And a member of a protected and insulated class

Derek

Wow, so obviously a murder....if it had been suicide, why naked? Seems to me someone very angry was aiming for maximum humiliation as well as death.

Jarah Karen

That second story.....my god. It's insane what you can get away with when you're rich.

Rational Ryan

The last case is just such an obvious murder. Why go with the whole gagging and tying hands behind yourself (lol what) if you want to end your life? Makes no sense whatsoever. Oh and that CPR during police call? Total BS. He was clearly trying to make sure he is heard "trying to help". And it is said that she was found gagged. Did he not remove the scarf during CPR? Or did he put it back afterwards? Nothing in this case makes sense.

As a suicide survivor, I can say I don't think anyone would have the energy for such an elaborate scheme to kill themself. She was murdered 100% why the fuck would you go through such lengths when she could've easily thrown herself off the balcony instead of tying herself up. Super sketch.

Guilty beyond a reasonable doubt? I don't think it's reasonable to suggest she stripped naked, bound her ankles and wrists, then hanged herself. I think he's guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

I would be surprised if the brothers are the culprits here. If they we're, why would they create this mess? Rebecca however sounds troubled to me. Hard childhood: refugee, lived in Myanmar, Nepal, Germany and came to the US in her early twenties (so she's been an outsider all her life), victim of violence and rape, partly raised without father. Arrested for shoplifting worth $1000 aged 30 (probably a habit - you don't start experimenting with stealing at that age). Obsessed with how she looks. Devout Christian but doesn't go to church. Starts dating the rich guy almost twice her age while married. His child dies under her care and days later she dies. Family sues rich guy for money. It's a story of greed.

Christ, that dispatch woman was appalling haha.

Autism at work during the first case. Probably thinks he's so smart, fucking bastard.

X s de. D. love I just

Can we all agree that Rebecca did NOT commit suicide given the writing and excessive gags and ties? SOMEONE killed her.

Very curious why the lead investigator interrupted at 29:12, they had the guy in a tough spot and could’ve pushed harder

Vandy-B

"SIR WE NEED YOUR ADDRESS WE CAN'T HELP YOU" *decides to do CPR for 10 minutes talking about anything else*

I don't understand how people can live like that.. Evidently they can't

What is the significance of that?

He didn't say he performed CPR *well* /s

He was a BOAT CAPTAIN??? What the hell.

When police arrived they found her naked, gagged, ankles tied and hands tied behind her back. Why would she do all of that to suicide ?

nizoubizou

So he called 911, cut her down, performed CPR and yet when the police got there she had a gag in her mouth?

Joanna Lind

"you're depressed, your wife just left to go on a vacation with another man...." Lmao that made me lose it

There's always someone like yourself that fails to understand it. I suppose if you were the operator you'd waste vital time pandering to their emotions instead of actually getting the vital information that could save their life

Why are all these 911 operators so completely rude and useless lol. "I can't help you until I know the address." What if we don't know where we are?? Sorry to inconvenience you with this death??

I'm from Champaign, Illinois. The first case was huge here. There is a lot of sexual abuse in UofI.

DippiSauce

How much do you think Mr. Shacknai paid his brother to kill his girlfriend?

That’s what I’m saying. That’s what stood out in my mind the whole time. And besides that the words written on the door/wall. You can’t save him,, can you save her? (Or something like that)

I can't believe anyone would find that to be a suicide. Why bind your own feet? Even if you were tying your own hands to stop yourself trying to free yourself, and gagging your own mouth to stop yourself breathing - why would you tie your own feet? There is no logical reason to do that unless you're an attacker trying to immobilise someone.

it was not suicide.

Because they arent wrong...She killer herself. There was no sign of a struggle, none of Adams DNA newhere, no defensive wounds nothing....and it made perfect sense that the Voicemail about the boy dying sent her over the edge...

Im surprised JCS is so wrong about the Rebecca Z case....It was definitely a suicide. JCS has a serious case of confirmation bias here...

Oh yes, women oftentimes will scribble on the walls, bound their hands and feet in complicated knots, cover and stuff their mouths and completely undress right before committing suicide. Yep total suicide.... no questions here

Clodagh

So did the Police think that she tied her hands behind her back in a tight knot before or after she hung herself?

Wojciech Tolsdorf

they had a sub/dom bdsm relationship. she was used to hearing about his violence kinks and he would escalated slowly to serial killer fantasy talk. he would kinda infer things about what he'd done and test out her reaction and then open up more (he also told his wife he had a serial killer thing but she freaked out so he stopped ). He was also so used to the dynamic where she submits w/o boundaries that he just didnt see her as a threat & let his guard down around her

and you're an expert in this...how?

Seems more southern to me

I don’t get why he would tell his girlfriend everything? Seems like such a strange and dumb thing to do. Like are you really that cocky you think she will be okay with it ?

Nichole Hutchison

Yeah I find that really weird

Nichole Hutchison

2nd guy has mad trump voice

Went to high school a block from where Yingying was picked up. Chilling stuff seeing that surveillance video.

I remember Ann Rule doing a story of the second investigation in one of her books. I miss her. Smh always wondered about the aftermath

I’m sorry but if that tragedy in the last one is a suicide, then so is the Epstein case.

what a spineless cuckold, hope he's having a rough time in jail lol.

If they really thought that he killed their family member they wouldn't settle for 600k. They just saw a paycheck and knew they could drag him through court to get it.

Well yes youtube sucks but viewing patreon content on mobile is ass. but yes jcs is where its at

Youtube you sucks these videos are where its at

highly sus to me that he would yell “fucking kidding me”

Harley

Adam is an idiot, plain and simple lol. I won't even go into all of the detail as to why, but that 911 call was ridiculous to say the least. I will give him an A for effort but it was obscene and ridiculous. He tries to make it seem like he has an overwhelming urge and instinct to cut her down and try to save her life, yet only does so part way through the 911 call. If that drive behind that idea was sincere he would have called 911 as he was giving her CPR. He just doesn't sound genuine during the whole episode either, it sounds like an amateur highschool dramatist, it's very off. There's no genuine sense of urgency at all in his somewhat raised voice. He's just raising his voice and obviously attempting to sound panicked and worried.

Feeling that Robert Durst energy with this one. Makes me think he'd do it again at this point though I'll be fair and say that having a brother's son die is pretty extreme so hopefully he would never go to that length again. The sexual assault allegations are pretty crazy though, did they not look for DNA on the body?

I watched a dateline or something similar about the second case...how could anyone in their right mind rule that a suicide? What woman is going to hang herself outside nude? And don’t get me started on the feet and hands bound and her being gagged. They were rich and got away with murder.

what a POS shacknei dude.....you can tell he's full of himself

WOW I guess money pays murder. They didn't even interrogate him properly.

If this guy wasn't rich he would be sitting in prison for the rest of his life.

the anguish in the voice of ying ying's mother broke my heart. what a disgusting man her killer was

I am SO glad I've never had the occasion to participate in a discussion of this type!

So much information is missing on the last case but it's obvious adam is lying during the 911 call and his interrogation. imagine being him and seeing a tied-bound-gagged-naked-hanging woman from the balcony across the garden and the first thing that pops into his mind as he puts into words in his 911 call is : "SHE HUNG HERSELF" naa man that is a big lie. and the fact that he doesn't even mention these details (the bounding & gagging) in the 911 call speaks volumes. leaving them out? i don't think so. I think many people are involved including his richie rich brother and it's clear the police has been paid off and that they got away with a revenge killing for a price (600K)

also the fact that he kept focusing on how she spoke broken english, it was obvious he wanted to just take advantage of someone who was unfamiliar with her surroundings and unable to communicate/protect herself not unlike how pedophiles approach children. he's a piece of shit

ok

lol he was saying he had a gf and his wife had a bf, not that his girlfriend was seeing other dudes

ok

yeah crazy how they just left it there. I understand these investigations take time and money so its not as easy as focusing on everything that is possible, but this guy was a self admitted SERIAL KILLER. If found, it could solve 13+ missing persons/murders

ok

You're a fool if you ever agree to a polygraph test.

you can have all the knowledge of the universe and still be a dumbass

you can find the recording here: https://www.ilcd.uscourts.gov/exhibits (it's the second "Govt29" in the first column, but the recording isn't very clear all the way through)

[1st case] You should've included wiretap recording, it' pretty interesting how he brags about killing this poor girl.

nitemar

Stark naked and gagged too. And the Sheriff's department ruled her death a suicide. I'm betting there's money and influence at work there.

If you're on death row, you'll still spend years in prison, only it'll be much worse because you won't know when you're about to die, which amounts to years of mental torture. There's literally a JCS video about this.

as someone who has spent time locked up on many occasions under various circumstances, I can't believe how many people (maybe even most) consider the death penalty anything other than mercy. being locked up is so terrible that in exchange for life in prison I would gladly take death 10 out of 10 times i don't understand how it is considered a worse punishment than the constant agony being in prison for life instills in a person

PRETENTIEUX

That POS that murdered Yingying is one of those people that uses education as an excuse not to grow up. It's obvious he stayed in school as long as possible not because he had a passion for physics, but because he had a passion for remaining a child as long as possible. Living off a girlfriend and student loans, playing video games all day every day, applying for jobs just enough to keep your girlfriend appeased while botching your applications so you don't have a good chance of getting hired. He's another Steven McDaniel, living in a fantasy world.

Devon Tracey

2nd dude totally killed that woman. most people who commit suicide don’t do it naked.

the question tho, where did he get the adress from while giving cpr? And why didnt he mention anything about the gag and the tied hands? If i came across something like this, i wouldnt assume a suicide, but the opposite. I see only 2 realistic options. Either a third person killed her, or she did commit suicide and staged it in a way so they would automatically blame him. Where is God when u need a reliable witness? Oh wait, he doenst exist, i forgot...

So, when police show up at your home after calling 911, accidentally or as a prank, that only applies when it’s done falsely, and never from a legit 911 call?

She tied herself up, assaulted herself, and then wrote a third-person murder confession on the wall.

He said he dismembered her body and disposed of it in 3 trash bags, and put them in a dumpster. The bags were then taken to a landfill, compacted, and dumped. Because of the way the body was disposed, and the amount of time that had passed, police don't believe the body can be recovered.

If his brother wasn't rich, if he wasn't backed by millions of dollars, he'd be rotting in prison where he belongs. Its absolutely disgusting that he got away with killing Rebecca.

Adam Shacknai killed Rebecca. Point, blank, period!

Seeing that man shake was intense.

All the education in the world, all too dumb to ask for a lawyer.

I agree, all these people seem to understand that it wasn't a suicide but they don't even consider that someone else did it.

Why would you strip, bound, and gag someone if you're trying to stage a suicide? Am I the only one who's considered that someone else is at fault for her death. It's not a suicide, clearly, but Adam is not responsible.

it's the "maintains innocence" which does mean he never pleaded guilty

How would you do that while hanging? Or how would you do that, then place yourself into a noose?

The FBI and police officer weren't a team, they were awkward, too much distance, and gave him too much time to think. The 2nd case she was killed by someone else, he found her, and that was why it was inconclusive on the polygraph... I don't know I don't think he did it.

When you are that rich, 10 shots to the head is also considered suicide.

"bound, gagged and hanging" .... ah the classic, most common of suicides

You wouldn’t think a crime is done if her hands and legs were tied up? I’m sorry but that makes absolutely no sense. If you walked in to see her hanging there without knowing what happened how do you think she tied her own hands behind her back like that and then proceeded to kill herself? Why would she tie herself up like that and why would she be naked to kill herself? Those are big red flags. I don’t think many people would react the way you’re saying. And like Big Ass Blonde stated, you wouldn’t cover the body and further taint evidence

"I have a girlfriend, she has a boyfriend as well" - my man, then you don't have a girlfriend.

Wojciech Tolsdorf

Well they're not on patreon and theyre not on YouTube so I guess they're gone

Seems like a big mistake on the part of the campus detective was trying to use the dossier technique constantly with technology. "We can see you, we can track her phone, we have cameras all over the place". It was clear the guy had a better grasp of tech than he did and it made him much more confident when the detective said "we tracked her phone", when he knows that's not true because they would have arrested him already if that was the case.

Anyone know where parts 1-7 are?

That last case was fucking disgusting... why would she bound herself like that?

Rebecca Zahaue

In the first case Christensen. How is he remain innocent after he told it was his 13 murders. It doesn't make sence

Sit down. Put your arms under your legs, tie a knot around your hands, stand up, you now have your hands tied behind your back. So it's not virtually impossible. Just saying.

Hi, Big Ass Blonde. I wouldn't think it was a crime, and he said himself he was sure it suicide, not a murder. Also there are parts from my description that I don't consider universal (pointed that out) so I wouldn't expect them from Adam as well. But at least cover the body. Whether he killed her or not leaving her that way was brutal. As for the suspicious thing. That is written with the assumption that he killed her (my opinion). Like, he did it in such a weird way and didn't even try to make it look more credible

So you would move the body and alter the potential crime scene? And taint the evidence? Yeah, that wouldn't look suspicious at all.

Adam must have had strong negative feelings against Rebecca. Like, I think about my actions if I saw someone hang themselves: 1. I would first cut the rope (!), then call 911. I can't imagine doing anything but getting them down. 2. After realising the person is dead, I would at the very least cover her body since she was naked. Personally I'd also untie hands and legs, take out the fucking gag and try to get her in or on some sort of a bed. Just to leave her like that, on the ground, naked and all - you have to be absolutely cold or have huge condemn for the person. And also: how did he do cpr with her hands tied behind her back? Wouldn't it be extremely uncomfortable and unreasonable to proceed in this way? The last thing. Why he left her like this is unfathomable. Ok he hated her but couldn't he see how suspicious it would look for the police?

watch the polygraph of Adam.... aren't polygraphers supposed to wait for a minute or two after the response to gauge the physiological changes as the subject thinks about his answer? It looked like the polygrapher asked the questions right after the other - I didn't notice any edits where the interrogator took a break between questions.

I don't believe max died riding his scooter on carpet at a speed in which he could go over a banister above his centre of gravity. However if she threw herself out of the balcony herself the bed she was tied to would have moved and investigators said it didn't.. How could someone fling themselves off a balcony and not create enough force to move the object they were tied to..

The victims family were clearly motivated by money. If it was my sister or daughter there's no way I would have stopped pursuing justice for 600k or any amount of money.

Its kind of strange that Rebecca and Adam were both staying at the mansion while the poor kid Max was in critical condition in the hospital.. why were they both there, not at the hospital? different dynamics for different families I guess.. but that seems off in my opinion. In my twisted mind, maybe Jonah had something to do with this. Regardless, I can't believe this case wasnt pursued further, maybe the way the trial carried out fucked it all. Adam has to be complacent.

yo wtf ??!!! how in the fuck did that guy not get charged for kill his brothers girlfriend ?? Its pretty obvious , no on ties them self before hanging . That is so suspicious , I think that guys family knows some people or paid some people but either way that fucked . Justice is supposed to blind but this is obviously not the case , and this is the type shit that makes me distrust the legal system and our government .

Glad I was.

K Dash

This shit is so good yo

So glad I wasn't born in America

They couldn't find YingYing's body, nor the other victims he boasted about??

I think it was more likely that they wouldn't be able to get anything else. Most lawsuits settle for way less because the defendant doesn't have the amount they are asking for (a tactic to get all they have in the end) and since he was found innocent in the first case, he couldn't be tried again for it, so he was never going to jail. It sucks but likely that's the best they were going to get.

what an incompetent 911 operator

On Christmas Eve my two year old daughter fell off her bed with me right there and broke her collar bone. Before we found out that was the issue, the ER doctor said it was bleeding of the brain and brain damage. My husband never blamed me. Accidents happen in seconds. This woman was definitely murdered.

Her life was only worth 600k to the family lol. Thats sad.

yeah, if most of them lawyered up they would be going free or at least much less of a charge. but their pride gets in the way thankfully

yo that's actually crazy. makes you think that someone else was there assisting him. Saw someone further down in the comments suggested the ex-wife had something to do with it, maybe she was there and then just fled after the incident

I think we have to remember that this was a wealthy family and money can make a lot of things happen. Being a parent I would more than likely place the blame of my child's accident or death on the person who was there reguardless of circumstances. The fact that she died before the child makes me wonder if the accident could've been investigated at all? Meaning no one fully knew what happened to child when she died. In my opinion I believe Rebecca was killed simply because she was there when the accident occurred.

The father of the boy had just told her that if the child were to survive odds are he would never walk or talk again.

It’s obvious it was the brother that was just picked up at the airport that evening. He had his suspicions. In fact, after his court trial of being he sued. He said if they got away with it once they’ll get away with it again. Meaning both sisters were there that evening and came up with this stupid story that a boy his height fell down the balcony. So he made elaborate stupid story for her to die too. It’s so obvious. This sent a clear message to investors to look deeper and he knew they weren’t, and if they did the scales of justice would of taken too long for him to get justice for his nephew. He used her hands to write it. Then cleaned up. It’s obvious looking at it as a whole and the evidence.

Who wrote that message?

Again, like I said in the comments. The words the killer used were simple. She saved him, can you save her. Means- She didn’t save the little boy. She probably killed him and the evidence proves it. So she didn’t save him and nobody else was around to save him. That’s why she murdered him, because of jealousy or money. The kid stood in the way of her relationship! So, since nobody was around to save his nephew and she didn’t, can you save her from the justice she will receive? No! Because nobody is around and he won’t save her! Once you analyze the phrase properly, then you’ll know the motive to the killer and why killing was done. Even if you agree or not. Meaning the brother of her boyfriend killed her. He was pissed and knew she pushed his nephew down the stairs. The evidence shows it and he was smart enough to catch it. He knew justice wasn’t going to be served on a platter for it. So, he took justice into his hands and gave it. Was it right? Maybe, maybe not, but murder is murder and everyone has to be held to the law or nobody will. He was willing yo take that risk. This is why the mother of the boy seems so calm on dateline. She knows. Look at the psychology of it all and reactions as a whole, not just one person. Apply it to evidence and you’ll see that both the mother and his father knew who killed his boy! Of course she couldn’t tie her hands. Of course it took awhile to call cops. They are rich and have attorneys they can call under the attorney client privileges. Was it right? That’s for you to decide!

The message “she saved him, can you save her?” Means, she didn’t save the little boy. She probably murdered him. So can you save her from what I’m going to do to her? The answer is no! Nobody was there to save the little boy and she knew that, now nobody will be here to save her and she knows that. I’m pretty sure it was the brother in her death, because he probably knew she murdered the little boy, so he did his old shot gun justice. Keep in mind this is just my analogy.

Law enforcement won't admit when they are wrong.

The brother was not married to Rebecca, they were only dating. He could have cut her loose no strings attached. The brother that lost his son was in the hospital the whole time with his ex, the mother of his son. I doubt he was in a state of mind to plot a revenge murder. Also, the son hadn't died yet when Rebecca killed herself. As far as inheritance, the brother with the kid was a self-made multi-millionaire, he didn't need any inheritance.

Jim Frost

Maybe her man was going to leave her and she wanted to frame her. But I will admit, she would have to be a top-notch vindictive woman to put together such an elaborate plan.

Jim Frost

Maybe she was an exhibitionist into bondage? :-)

Jim Frost

Who the hell ties their own hands up to hang themselves and why did they simply forget about the writing left on the wall? That man killes her and he knows it! The family only getting $600,000 is also ridiculous! This system is so damn corrupt sometimes! So very frustrating!

Anybody else think the university detective from the first interrogation sounded like John C. Reilly?

They really think she would hang herself arms and legs bound first of all, secondly, completely nude?! No way.

Right??? There's NO fucking way. & Being naked on top of all that! I HIGHLY doubt a woman or even a man would commit suicide naked. That's just ridiculous.

I'd say that's pretty normal... If someone complements you then saying thank you is polite. Being 'smart' isn't like being tall. You're born tall, you learn and study to pass something like a masters

How in the world was that ruled a suicide? Lemme get this straight. She put a noose around her neck, bound her feet and hands and managed to get over the side of a balcony how? Hopped bound over a railing that was probably at least 3 and a half feet tall? Or hopped, bound onto a table and then over the railing? Impossible. Wtf

At the time Rebecca supposedly committed suicide, Max was still alive & there was no clear prediction that he would die. Why would she kill herself when there was still a chance he would recover??

"You're smarter than me." Funny, because he isn't. Plus, who says "thanks" when they are told that they're smart?? It's like saying "thanks" for being told you are tall.

Adam definitely got away with murder

Holy fucking shit adam definetly killed her.. dirty sheriff

Alexander Wilten

I do not understand this ... I mean she could decide to commit suicide but if she would she would just did it... Why would she get naked, gagged herself, tied herself this way and then hang herself??? What would she get with it???

The suspect has a mighty huge noggin and just as equally large feet!!

I think its obvious that Adam tied her up, but she was the one who commited suicide. So much of the evidence fits this theory. Something else was going on, but Im not sure what. Maybe he was gonna torture her and she got away and jumped.

Ryan Seitz

Thanks

Possibly look in the descriptions of the videos, a lot of times a password is needed to unlock/watch the videos, if this is the case the password will be listed in the description

Why cant I watch any of these videos

Not sure if this was posted, but googled Yingying's case and found an update about her body's location on wikipedia. "Following the trial, prosecutors revealed information about Zhang's remains that Christensen divulged through his attorneys in November 2018 under an immunity agreement. The day after he killed Zhang, Christensen claimed he put Zhang's dismembered body in three separate garbage bags which he then disposed of in the dumpster outside of his apartment. Over the next two days, Christensen claimed he disposed of Zhang's personal belongings in various dumpsters in the Champaign-Urbana area. The dumpster in which Christensen placed Zhang's remains was emptied three days later and the contents taken to a private landfill in Vermilion County, compacted at least twice, spread over an area fifty yards wide, and subsequently buried under thirty feet of garbage. Recovery of Zhang's remains would be difficult and a search for her remains has not begun." Fucking hell :(

Any more info on his motivation for lying to his girlfriend about having 12 more victims? This was looked into, and the state felt it was a fabrication, but that's all I could find. Very peculiar thing for him to do. Either he knew he was going to get busted soon and wanted to build up an insanity claim, OR maybe he wished his story was true??? All I can think of. IDK, a lot of things about this dude seemed atypical from others I've seen here.

My wife left Friday with another man so I thought I was driving around on Saturday... wat?

Got wings?

The murder here was planned by the two brothers. “He saved her, can you save her?” ‘He’ is probably the son (might’ve saved her by being born, or by standing in the way the first time Rebecca was to die). ‘Her’ is Rebecca. The brothers probably planned it all very carefully, The husband might have wanted a new life, no more wife, no more kids. His father was ill, maybe an inheritance issue whatever that may come about. The brother, probably flew in just to carry this out. This isn’t reliable, but by looking at the way the brothers act, one is clearly the planner and methodical and the other impulsive and reckless... a dangerous duo, coupled by the fact that they have bunch of money they probably act as if untouchable.

why suicide? what was the point of being naked? the message on the door? I would like to know about all the other bound and gagged suicides out there. I believe it's a millionaire who is not even trying to hide it and getting away with a horrific crime.

It was 2019, yet the police still use polygraph tests? Smh...

crazy case.....i actually lean more towards suicide myself, but still....a very fascinating and tragic case, and I see why many are convinced the brother murdered Rebecca.

Dispatch is useless most of the time. Most dispatchers (unless in huge and/or well-paid depts) are mostly gals that barely have a clean criminal record and don't mind sitting around their whole lives in front of a computer getting yelled at for 10 bucks an hour. It is RARE to find a good dispatcher where there isn't a competitive market (i.e.: good pay from large dept or large budget from rich town).

Dispatch was useless . I thought they could track phones?

Therapist, here! The "admit to a lesser offense/activity" technique is literally known as the "Foot in the Door Phenomenon," discovered/titled by Johnathan Freedman and Scott Fraser in their research at Stanford University, in 1966.

The fact that someone could even argue and say that it's possible Rebecca bound and gagged herself is sick.

think about that guy biking past the car... wonder how many crimes we could all stop if we had just known a little bit more info.

On that end, considering without the money they have, Rebecca's family wouldn't have been able to put up a proper lawsuit against someone like Adam.

It's a civil lawsuit. You can't go to jail for it. It doesn't create a criminal precedent either unfortunately. The burden of proof is much less heavy in a civil lawsuit than a criminal lawsuit.

It's not right what money will allow ppl

Wait he didn't go to jail he just have the family of Rebecca a settlement?!?! I thought he was found guilty. He killed her after his little BDSM fix straight up. Did they check her for his semen?

24:00 "These questions are getting hard; better explain how racist I am."

DrinkingMercury

This case is bonkers. How in the fuck did they convince a jury that she tied herself up. That is complete madness. I think money had to have played into the equation.

Jim Reeder

suicide my ass. she was definitely murdered..

my only problem is that you dont have 1000 videos! i think you make such brilliant content!

Adam Shacknai got away with murder. Looks like somebody was paid off by the rich family. Who gags herself and ties their own hands behind their back and also binds their own feet before committing suicide? Also the grunting sounds he was making while doing CPR (aka stalling before providing address) were such BS.

Lie detectors aren't used in court rooms in USA and not found as truthful evidence, in european countries, so why does a lie detector test have so much power? Rebecca Zahau didn't commit suicide and she was obviously only worth 600.000 usd!

kiu (aka kirstine)

my god, the agents interrogating Christiansen did an absolutely incredible job. Best I've seen, massive kudos to them and for forcing him into a corner.

Adam clearly thought everyone else in the world was an idiot like him.

Ryan Montgomery

yeah its totally normal. When people suicide they def tie their hands behind their back and gag themselves before hanging themselves. OH and also get naked. really dude?

It always amazes me how even intelligent people make the stupid decision to speak to interrogators.

Heya is it possible to watch this on vimeo? i can enlarge it on patreon for some reason

Filly

Her clothes were not found at the scene. Adam has a fetish for asian bondage and was looking at it at night. Her legs were sticky but no tape was found at the scene. They found a pair of black gloves, a latex glove AND blood in the shower, nothing was tested on DNA. Female panties were found in the property's guest apartment were Adam was staying. This wasn't ever tested on DNA aswell. The knots, the head injuries, the bed not moving although it moved when they recreated the event....... money

I followed the case at the time, and I believe Rebecca had nothing to do with Max’s death, that Adam Shacknai at least knows more than he admits to, but the mother of the boy was sketchy too. She hated Rebecca, even before the death of her son. And although she was at the hospital at the time of Rebecca’s death, at least one person told police they saw her in the vicinity of Rebecca’s house around at that same time. Turns out Max’s mother has a twin sister who had, if I remember correctly, flown to California after Max’s accident and wasn’t at the hospital with her sister. I always thought the twin sisters had something to do with it as well as Adam Shaknai, and that there obviously was some coverup done by the PD. This is a very bizarre case.

Why would anyone settle for 600k when he's innocent?

Because there was no physical evidence all this is circumstantial and for some reason could conceivably be done by someone of their own volition and there was enough evidence to create a reasonable doubt that this was the case

How does one rule that: 1) a woman 2) found hanging 3) GAGGED 4) nautical-knot-bound feet AND hands 5) tied BEHIND the back 6) NUDE 7) & ON DISPLAY 8) complete with a cryptic message scribbled on the wall WRITTEN FROM A THIRD PERSON POV (with handwriting that presumably could be tested against her's) ...is CONSISTENT WITH SUICIDE? It boggles the mind I actually cannot believe it. I mean they even have the option to find cause of death to be "Undetermined." Nope... "suicide." Her poor family (not to mention the poor little boy who died - such a sad story all around). Even putting suspects aside - opinions on suspects aren't even relevant because just looking at the crime scene alone... it is simply not consistent on SO. MANY. LEVELS.

The most fascinating thing about Yingying Zhang's case to me is how even when he was blabbing to his girlfriend about how prowess as a killer, he held back and didn't disclose what he did with the body. My theory is that through his research he became aware of alkaline hydrolysis and performed some kind of DIY bio cremation on her body in the bathtub of his apartment. He had the apartment to himself for the weekend and with his science background, he would have been more capable than most of coming up with a method.

He's just copying Ted Bundy's MO, imitating him. She would have been the first of many had he not thrown the game away at the last minute. I think she was the first and his flunking out of grad school is what sparked him to pursue this new career as a serial killer. It's like, he can't be a a famous physicist now, but he can become a famous serial killer instead.

The first one that guy definitely has killed 12 people prior you don't go around hunting and rape and kill someone is like a one-time thing

I disagree it seemed like he was telling the truth from the get-go and even though it might be unusual people do kill themselves and unusual ways

He DID set the phone down while cutting her loose. But this one is a real head-scratcher. SOMEONE had to do it, likely him or his brother. It was NOT a suicide, thats for sure.

kneeL

I do not believe that a woman would strip herself down naked, gagged herself and then hung herself off a balcony for the world to see. Also, it is not possible to properly administer CPR with the subject laying bound, with their hands behind their back.

Seriously, like I think that guy was probably guilty but theven operator was so effing useless. Like, what if the woman was still alive and that dumb bitch is over there talking about she needs the EXACT address with a rude tone..

so do you think the woman actually hung herself? why didn't the guy set the phone down, when cutting her lose? What does that cryptic message mean?

Oslo Zeimantz

That foot tapping during the "fear up" technique spoke volumes.

That’s why Madeline McCann’s parents should have been bugged. Convicted without a body.

What a sick piece of shit Brent was. Good on his ex-gf for recording his arrogant ramblings. He couldn’t even give the location of the body for the poor parents to bring her home.

the part at 48:29 labelled 'inaudible' he was saying "hold her steady" at least that's what I got.

"you know... we didn't bring you up here to talk about video games, or what you had for lunch that day" lol love this

Curtis Cullen

49:52 - another useless 911 operator.

"I have trouble telling Asian people apart from one another" WELL DANG!

Alternatively, he killed her because he didn't accept her apology, or she didn't apologize, or said something which set him off...

Tim T

Wow, great cases. But on that last one, I think the guy def killed his brother's girlfriend in revenge for his nephew. This may sound cruel, but I feel like that golddigger deserved to die after being so negligent with the kid. It's hard to even believe he died from that scooter accident too, maybe she had something to do with it and that shit came back to her.

Brothers and sisters, I have an announcement. If I'm ever found hanging naked from a balcony, gagged and hands tied behind my back... It wasn't me!

The guy really tips his hand hard right from the start. Why in the world is he trying to provide and alibi explicitly when he's not even being accused of anything yet????

Understand your need for physical evidence, but he also admitted picking her up. What are the odds that a guy with a broken marriage "drives around" and picks up a later murder victim, lies about it but still is innocent?

Jonas

by the way he was grunting, that wasn't CPR. sick fuker.

Peggy Thomas Executive Director PUFFER CORPS

Well I think the feelings & impulses grow over time. Sometimes trauma that somebody experiences as an adult can cause their mindset to switch enough to do something like this... I highly doubt this guy just randomly decided to do it, without having wrestled with the horrible thoughts in his mind for possibly years and years

I think she wasn't fully dead when he made the 911 call and that's why he started shouted at you fucking kidding me and left the phone. She was probably wriggling around a little bit. It may have been post mortem movement also. I have had training in performing CPR and when he is talking during it he doesnt sound like hes putting any effort into it. CPR after 2-4 minutes is extremely fatiguing even for very fit people.

there's a reason why people kill themselves instead of going to jail; he's going to be kept in a dark cell by himself 23/7 treated like the shit on the floor for the rest of his life. that's a pretty good ending for him. unless you're talking from a taxpayer's perspective, I guess.

What a cruel man, cold, calculated asshole.

Why not just ask him the question!

why the fuck did they give him life in prison after he admitted to killing 12 more people,i think he should be put to death

Doron Feder

I'm sure the guy who has extensive experience trying knots didnt do it, had to be the lady with 0 experience, Logically

I see where you're coming from Mags, but the law did what it supposed to and proved he did it beyond a reasonable doubt. He was the last person seen with her alive and, I assume, they have cell tower and GPS data on where he took her. You should let me know if they ever found a murder scene.

The Chinese exchange student one is also difficult to believe. Part of me thinks he did it but another thinks he just walked into a trap and they wanted to just arrest someone. The girlfriend also taped him drunk so would that even count? What if he was just paranoid/scared? I need a body. Did they find any physical evidence in his car? Too frustrating especially since they haven’t found her.

Miggi

My theory was that the boyfriends family paid off the cops in the second one. The boyfriend wasn’t aware though. They are millionaires after all. Could have been someone they simply hired to humiliate and kill her, then they just act all shocked when finding her. Someone once told me her own family did it to get money from the boyfriend, that’s why that message was on the wall (but that theory sounds too weird for me). Also, isn’t it just super cool that mansions don’t have any security footage?

Miggi

I'm really worried about the first one because the way he responds is the exact way i'd probably respond and i'm innocent. Also, what just makes someone randomly kill at say 25 years old or 30 years old. Why not since day one. It sounds crazy but 11 year old killers make more sense to me. Because its in them. As soon as they an they do. Adults just go through life then one day be like oh actually ima rape and kill.

I honestly can't watch the second half of this video- it's beyond infuriating to see how this man got away with such a blatant murder. And then the way the victim was vilified after her death....just disgusting.

The last case is what you get when you have tons of money and corrupt police. My god only a fool would believe someone would actually kill themselves like that.

John Myzell

Why did the first dude claim innocence after hearing the FBI recordings of him saying murder is his legacy. Did he use insanity defense? Or plead innocent. Or guilty? Can't find it w Google.

It always kills me when people say this stuff. Their job is not to be a therapist to the caller, it’s to extract and relay information to the people that are responding. This person did a fine job.

I'm fine with both, so that's just you.

This would be a bit more compelling without the tv news footage. We’re here for the smooth narration, not some talking heads.

Jackie

HOW?

DB Koopa

Shacknai is innocent.

I’m wondering the same thing. Maybe in the free YouTube content? I’d love to see them

What happen to the old most compelling videos. Like the first 6

the fact that the second case was framed as a suicide is ridiculous

911 operator had a bitchy tone even if she wasn’t trying to do it on purpose it can be easily misinterpreted as bitchy as others in the comment section felt the same vibe. Shouldn’t be doing 911

Do you mean that all of the lands that make up the United States of America are cursed or that every person who lives there is cursed? Or maybe both? Are you sure you aren't just sort of emotionally triggered about what happened to that girl or do you really believe what you posted?

Hi, hello :) Im from Poland, love watching your vids; and 1st time im kinda 'shocked' i mean how the fuck in the second story the crimnal charges wasnt... pursuit? Isnt that kinda obvious that she didnt commit suicide? I never get your justice system :) 99% he slipped away coz of money, my opinion, or im missing something?

Exactly what i was thinking...she can't even alert ANYONE until she has an EXACT address... I didn't realise how archaic america is. Im from Aus and if you ring 000 which is our emergency number they will dispatch people immediately...also if 000 is dialed and no1 speaks then cops are dispatched too the call location

Money talk

The United States is truly a fucked up country. That whole place is cursed.

it is so insane to me that dispatch can't triangulate where he was, as well as the dispatcher taking so long to get him in touch with someone to give CPR instructions, it's scary knowing people like that are between you and the balance of life and death. I mean so often things happen and you don't know your exact address I guess too bad for you, just go ahead and die, truly chilling.... Also that scumbag from the first interrogation truly is the filth of this world my heart goes out to her and her family.

Can Pateron-only posts get the introduction added back in like the YouTube content recieves?

The fear of hiring a lawyer because it looks bad has to have gotten 99percent of these guys

Fishyyyy

I read up on that case from head to toe before trial and was glued to the screen watching the trial on tv. It was really something. The psychological “”cat and mouse”, and absolute narcissism and manipulation on Jodi’s part was fascinating and enraging. Her defense attorney wrote a book that I suggest reading. She’s just awful.

Elena

I wasn’t going to watch any of the Chris Watt’s stuff because my brain has just been over saturated with it as THE “YouTube coverage” murder for whatever reason, I didn’t think there was possibly anything else for me to get out of another video but you’re right... these JSC videos ALWAYS offer more insight and psychological explanation than anything else (although I am a little surprised he/they didn’t go into the suspicious aspects of the boy’s death in the last case in this video). Anyway, I can’t even count the number of people I’ve steered over to this channel from insightful comment threads on other true crime videos.

Elena

I remember reading that there were a lot of suspicions around the boy’s death... like that he couldn’t have gone over the balcony at his height, the timing of the 911 call and other issues. I wish I could remember, but I do remember feeling fairly “wtf” about her involvement in the boy’s death. The whole thing is fishy to me, on both ends.

Elena

I do the exact same thing. Thanks for making me feel slightly less weird.

I always put these on to sleep because the narrator has such a soothing voice (as long as Ive already watched it; otherwise they’re too interesting to sleep against). Weird dreams, though. I do it on YouTube, too, to help get the view count up. Anything for JSC.

Elena

In a civil case (as opposed to a criminal case), the issue can be settled out of court, where the defendant (Adam Shacknai) can pay the plaintiff (the Zahau family) and "settle" the case. It was paid by the accused, or in this case perhaps the insurance company.

MarvinCZ

What a loser.

More content jimmy!!!

Last one was a rollercoaster, such a tragic series of events. Anyone else feel a little weird about the circumstances there? For example, I was really surprised to see Adam Shacknai's brother would represent him as a lawyer, I would be incredibly skeptical of my brother's involvement. It made me wonder if Zahau's boyfriend, the kid's father, saw Zahau as the one responsible for his son's death and he and his brother were in on her murder together. Something just felt weird...

That last one is really fishy. However, I can never get my head around how filing a lawsuit just to get money can make it better. I would want justice, couldn't give two f***s about money.

Very interesting. So glad I decided to become a Patreon, I knew you had more content but I had no idea how much.

Suicide? Sherlock Holmes would have had a hard time making that fit. Do we know more about her background? Was she even capable of achieving this feat? Is she the type of person to create such an artistic and picturesque and elaborate suicide?

Russ Walker

Good post, as usual! Have you seen the Alek Minassian interrogation? That would be quite an interesting analysis if you chose to do one.

Not bizarre at all. In many states, there are technical reasons for asking for a MUCH larger amount in suit papers than you are hoping/willing to accept in settlement. Out used to be that way in NY, where I practice, until the legislature did away with asking for an amount.

That is bizarre that they sued for $10Million and settled for $600k.

Jonathan Berman

How about the Michael Dreika interrogation. The guy who was yelling at some dudes wife for being parked in a handicapped spot in Florida, guy comes out of store shoves Michael Dreika and Michael Dreika pulls his gun and shoots him. That interrogation was super weird. Michael Dreika was really unemotional about the fact he took a life when he was told the guy that he shot didn’t make it.

EXACTLY !!!!

Steve, you deserve a raise. I for one completely stop working to watch the moment I get the notification 😬

I don't understand the settlement at the end.. who paid who 600k, and what can be implied from that?! Ugh, maybe it's just late.. There's some shoddy police work in that case to begin with, - it should have been possible to find evidence that he killed her.. ..

Hey, if the Clinton can do that to their 50+ associates, what stopping other millionaires?

the last one: what the utter fuck is wrong with law enforcement? how on earth are they so quick to believe shit is suicide when theres so many "nahhhhhhh totally not" signs? who the fuck ties their own hands behind their back for a jump hanging? and naked?

Anyone know what happened to the prison vid?

Holy shit, the psychology behind all your stuff is mind-blowing. Literally. That's the reason why I wait so patiently for your next chapter in your "Chris Watts" series.

I'm going to need some serious evidence to convince me he didint do it. Also I think the brother was involved but paying in cash to not be connected.

Hey Jim, fantastic video, if you’re looking for a case you might be interested in this https://apple.news/ALGplBM9TQdKbESgYJ_pl8w

That last case is beyond words, but, I guess if you're a billionaire, you're always innocent. Suicide my ass!

Great video Jim and Crew! Thanks for the great content, your videos are what motivates me to go into the criminology field! <3

(Last case) Dude looks super guilty and shit doesn't make any sense... But I've seen enough crime shows to think a person guilty based on interrogations and circumstatial information that it it's at least plausible guy didn't do it. Although common sense does kind of point to the boyfriend calling up his brother to come kill her... Although at the same time you'd have to be an idiot to tie her up like that, hang her, and call 911... Although just because his brother has money doesn't mean he's not a complete idiot... Crap... I dunno...

Brilliant, Jim & Co! Keep this stuff coming.

Chris Green

Right... Even a police officer (the vast majority at least) ask for a rep or lawyer. Even if I were to be innocent, I'd never talk without a lawyer present. You never know what could happen in there.

I'd love to see some videos of suspects that got over on the officers. Love your content, but am also incredibly interested in seeing someone (who didn't just ask for an attorney or at least right away). Either way, keep up the awesome work. Love the psychological games that are at play, and would like to see the otherside of these interviews!

The last one pisses me off that the family would drop the case for a money settlement. Why/how would someone tie their hands and gag themselves and then hang themselves, makes 0 sense.

It always amazes me how none of these people ask for a lawyer.

It's all just so strange. I would love to know what exactly happened to both the child and the woman. I feel like he seems visibly guilty... like he was involved some how in at least one of these deaths but like you were saying maybe he wasn't involved directly, possibly contributing to his ability to pass the polygraph test. It just seems like something is off.

Collin Cook

Wow everything with the last case just seems weird. Things don't add up I feel like he is guilty... how ever, lacking any decisive evidence would leave him innocent I guess. damn. I would just love to know exactly what happened to both the child and the woman.

Collin Cook

I was wondering why this sounded so familiar then I realized I listened to this case on the crime junkie podcast on Sunday. Some of the points they made were similar if not verbatim to what you say in this video. The girls at CJ have recently come under fire for plagiarizing their work. Please go take a listen for yourself and decide for yourself but I’m pretty sure they were heavily inspired by this video. I didn’t check to see if they gave you credit but I hope you see this message. I know you guys put so much work into what you do so I just hope they at least gave credit.

lmao ppl bringing up free speech never quite understand it...it means the GOVERNMENT cannot silence you. This is a private platform correct? You agreed to terms yes? Learn your amendments before you accuse ppl of nonsense..just a suggestion.

JCS is a Marxist who banned my comment 'imposing absolute equality is tyrannical' He doesn't respect free speech

Whaaaat only 18 people own that car in the entire state that's insane 😂

Uhhhh...

Too Much Sascha

Common sense says someone murdered that girl -- that's not how a distraught young woman kills herself.

I would say probably not. They most likely spend a large portion to pay for legal fees. They also offered 100k reward for info about her death just this past August. I would think they sued to prove guilt and to punish them in some way aka their wallet.

Definitely a revenge murder and these are rich, powerful Jews.

does the second cases family taking the 600k mean they were just in it for the money?

Ali Garrett Guneken

Why else would you have a gag? And the knowledge of knots is important to me too. I mean, you can really look up anything you want on YouTube or whatever these days, but how many people do I know that can tie knots like that?

Sally Violet

Man this one has bothered me for a while I really don't know what to think in this case I do know that she did not kill herself not a single shred of the evidence points to her killing herself. However I cannot bring myself to say for sure that the brother-in-law killed her either, I know there is a lot more info that was not included in this video about how the real mother of Max felt about the stepmother. That being said maybe there was a third party involved in some way.

Sally Violet

How is this not fresh content? This video is what the channel is about.

When is there going to be fresh content instead of repeating old cases in new jackets? Its been a while. Love the way you present these, love the knowledge and quality. But i am getting these thoughts so why not express them.

Paul Wevers

Goes to show money talks, you can literally be gagged, bounded, and strung up and it be labeled a suicide

Jim it's this the reason why you can't swim? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIAgtD5OX9k

I don't necessarily think Adam S killed Zahau but it's definitely not a suicide. If it were a suicide why would she leave the weird note on the wall? Why would she gag herself? Why would she tie herself up? Police dropped the ball on that if they didn't look for other suspects.

I feel like that girl in the second case really did push that little boy over the balcony... then the brother hung her

My question is: was the decapitating, serial-killer a psychopath? The trembling when he realised they knew was very strange. Would a psychopath react like that?

Simon Woods

2nd case is nuts, some deputy or court official was clearly paid off.

Girlfriend in the first case must have acted like she was into serial killers or something. I can't believe that this moron killed multiple people, he was just trying to impress her.

The first case is a stunner. Great job, Jim. I'm so glad the girlfriend stepped up, did the right thing. (Please be careful with the sound edits. If I have to turn up the volume for the interrogation, when you cut in so much louder I jump.)

Man, this guy really just did not think through this at all, did he? I guess he thought he could say, "I was sleeping." and they'd say, "Oh, sorry to bother you"??

This one was really fascinating, thanks Jim! I work night shift a week per month and save the new videos you post to get my through it! Think I’ve seen them all 5 times over now.

18.5k Patreon followers congratulations Jim your channel has grown so much and so quickly

Michael Rice

Because the sixth and eighth amendment

possible corruption?

I'd like to see videos about the psychology behind murder-suicides.

Why don't they hand cuff him to the chair that's bolted to the floor pour salt water on him, shoot him with the tazer and every time he denies murder hit him with the tazor. Simple and saves on a trial

The first case broke my heart. Cried.

Daniel Espina

as long as Jim keeps putting videos on patreon, I'll continue to support. Super entertaining for anyone that ever major in psychology.

He's done a couple of innocent ones in the past.

There was no evidence of sexual contact... Even the family tried to bring a rape accusation forward in the case and it was unfounded. If DNA evidence of sexual activity was found, the case would have gone much differently, but there was nothing that pointed to that.

Why? She was doing her job exactly as they are trained to. Just because it was "inconvenient" to what the viewer wanted to happen doesn't mean she wasn't following protocol. She did everything she was supposed to effectively.

thank you for covering yingying's case. i go to UIUC and the case hit very close to home. your insight was very interesting

rosepalms

The leasing agent and her friends sounded the alarm within minutes *BUT* all calls are routed to Campus Safety at colleges and Universties (to "manage" date rapes IN House and not inform "Real" police). Bumbling Campus Safety Rent-a-cops interviewed the murderer for immediately yet it took another 2 days for the FBI to clean up the mess. Gotta protect the budding Kavanaughs.

first case proves... girlfriends cannot be trusted :D (jk baby I love you)

I have no idea how that first guy got away with so many murders, he was awful under pressure. That second one was just garbage, who would kill themselves But also gag and use a complex knot? Reeks of foul play.

Yeah he is...I’ve learned so much 😏😂

Love your videos!!! Does giving out the interrogation strategies that are being used, aren't you giving criminals who watch these videos too much information?

So what the hell they didn’t reopen the investigation?

LeonKilroy

innocent till proven guilty.

I was so excited to watch your video! I need my JCS monthly supply of excellent editing and narration. The first video was intense watching him lie to the cops.

Just one thing I'd like to see added to your videos, when you mention dates it's hard to remember them. So if you could be like "12th june 2017, X days after going missing" that would be great, thanks.

I cannot believe in the 2nd case that they concluded it was a suicide! Shows money is power. If this was an average person they would have tried much harder to get a confession out of him. Also that man that took the polygraph test basically praising him for getting an inconclusive result that sided more to him being innocent.. ridiculous !!! I also hope they did more investigations into the 1st guy on his confession to 12 other murders!!

It was odd how the phone went off at that crucial point. Great stuff!!

Appallingly terrible police work.

I love "the look" between the investigators to initiate the confrontation in the first interrogation. It reminds of the "look" the warden would give his top correctional officer in The Shawshank Redemption before a confrontation.

Melisa Matkin

I am genuinely angry over the outcome of the second case tbh. I just think it's utterly reprehensible that the sheriff deemed that woman's death a suicide and refused to pursue the case any further, As for the woman's family's financial settlement several years later, that has nothing to do with the initial investigation and determination.

"she saved him, can you save her" written in third person and seemingly sarcastic. As if its someone else assigning blame to her. If she killed herself out of guilt why would she say she saved him and say it in third person. Why gag yourself? What explains all the minor trauma to her body? All the marks on her back? The injuries to her head? The examiner placed her dead hours before he found her yet he tried that much CPR on a cold and stiffening corpse? Where did she learn all the nautical knots? How can he say she hung herself when he found her like that!? LOL dude if i found someone like that i would not think suicide. the most important question, How much influence and money does it take to have this ruled suicide so easily?

Our news media is garbage, they've abandoned journalism long ago.

Plus, one of the accusations presented in court was that he raped her prior to killing her. I wonder what led them to believe that...

you are missing one possibility in my opinion. a crime of passion. if he thinks she killed the kid, maybe for financial gain of some kind or others, the anger he would have could cause him to paint the message and tie her up etc. first, then afterwards panic and pretend he stumbled across her and fake the entire 911 call. makes sense to me

ok first off, epic video, really. secondly, the first guy i was well shocked when it turned out he'd got away with 12 murders prior, just wow, i guess 13 is an unlucky number, truly crazy. as far as the second guy goes, he was a tugboat captain? for real? Pulling off a knot like that behind your back??? no way she was in that state through her own actions. he is 100% guilty for many reasons. I would argue that he killed her, not only because he believed she killed his nephew, but potentially because he could've believed she did it to put her in line for inheritance of her boyfriend (his brothers) millions. Money is clearly a big factor in this story seeing as her family settled for 600k. just 600k after all of that???? i would've sued for everything or more honourably take nothing and make sure he spends life inside. never underestimate money in a case like this, the lawyers on both sides would've been licking their lips im sure. i would lean towards her not killing the kid because financially she would have had better options and that would be the coldest one, although there's slightly limited info to go off of. just my opinions

Being from the UK, what always irks me about your journalists and TV news people in the US is the way they go about presenting these things - they're all always smiling or smirking while they talk about the gruesome details, always sensationalising everything, always gossiping about it in the same cheerful way...like, it's pretty clear they don't give a damn, but they could at least try to appear serious and sombre. I watch and think, 'is this a murder or a circus?', it's that bad.

Only explanation is to frame someone albeit so far fetched

Notice how at 57:59 he pretends to act frustrated when the polygrapher says it was inconclusive. I believe he was very happy to hear it was inconclusive. This guy is the only one that had access and he clearly did it. It was his first night there and he probably tried to comfort the girlfriend and make a move. Total weasel going after his brother’s girlfriend in the middle of his nephew being seriously hospitalized. They should’ve tested his hands for paint and taken off his shirt to see if there any marks on his body. He’s likely hiding marks with such a baggy shirt. He’s also wearing colored/tinted glasses and in my experience only creeps do that. That is not evidence, but we all know it’s always the creeps that do.

Why if I exit out to check my messages or something can I not return to the same spot in the video?? Super frustrating....

PrincessPeach

So what happened to DNA? Did they not do any kind of DNA testing on the rope? That whole case stinks of collusion

These videos crash all the time. Patreon needs to fix their video service

Keep it up

That last case gets me really angry. He so killed her. It’s obvious!

mira

So...he put the scarf back into her throat *after* performing CPR? She was found with the gag still in her mouth, correct? Who preps to hang themselves by tying their ankles together, let alone their wrists behind their back? It makes ZERO sense. How they could have ruled that a suicide is beyond me.

The Shacknai case makes no sense. If you were trying to make a murder look like a suicide, why would you bind her hands and paint a cryptic message on the door? On the other hand, if you were suicidal, why do these things to make it appear like a murder? (Binding your own hands I can see, if were worried about having second thoughts after jumping, but the message on the wall is truly very strange.)

I spilled my coffee because I clicked so fast. I will of course clean it after I watch the new JCS video.

Doktor650

The first one got me...it tells you that even the smartest have the darkest minds... I wonder if they ever try to investigate the other murders he said he committed since 18 🤔.... I also wonder if police are still tryin to look for the girl .... really sad that the parents can bury her or even say their goodbye to her 🥺😞

Polygraphs aren't admissible in court leading me to believe the results are entirely worthless. I understand they can be a psychological tool during an interogation but do police actually take the results seriously?

Rabbi Sheckleystein

That last one was crap. What woman who has a last minute decision to kill herself decides to do so by tying herself up in the trickiest way possible IN THE NUDE and then hang herself? I do NOT understand how that man was not convicted in 1st degree murder.

Grace Baker

Just finished watching :) another great video thanks Jim!

awwww yeah some new JCS

jim you have wonderful videos. theyre always interesting. it would be cool to see some innocent interrogations just to see what telling the truth sounds like. thanks again!

Chavonne Kruger

That polygraph of the brother was poorly worded and horribly done. He didn't enter into the subject's language. Terrible practice on the polygrapher's part. She was murdered. There is so much evidence to indicate murder... The coroner's conclusion is a joke.

Hey Jim! I have a suggestion for you. Thanks to you I discovered the trial of Judy Arias and watched many clips of the amazing work of the prosecutor Juan Martinez. Watching him fight with ever elusive, always manipulating and always lying Judy was fantstic. And I thought trials where prosecutors and witnesses fight it out would be a great content for your channel. Edit it down, add your great commentary and you have golden material! Cheers

This reminds me of a case of a woman who was found in a closet with her hands tied behind her back and still was found guilty of murder

YESSSSSSSS! NEW JCS

USA - Land of the free to kill, as long as you have the money to pay for it.

Shacknai case is odd. I could understand if the death was a sex act gone wrong... But suicide?! How in any sane world could a *criminal investigator* see bound hands feet *AND* a message written on the wall and not continue with criminal charges/investigation if they had more evidence that something else happened why wouldn't they present it. This whole case just brings a hell of a lot more questions than answers and i don't think my brain will be able to let it go

TreeVeins_ForrestEyes

He came across to me as a very strange individual to say the least. Also, not many realise this but it is very easy when cuffed/bound to move your arms from front to back or vice versa. Achieved by, sitting on ground, bringing legs close to chest as possible and sliding the wrists under you butt then under you legs and voila

I think money talks when it comes to the verdict of this case. If it was anybody else that did not have money, and was a tugboat captain, and the ropes were tied in the noughts they were, that person would be doing life. There's more specific questions I would like to put on here but I don't want to completely ruin it for anybody who hasn't seen it. Awesome work again Jim thank you

its also very suspicious that her feet are bound so she would have to jump. hobble, and strangely roll herself over that fence to "jump"..... I don't believe she committed suicide just my opinion, its a very dramatic suicide and have honestly never read about anything like getting naked, gagging oneself, bounding oneself and then the cryptic note... its super suss under the circumstances.

they sued him because the police wouldn't charge him and it was the only way they could get justice...

Just got home from a hard day at work. The notification I got at midday helped me get through it. Watching now. Cheers Jim.

Brother you're content is brilliant, ride this out!

i love how the dude pumps him up by saying "wow, way smarter than me" and he eats it all up by saying thanks

“Better late than never.” I didn’t give any thought to that saying before, but it’s true. Always trust your gut, and DON’T accept a ride from a stranger!!

It terrifies me to think just because that knot expert can do it, people think shacknai is innocent. Horrifying if that man is allowed to be free

Shacknai.... hmmm.... not a killer but definitely implicit in the death of Zahau. So interesting. I really don’t have a concrete opinion.

Lee Sewall

Same.

Ann Smajstrla

this is the best $1 i have ever spent without a doubt

They say they are for police interrogations more than anything, but I agree, they seem more useless than helpful, in my honest opinion.

Crafty Criminalist

Yet another case that reinforces the fact that polygraphs are useless in criminal justice. Stop using Polygraphs already! They are unreliable

This is super interesting as a senior at UIUC I remember seeing her disappearance. Great content as always!

The worst part of a Jim video is when it’s over and you have to wait many days for another one :(

Good stuff.

Regarding the second case, that guy is guilty in my opinion. There is some evidence that suggest murder, such as hands and ankles tied. But for me it was the interrogation. The guy lied the whole way through but he’s a rich narcissist so he doesn’t feel guilty which is why the polygraph didn’t work right.

Apparently it isn't unheard of https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19237850

How could you possibly settle on that last case? No amount of money could justify that evidence. What kind of person decides to get naked, bound their own hands and feet and gag themselves, then hang themself? Who has time for that when they are "so distraught"? They should've had the woman who did the polygraph for Chris Watts do his polygraph too.

It's not even proven that he did it.

Zakkuri

If you had all night to carry it out, and knew the correct precautions to take, you wouldn't need to be a wizard not to leave any traces of DNA. And planting the victim's DNA would have also been a relatively simple task. It was also stated that the message on the door was in Adam's handwriting. I think he either killed her, or was set up. It's extremely unlikely that she killed herself IMO

I watched almost the entire Adam Shacknai civil trial and had no bias going into it. He is 100% innocent. There's so much forensic evidence that showed she tied the ropes, wrote the message, threw herself over the balcony, etc. And absolutely no evidence Adam had been in the room, let alone did any of the those things. I can sum it up this way: if Adam killed her he wouldn't just have to be a criminal mastermind, he'd have to be a friggin wizard. No DNA, no fingerprints, somehow threw her over the balcony and only left her footprints in the dust. And managed to leave her DNA and fingerprints exactly where they needed to be to make it look like she did everything. I'm only listing a few pieces of evidence, but the list goes on: how the rope was cut, the brushes that were used to paint the message, the handwriting, etc. etc. etc. It's an interesting trial and I'm sure JCS fans wouldn't regret watching it. It's all on YouTube. If a sophisticated JCS viewer can watch the entire thing and still come away thinking he's guilty I'd be shocked. Go watch the reactions of legal experts covering the case when the verdict came in: they were all shocked. The entire trial I was waiting for the other shoe to drop and the plantiffs to introduce something, anything, that made Adam look guilty, and it never came.

So they are trying to say that the victim went and picked up the brother at the airport and then decided to get naked , put a gag in her mouth , bound her legs , magically tied her hands behind her back and committed suicide while her boyfriends brother is in the house ? How in the world could the police conclude it was a suicide . This woman was living the life and she randomly kills herself and doesn’t leave a note . Even if she could pull a suicide off with her hands behind her back why would she tie her hands behind her back , gag herself , and tie her legs ???? What possible reason would she do that ? Suicide ?? Lmfao you have got to be kidding me. One last question . The news report stated this was a “famous mansion”. There is no video surveillance there at all ? I think the billionaire handed someone a million dollars and said rule it a suicide to save his brother .

Nah, that was only a theory put forward by the family, but if there was evidence of rape they would have gathered samples from the suspect and that pretty much would've decided the case.

Zakkuri

Correct. He either killed her, was set up, or it was in fact a suicide, which is the least plausible if you look at all the evidence. As for checking his phone while doing CPR, it's a good point. But surely you would focus on one thing at a time to get in done as quickly as possible. Like getting the address first, informing dispatch, then going back to CPR. I think he was making an effort to keep the CPR noises going, which isn't to say he's guilty. Just because he was trying to come across as innocent as possible doesn't mean that he's not innocent. There was no evidence of a sexual assault.

Omg I was just researching this case last night. This was so sad reading about her Case. What a sick SOB that guy is! I feel so bad for her family, Rest Peacefully Yingying Zhang.

Crafty Criminalist

when does it say that she was raped...?

In regards to the second case, either way, a lot of things don’t make sense Scenario 1 - The brother killed her Why tie her up so elaborately? Why not remove the gag? Why write the strange “she saved him now you save her” on the door…? This doesn’t seem to serve any purpose other than drawing attention to him as a suspect Scenario 2 - She hung herself Why tie and gag herself, nude, before hanging herself? At the sight of a woman naked, bound, gagged, and hanging from a noose, why was the brother’s immediate conclusion that she hung herself? A few other thoughts: - You mention in the video that he finds the address while doing CPR, I think it is entirely reasonable that he attempted to continue CPR with one hand while looking up the address on his phone with the other. - Was there evidence of sexual assault or recent sexual activity? My understanding is that this is fairly easy to check for Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that she was murdered by someone else who knew the brother would receive all of the heat. Maybe there was more to the story of the kid getting hurt. Also, the victim's family settling out of court for 600k does not sound like the actions of a family seeking justice, and more of a family looking to squeeze whatever they can out of a millionaire who just lost his son and girlfriend.

True, but that kind of knot is what sealed it for me

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19237850 People restrain themselves during hanging suicides to prevent themselves from aborting the attempt. Its quite well documented. Not saying that is what happened but its by no means signs of murder automatically. Surprised Jim wouldnt highlight this fact.

the fact that this man said "were pretty vanilla together" lmfao lets you know hes into some way deeper shit

"There is no way in hell a woman would ever in a million years hang herself NAKED." What...?

Sam The Man

The second guy killed her in my opinion. I think it might have been suicide as even tying a knot in front of you and "stepping over" your hands if you are flexible enough, taking clothes off and gag could be there to be dramatic. I mean if there was evidence of sexual assault then the guy would be guilty. Also as we know from previous videos- it's not easy to beat the polygraph. Twisted case, the worst part is that I don't even feel sorry for the family as they only sued the guy to get money, not to get justice.

Although I love JCS I hate the murderous assholes he covers. I hope to never live in a world where JCS can cover one of these sick bastards a day

Great compilation and narration, as always. Thank you! Second case - the suicide verdict doesn't sit right. The brother seems volatile and gives off a creepy vibe. Autoerotic asphyxia overtones with the hog-tied and naked thing. What did the cryptic message on the wall mean? Weird.

So the last man basically got away with murder. There was definitely some corruption there. Thanks for uploading Jim!

That 911 operator had me so mad. 🤬

Ashlee Turner

"*CPR noises intensifies*" Oh jesus, i really hope it's CPR noises.

go jim go!

OMG SAME 😂😂😂😂

I always go back to my depression after the vid is over. Thank you for covering Rebeka Zahau (sp?). There is no way in hell a woman would ever in a million years hang herself NAKED. I’m not saying the bro in-law did it, but someone DID.

If youre so sure it’s suicide explain the note

The last one was kind of BS Jim .....that woman committed suicide.

works perfect for me

You make these lonely days better even if it's just for an hour. Missed ya Jimmy boy.

JIM, I HAVE ACCEPTED THIS AS PAYMENT !!!

Second case said she was found nude, was there evidence of rape as well?

Omg these guys are CREEPS! The second one was extra horrifying, like how on earth can that be ruled at suicide especially since she was raped? Ugh!!!!
