the next.

had to watch it twice to appreciate the message. so articulate and well presented. educational and entertaining. im really happy i found this channel.

Amazing

bless you Jim, i have been twiddling my thumbs waiting on the next one... and the day after my birthday here it is 🙌🏾

Louis Theroux is brilliant

"South Detroit" Cmon Jim, the real parts of detroit are the east and west side

Nice

Wow. Great stuff.

Agreed. Getting people to agree to a friendly sparring match and then doing everything he can to sucker punch them before they’re ready and even after they call for a stop. Looks like most of them just changed their mind and gave up without throwing a punch the second they realized what his ultimate goal was and then the douchbag counts it as a victory and gloats. I kept hoping eventually he’d mess with the wrong person and gets himself thrashed within an inch of his life.

Jo-Erlend Schinstad, Thank you for sharing your viewpoint on this matter. It seems like it’s something you’ve given a lot of thought to and I can see many ways where our views agree. I would say this particular case is kind of an exception. Generally crimes committed by underage children are punished less heavily than those committed by adults and the sentences are usually geared heavily towards rehabilitation. With this particular case we aren’t given a lot of contextual information about the circumstances surrounding the specific crime, other than the bullet-point version of events directly from the inmate himself, who would be very likely to downplay their role and severity of the crime at all possible, giving the watered down version that would be most palatable to the listener. While flawed in many respects, the American prison system is generally geared towards 1) Punishing a crime 2) rehabilitating the perpetrator and 3) protecting the general population from being exposed to violent or dangerous people. Issuing a 100 year prison sentence to a 13 year old clearly isn’t aimed towards rehabilitation. However, since this sentencing was so severe to the point where it sounds outlandish, I can only assume there was either some sort of corruption/malice associated with the due process, or the events of the crimes or psychoanalysis of the perpetrator led them to believe that rehabilitation wasn’t possible and this person poses too great of a risk to be placed back amongst the general population at any age. It sounds hard to believe but if you have/had a 13 year child and another 13 year old in their class was guilty of double homicide and was not the least bit remorseful to the point where it seems more than likely they would kill again if released, what would you honestly want to happen to this child? Locked up for life? A 10-15 year sentence focused heavily on rehabilitation? Released immediately on supervision so they could rejoin your child and their classmates? No right or wrong answer, I’m just honestly curious about what you feel the ideal way for the court to proceed would be.

Love the video. Will the deleted videos be making a return? Happy New year Jimmy

I'm Norwegian and I can't help having a Norwegian perspective on this. A thirteen year old has committed "murder" and you give a hundre year sentence? I refuse to call it murder when the perpetrator is a child, because otherwise I would have to excuse the child molesters as well, but I don't and I won't. I'm an atheist; I don't believe in forgiving the unforgivable. Children are children and this is uncivilized behaviour. If you don't have the selv-confidence that you will be able to change the mind of a child, then how can you call yourselves a superpower? Let's summarize; the grownups gives a child a gun and then the child acts immaturely with that gun and it's the child's fault? This is not sane. Children don't have fully functional brains. That's why we call them children. I'm so angry at the American people, not because I don't like them, but because I love them. But this has to end right now. A proud people simply doesn't behave this way.

Yeah apologies for the language but that boxing dude is a fucking asshole

Too Much Sascha

Couldn't watch the stretch of violence, covered with sheet of paper and muted audio, but nobody has to to appreciate another social/psychological masterpiece debunking human failure and I don't mean only the failure in these inmate's lives!. Thank you Jim and happy new year to you and crew!

Trauma Punks

thanks alot for the fresh content. Im always checking in to see if there are new videos availiable, im glad

Imagine expecting to be treated like a human being when you stole that chance from other people. Some of these guys are so deluded, it’s incredible.

Vimeo can be clunky but it must be your device or internet connection. Works fine for me.

Jim Night

FYI Vimeo works a little better if you download the app and watch it on the TV. Still freezes up like a motha but slightly better and makes it just about tolerable. This issue really needs to be fixed though.

As always, absolutely perfect 👌🏽! These men are put into cages like animals. I know their crimes are sometimes heinous, and we need to (as a public) punish them, but there are those who need and deserve another chance at living in society. Such as; the man who was given over 100 years at 15. For committing the double homicide at the age of 13. To me, and this is just my opinion, (and I know it normally is not a popular one) I think he should have spent years in a institution, that actually worked on helping him learn real world behaviors. Teaching him behaviors that could help him actual be a productive member of our society. He was never even given a chance. His family life was not a conducive place for anyone to learn how to be a productive member of society, let alone a person who could even be a somewhat healthy individual. I am sure almost all of these individuals locked up have had similar backgrounds and had never had the chance to grow up, or be around a healthy environment. Combine that with the perfect storm of having the chemical make-up in their brains, making them the perfect individuals to explode into become full blown criminals. Some even becoming horrifying people, who do the unthinkable to other humans and even can not control themselves once they are locked away from the general population of society. They still commit crimes and atrocious acts against their peers in prison and the prison guards. Making them look even more evil. Making them seem even less redeemable. Hammering the point down more, and more, that no one can turn their lives around, not even a young person, so why even try, or why even think you could? It’s such a sad state of affairs, the whole justice system, the whole prison system, the way the public looks at offenders. Even the way offenders (mostly in the US) see themselves as never being redeemable, because the rest of their world/government has written them off as nobodies who can’t be redeemed, ever!

Crafty Criminalist

Great video. I'm so addicted to this raw material that I just don't get anywhere else. I wish I knew where to find more content like this. Thanks JCS!! Happy new year!!

49:35 Black Post Malone ''gunning'' officers xD

You've got to stop using Vimeo.

I watched it with no issues on my iPhone. No errors, no buffering, no problems whatsoever.

Elizabeth Schneider

Testosterone!

Elizabeth Schneider

I don’t think there was anything exclusively “American” about anything in this video. Neither the environment inside the prison nor the justice system that put them in prison, or even the situations that necessitated incarceration are uniquely “American”.

Elizabeth Schneider

It comes down to what one thinks the purpose of the justice system is. For some, justice should focus a great great deal on the retribution aspect. If you've done something bad, you must first and foremost be punished. It also sends out the message to relatives of the victim that the person who caused them their anguish is now on the receiving end of anguish as well. Aside from the cases where people are senteced to life in prison, that mentality leads, in the long run, to people not reforming and causing more misery once they're out. If you know a prisoner will leave the prison at some point, you can't just focus on punishment. If not for the sake of the prisoner, it is for the sake of society. This of course doesn't even give thought to whether or not it's acceptable to punish people this way, even if they are the monsters they've demonstrated to be. In essence, they're treated as less than human, for they're stripped of several of their basic human rights. What lead these people to act like monsters is not taken into account at all. Whether it should be taken into account depends on who you ask. I find myself to be on the rehabilitation side of justice as well, but I find myself struggling with that viewpoint often enough and feel that the feleing of vengeance is at times hard to block out.

corvdb1992 .

This was very moving, and sensitive and healing to air it during the holidays for fans who are burdened with murderers in their family. That taboo is ever-present and weighs heavily in bewildered kin.

That part did drag on a bit, I agree. Apart from that, I thought it was interesting stuff.

corvdb1992 .

Thanks so much jim loved the video!

Jfascinating stuff🤔👍🏼😉

Some of your less interesting content but thx anyways, looking forward to the next

Fascinating but hard to watch.

Lucy Cleary

It’s not meant to help these people

Alex Woods

You can get email notification :)

That was great!

This is a psychological analysis of prisoners not a vid trying to get you to sympathize with prisoners...

Well, then don't.

So you're totally okay with a conservative swing then right? Call out both facets of garbage.

Great to be reminded of everything we have, when to shower, water temperature choice, the clothes we wear, many things to be thankful for not just a recent vacation or new years party..

Hahaha you want me to feel bad because murderers and child rapists have it tough in prison? lol go hug a tree hippy

YAAY I check every day and today was the good day

Wow. This video is one of my favorites of yours, Jim. I’ve watched it twice today and I plan on watching it many more times over. As someone who works with previously incarcerated individuals in a residential facility, it gave me a better understanding of what they go through. Many of my clients come from maximum security settings and down play it entirely. It is very interesting to me that while incarcerated in general population they play these roles, but working with them after their release in a residential setting with others from similar backgrounds, they continue to do so. This video gave me a new perspective and I will revisit this video as I continue my education and experience in my field of study and occupation. Thanks as always Jim.

Jennifer Larson

Thanks for the content JCS!

You and me both. Everytime I see videos/documentaries of this nature it terrifies me.

That's not a "liberal" position it's a human rights position...for multiple reasons among which being many of us aren't super amped on the idea of handing all this unchecked discretion and power over the wellbeing of an individual in the hands of the government (not to mention because it's verifiable fact that a certain (terrifyingly high) number of convictions are false). I know plenty of conservatives that would resent your implication that only liberals care about human rights.

I don't care if child rapists and murderers have it tough in prison

Hey jim, keep your liberal bs away from your vids

I actually ended up liking this video a lot, maybe moreso than the interrogation videos posted. Seeing the actual human side of someone inherently dehumanized and vilified made me think a lot about what they did to end up where they did. Contrasted with actually wanting to dislike the people in the interrogation videos, it was so different. What a great holiday gift, thank you guys!!

CO’s usually smuggle them in, although it is possible for someone to hoop one before going in

This shit makes my tits hard

icule

Very nice jcs. Great thought provoking content.

dayday

Great video thank you

I read the last part in the narrator's voice.

I'd really like to get TMC 1-8 back for a new years present :D

Wonderful video

I’d be super interested to see how similar female prisons are to men’s

was i the only one super scared for that reporter at the end?

I think you should try to watch and understand the tones and messages that this new video portrays, maybe it doesn’t effect you. However these kinds of videos are the sole base for our understanding of the human mind, and show just what it means to be human.

Thought the same. Extremely well put together.

You obviously dont know how Vimeo works. Check your internet. I had no problems. Smooth streaming the whole way through.

This was very good. Thanks Jim

I know I’m in the minority giving this opinion, but I find these prison examinations sooo boring. I don’t want to watch these dudes. I wish your channel would keep focusing on interrogations. That opinion being expressed, I also appreciate the work you’ve put into this video for your viewers. I’m just not interested in this particular content. Ugh & waited a month for it, too. It’s like when you feel like you’re going to sneeze, and the sneeze goes away.

Test

I can’t begin to fathom how these people who have life, especially the ones in solitary, retain any sort of sanity, it blows my mind... Great video...Well worth the wait, thanks JCS 👏🏻👏🏻❤️

This is definitely one of the best videos on this channel yet. I’m so excited to see what you guys do next.

The option for the courts to offer this legal ultimatum was directly linked to the draft still being in effect. I think.

Louis has two prison-themed documentaries, the Miami Mega Jail, and the San Quentin Prison. Out of alllll of his amazing documentaries, these are my absolute favourite (quite possibly of any documentary for that matter). I think I've seen them 40 + times. The other documentary of his I highly recommend is when he visits the brothel in Nevada.

Test

Thanks for this one - been patiently waiting. Amazing content above all else I've seen. Cheers and Happy New Year.

Thanks for this one - been patiently waiting. Amazing content above all else I've seen. Cheers and Happy New Year.

Jimbo done did it again! So good. I propose a community vote on this being extended to a 3 part series. I also propose a vote on JCS fans being called "floaties" referring to the inflatable plastic armbands worn by small children who can't swim as well as what happens to a corpse disposed of in a body of water making it bloated and buoyant, peacefully floating with current.

I HAD A JIMGASM

Holy fuck that was an amazing episode.

"We are all capable of becoming something monstrous." -Cyraus Foldger. The thought of spending your life inside of one of those cells is depressing. Unable to do anything at all. I feel before long death would start to look much more appealing. Unfortunately in the heat of the moment this is not something anyone thinks about.

As ALWAYS amazing work Jim.

Molly Chamberlain

Now what? I thought solitary was worse, you chatterd my reality jim . explain any one .

this pit a whole different perspective on inmates- in jail and prison. not seeing the moon for 20yrs. not being able to touch someone or like 2min to yourself to poop. our prison system is fundamentally broken. a lot of those guys said theyve been in before. it's not rehab, its systematic destruction of a psyche. i think a good first step is do what they did back in the 60s - my dad was facing jail time. he was given the option to enlist and go to Vietnam or go to prison. he picked to enlist and picked the Marine Corps to show how much of a "badass" he was. I think that option for offenders under 25 facing 5yrs or less is ideal. sign a 4yr contract, go to basic, deploy, make something of your life

Thanks for the new video!!! Happy new year :)

Great :) but could you go back to uploading subscriber videos to YouTube please? I can’t stream Vimeo in the background :(

Luke

Thank you for puting more and more subtitles on your videos! We watch you from Belgium! Happy new year!

Great video as usual Jim, this is really well made!

Thanks Jim. You have certainly enriched my 2019. 🥳 Happy New Year x

We waited a month for this? Come on 'Jim'

If I wanted to watch prison fights id watch prison fights..

Oustanding, as always.

Bye

I've got high speed internet and is freezes up every 6 seconds. I even waited hours to let the video buffer which it doesn't even do. This is bs canceling membership cya

Vimeo is fine, never had any issues.. But i do have decent internet and my PC isn't a toaster :)

One of the things that weirded me out about this is that these prisoners had cameras and mobile phones...

Xirix

Louis Theroux is one of my favourite journalists, you should watch his doc on ‘a place for paedophiles’ JCS insight on some of those guys would be amazing.

Link is fine. User error.

Why are men so angry? So violent?.... Thank you Jim for your amazing videos. Happy new year!

These links never work for me. At this point Idk why I'm paying for the content when it's I can't view it on my cell because of the bad vimeo link

Last part got me a little

I've let this Vimeo nightmare buffer for 6 hours let's see if it's ready to watch.

amazing

JCS attributes the candor of inmates in for life, in solitary, or on death row to the lack of eyes on them. In the same Louis Theroux documentary, there is a suggestion that removing the chance of getting out, there's no point in posturing, no point in fighting or creating a hierarchy, that acceptance of their fate engenders more peaceful behavior from most, with some exceptions being those who are more hardwired to be violent. The complexity of psychology should lend itself to the almost assured reality that both theories for the seen changes are factors. Last point I think is very important and covered by one inmate declaring he was trained to kill due to his mother's violent disciplining: the largest predictive factor for violence in adults is domestic violence in home from an early age. Though, criminality is often viewed as a socioeconomic condition, poverty itself is not a strong predictive factor for violent behavior as an adult. Upon brief reflection, asserting that violence is a symptom of poverty is a gross denial of agency, that because someone is poor they have no ability to form a moral foundation. Even financial desperation will rarely lead to violence from someone who is otherwise well-meaning.

Press "Play" then click on the symbol in the top right, either save to favourites or watch later.

They are posted here because they are too graphic for youtube. It would be deleted and his channel could also be deleted due to the violence shown in the video

Yes yes yes yessss, THANK YOU JIM & CREW ♡♡♡

Jim, thank you this was insightful! I am surprised that you didn’t include women in prison though, or the psychology behind why women are less likely to be this violent. Maybe you could do a video on this sometime. Again, thanks for your hard work! The human mind is a complex labyrinth.

I really like the prison based episodes.

Custodial sentences without any sort of rehabilitation is twisted. I can't get my head around why locking someone in a cage is of any benefit. The boys in Mt Eden would be chuffed that you used their videos.

These Vimeo links gotta stop Jim

Louis Theroux + Jim Can't Swim! Couldn't have asked for a better Christmas present.. thanks guys,. your content just continues to get better and better in quality :)

Happy holidays and happy new yr to JCS and everyone

I am sharing your work with instructors in graduate Psych programs from time to time. Some of your videos like this one are more instructive than some of the research and papers are. Specifically this one demonstrates that behavior changes can result from empathy and compassion. Even for lifers and death row inmates, compassion and can impact the level of violence and alleviate some of the depression and the positive benefit to inmates who will be eventually be released is clear. Thank you for your work.

Look forward to this Jim. My only suggestion is can you please make it possible to watch via YouTube in future? I prefer to watch it on the telly. Understand if you can’t however. Happy New Year.

Love your content! I used to be able to save the video for later and then watch it from my TV on Vimeo under saved videos. This no longer seems possible. Has anything changed? Was very convenient..

Whew, tough watch. I see many comments embracing this very “American” precept that has been very much perpetuated by the legal and prison systems, that if you are in prison, you deserve to be there. You should be offered no quarter, or indulged in any flights of compassion or empathy. It’s an easier opinion to adopt, because the alternative means an introspective and certainly an outer examination and analysis of the prison system, concepts of rehabilitation, and consequently the legal system in America as a whole. Many, many of the individuals you see in jail go in on charges stemming from untreated substance abuse issues, mental illness, or even depressed economical and educational factors. They are then exposed to an institutional culture that doesn’t simply endorse or turn a blind eye to violence, violence is mandated. Being “caught up” isn’t lowest common denominator street derived colloquial speak, it’s born of an adversarial system DESIGNED on keeping you tethered to it, extracting as much monetary value as possible, and disproportionately focused on communities of the “less fortunate.” Meaning, you may go in on a relatively mild, non-violent offender charge, and be forced into committing a beating or stabbing of another inmate lest you suffer repercussions to your own physical well-being. Now, you’ve caught a felony charge while inside the system, and your initial sentence will pale in comparison. There are certain individuals that deserve to be remanded into state custodial care for life, sure. However, there are others that would have just as soon seized an opportunity to create a “square” living for themselves. One of the only reasons Louis was allowed unfettered access to the Miami jail, is because it’s still a publicly funded institution. Private prisons rarely allow media, let alone tours and interviews. The idea being, if you witnessed a constant update on the state of jails and prisons privately run, earning massive amounts of money, you (the voter) might begin to think that changing the laws, reducing stays, and focusing on actual therapy would be better options for everyone (spoiler: they are.) My point is, a grounded view of these prisoners is a much healthier perspective to view them from. But, the truth of the situation is even darker, more bleak, and uglier in its reality.

Imagine not being able to cry.

I get so much enjoyment out of your videos. Thank you so much.

Happy new year <3

Great video Jim. Thank you for showing a variety of different videos on the psychology of crime and people who commit crimes. Not sure why everyone is whining and crying on this feed. Its the holiday season so maybe he doesn't have the time to go in-depth on something else. Even his lless liked videos are 10xs better than any of the crap on youtube or otherwise.

lol

I WAS FIENDIN FOR THE NEXT HIT! YA HAD ME COMING DOWN WITH THE SHAKES JIMMY BOY

I love you but I think I am going to skip this one. That being said I also want to express how much your hard work, research, and insight is appreciated. Please don't ever stop!!!

Oops.. posted from my pocket. Sorry. I wish all my friends were subscribed so that i could share this with them. For $1.00 a month.. why wouldnt you subscribe.

Jim, I may be mistaken but one of the individuals involved in the fight where one inmates crack is exposed yellow vs blue short/pants, didnt the loser of that fight die? Sweet fight montage lol as well as very compelling and thoughtful stuff man, keep it up. ---- Side comment: I wasn't on the 6th level but I did get jailed at Miami Dade in 11' after getting arrested for a 3rd degree felony for drug possession. was trying to leave the country with my family to the Caymen's shortly removed from graduating college. I had been arrested several months prior and it caught up with me at the airport. Miami Dade is not a fun place. the paint or line if you willl are indeed real although the fighting didnt happen when I was there. had to get bail posted in miami and my city then walk from the jail to the airport. made it to the destination. entered counseling and then a diversion program. stayed clean, completed program then got out and battled addiction on and off up until the past year 1/2 or so. looking forward to heading in to 2020 sober, career on track and no recidivism.

Always fascinating and insightful. Cant help but have compassion and empathy for someone who i know made choices or pop

I’m so looking forward to this tonight. Thank you 🙏 Happy New year to you and yours from me and mine 💚💛🧡👏🙏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

This is excellent. Thanks Jim.

Crying because of buddy (Scott I think) at 44:00 talking about how much he loves his family and how bad he feels that he is hurt. :(

I definitely wasn’t cut out for jail. - Thanks for the insight JCS! - Faith

Faithfullmess

Happy new year Jim much love for your incredible vids

WHEN'S THE NEXT UPLOAD!

shut the fuck up it was the holiday season

Pierre Pressure

Eww

why so long between uploads?

“You would go crazy, huh?”

I understand that many of these men are locked away because of the crimes they’ve committed but this video is still incredibly heart wrenching

This was a mix of the code and death row phenom anyone who didn’t understand the meaning of this video should rewatch it

Have ya watched the code ha ?

Those poor men :-(

The video would get removed if he posted on Youtube

Landon Thomas

bleeeehhhh

Thanks, this was a brilliant video. Anyone thinking of doing anything stupid should watch it. These criminals complain yet know what would happen if they killed someone.

Guy at 15:30 looks like True Crime Loser's methhead cousin

does anyone in prison know how to fight? for violent criminals they fight an awful lot like teen girls

TizMcFitz

Loved this video! I loved 'The Code' as well but I cant find that video anymore. I wish you wouldn't take down content as I find a lot of rewatch value in everything you produce :)

Whereas I really appreciate your work and incredible insight, JCS, this isn’t a favourite. I’ll go as far as to say that I didn’t enjoy this at all. You’ve already produced a previous video of in prison violence and I felt that this was more of the same – and too much of it at that. Airing this type of violence makes me sick to my stomach and I really don’t see the need for it or how it ties in to the psychology of what you present. Please, less of this. Can you not rather return to more interrogation pieces?

Siobhan Blue

Happy New Years everyone!!!!! 🥳🎊🥳🎊

He did already, Judi...it's on YouTube!

Really liked how this video was structured

maybe 2 months, we'll see.

great, but i wish you didnt use Vimeo...

Bengt Valp

The prison system isn’t set up to help these people

loving the narration, good job, this was my first patreon and i am happy so far

absolutely outstanding. this video was great and i loved how you pulled it back to rodney at the end. very well done. personally,

I just want to watch it on my television! On YouTube I can do that with Vimeo I cannot.

These videos and the new kinds of nature documentaries that are coming out (Our Planet, Seven Worlds One Planet etc.) are probably some of the most legitimate and utterly fascinating content that I've seen. You really just lose yourself in the video and are engrossed by the information that is being presented. edit: spelling

Vimeo sucks. Never loads properly so I have to watch it 5 mins at a time and refresh.

Greg Gory

But some crimes are so evil its hard to find a defence for some

The narrator is another YouTuber named Kizzume

PenudBudr

brilliant watch as usual 👏👏👏👏

One guy was in there for 35 years for armed robbery at 19 and he still isn't out. What do you want from people like that, exactly? Why is it so hard to look at someone who committed a crime on the very cusp of adulthood as a human being? I get your point, jackass, but not every prisoner is a murderer. Some of them are just people who made a bad decision and have already paid for it, physically and mentally.

PenudBudr

Turned it off 20 minutes in. Tired of the "Poor misunderstood inmate," narrative. That said, I hope you have a great New Year and look forward to what 2020 brings.

Drew B

Great stuff as always. Not just some of the best content on the Youtube or Patreon, but some of the best content bar none.

Rivetting! the good, no.... the great stuff! well worth the wait

Wow. That was great. That’s all I can say. WOW.

you’ve outdone yourself Mr.Jim. Bravo.

google it.. jk, its near or in the Arctic circle, North Atlantic between Canada and UK

Stuck inside because of a winter storm, I was so happy to see this pop up. Had to skip past the fights, but the quality of your videos never disappoints. Thank you and Happy New Year from Canada!

Agreed. I was waiting for him to be attacked...thank goodness he wasn't

excellent video jcs team. Thank you! Happy new year to you x

27:33 Where is Greenland?

One of my favourite things about JCS's videos is the nuance it brings to the issue of incarceration. Makes you realise that even these criminals are people too. Yes some have done awful things and society deserves retribution, but they are people like us. A fascinating issue that too many people simply see as black and white.

I do. Very much so. At least when they are on YouTube I can watch them on my television!!! All I can do with Vimeo is watch it on my phone!! It’s far to teeny! 😩

I just want to watch it on my SmartTV!!! 😩😩😩

Thank you happy New Years y’all ☺️

It didn't end as I feared it would. I know that nothing happened to Louis, but I was scared to look at the screen. Louis Theroux has so much compassion and empathy that a fly wouldn't be afraid of bugging him. Happy New Year!

kiu (aka kirstine)

Every time one of these episodes fades to black I go: "that's not the end is it?......fuuuuuuuuck" Keep em coming Jimmy this shit is riveting.

FUCK YES THANK YOU!

Does anyone else hate Vimeo with a passion?

Amazing how much different they are when they aren't around other prisoners.

CornPop

I'm opposed to the death penalty and I believe that everyone deserves a chance at redemption. We all make mistakes, and there isn't one of us who hasn't done something that we regret. Many people who end up trapped feel like they don't have another way out. They don't know how to escape their cycle, and they do what they think they need to do to survive and they would be better off being met with love and compassion instead of the hellish system we have. We need a better system in this country where we can actually rehabilitate instead of just creating more and more violence.

Interesting take on some very sad lives

Everytime I think "I wonder when the next video is", you post the next day :) Love your stuff!

Can't believe i saw Charlie Zelenoff in a JCS video. What a douche!

TJ

Wow. Never watched a video that made me feel so conflicted inside.. thanks again JCS team! Those convicted of heinous crimes usually deserve the worst punishments available but sometimes I can’t help but empathize with the ones who really try to improve though it won’t do much for their situation. With the whole inmate violence/respect culture in the system is so ingrained that it’s probably impossible to change how we punish and/or rehabilitate inmates on a large scale. Long term solitary confinement can really mess up a person.

Happy new year! Your channel was one of the best finds this year! Please do a video on the psychology of Dalia Dippolito. lol

That was emotionally exhausting; once again, well done, Jim! Happy New Year!

I just finished this video and it’s terribly heart breaking. I pray one day we can figure out a better way.

Excellent work, Jim. Probably my favorite video of yours yet.

This is probably your best work. I do have a huge soft spot for Louis and psychology though so I'm a little biased!

Robert Leeson

Legit this is my favorite Christmas gift thus far. Jim you are the BEST!!

i don't care what happens in prison to killers, rapists and pedos. they deserve not seeing the sun and more pain. but any other kind of criminal act then i do feel bad for them in this shitty system. "Sending us out there angry" yeah....not helping

If I have learned one thing it is to not murder people.

Yaaaay a new post!!

Stopping by before playing video to say Happy new year to y’all :3

great and now i watched this post instantly and ill have nothing to live for for the next month till the next video

WOOOAH! I get the wait now! This video is fucking incredible!

Doktor650

Just me that cannot see this?

Happy new year JCS team, you guys fucking rocked it out of the park on this one.

Happy New Year JCS! Thanks for the incredible videos x

Niall Kennedy

Yesss thanks Jim been waiting on another great vid

Happy new year Jim and the narrator, and all of you!

As a vocal opponent of the death penalty, hearing people talk about awaiting their execution is heartbreaking. It's the worst of us in every way.

13:40 https://murderpedia.org/male.G/g1/gribble-timothy.htm I have to say that I do not feel sorry for these guys. Speaking from experience you have to earn your spot in solitary or the conditions felt on death row.

I love the way you think and analyze Jim!!! Life is better when Jim can't swim!
