For anyone who’s binged JCS as much as me, it is very apparent the last boyfriend was innocent. Sad to see the how poorly the investigation was done. On paper he would look innocent and his interrogation is exactly that of an innocent person. The only thing incriminating him was the fingerprint which he himself disproved. They could have done an autopsy on the body to see what the time of death was and check his alibi, thus proving he was not there at the time of death. Obviously the condom was damning evidence as well. I’m glad to see he’s not in jail.

Im in the minority on Caryn, but i believe she’s innocent. Both of them were very drunk, likely messing around in bed after a night out they hear a noise down so he goes and checks she drunkly/stupidly thinks she’ll need her gun from the nightstand he comes back sees the gun, probably laughs at her overreaction and jokingly/drunkenly teases “you gonna shoot me?” she probably laughs at her eased tension and his joke as he gets in bed, she may pretend fires the gun a couple times to continue the teasing. then either he continues the joke by pretending to shoot himself like she said, or one of her pretend shots goes off close range. its not clear who pulled the trigger which is why she’s not guilty, also no motive like life insurance either was mentioned. i also genuinely believe her emotion in the interrogation. if youve ever been that drunk you know it takes more than 7 hrs to fully sober up from that, she’s likely very buzzed still and probably an emotional drunk/emotional about the situation itself as its the first time she is semi-soberly processing everything.

Yes, she admitted she killed him but none of her stories were she intended to kill him or maliciously intended to kill him.

During questioning, the Det. asked if the kid was 'sick, acting odd, etc' after they theorized when and how the Fentanyl was administered/drank by poor wee girl. I have somewhat of a background education in Forensic Pathology (The stage found me, and it is still an active passion from a non-laboratory setting as far as income goes), and I also know that the child would --if she hadn't done opiates before, I'm assuming--would have been violently ill as soon as ingested, it may have only been once--and yeah, depending on the food amount in her stoma, her body would have tried to orally void the drug. When she sits there closing her arms, defensive as you can get, stupidly doesn't realize that medical examination of the 'departed' would have had typical corporeal reactions to that amount of poisoning. It literally looks like there is many more 'parents' deciding that they would have been better off not producing a child, and many internet forums dedicated to those that have the same desperate ideas. Since we 'realistically' no longer have a viable threat for the death penalty, (love the excuses...not enough humane ways to do it since lethal injection has been put on hold...smh) We have these terrible wastes of skin to keep implying that yes, we do need to bring the threat of a nasty death back....afterall, when people used to have to see it, watching criminals void their systems when being hung, was indeed a deterrent. Now? Jail is not so bad, it seems, 3 meals, a roof over your head, and on-site medical treatment, all whilst getting drunk on toilet wine, and using art supplies for make-up in Woman's jail. We simply do not impose enough fear for crossing The Rule of Law, which...for most folks seems an alright way to live, and under suitable conditions, remain a good human in daily interaction with others. There is a special place in prison for Mothers that commit this crime, I hope she got it. (long post, but I missed a few months, so I am catching up on it.)

Agreed, he was kept in prison for 18 months until trial, but what's the fix? I can think about being the "victim" in this case and I'd be really really really pissed if I were him and stuck in prison for a year and a half of my life even though I didn't do it. But on the other hand, what if I did? Would it then be not a thought to have me housed for 18mo because of the guilt? This is where I think the imperfection of any system starts to bleed through. So many people use the imperfection of our current system to deny the purity of justice of the death penalty because they are scared to death that a mistake may have been made. What they never seem to understand is that imperfection is a silly and meaningless reason, especially to deny justice to families, victims, and society as a whole. At least that's my opinion. There is no good answer, only the best we can do, whether it be the necessary jail time until trial or the necessary death penalty to bring justice to the victim and society. There will never be a perfect system, so it is a fool's opinion that the system has to be perfect before we do (insert platitude). It will never happen. No need to make the system even more imperfect by your indecision and lack of spinal reinforcement lol.

That baby-mama's talking about her 7 month old daughter, as she was able to move around. When a baby is 7-8 years old, they may crawl around the floor, perhaps try to stand up and bounce. I’ve seen full videos of the mother and daughter who kill their family and the narrator is wrong. The daughter had a detailed diary that incriminated the hell out of her. She basically wrote down the date and notes like - I’ll be kinda sad when Sarah dies, but it needs to be done blah blah evil...so saying other than her confession the prosecution would have nothing is inaccurate because she’d definitely still go down and no way from diary could she claim the elements needed for insanity.

She was a mess, as was I, because I babysat him all the time. They had to put her on suicide watch. Her and I were in the Air Force at the time. I’ll never forget when she told me she wanted to have a baby again with her son’s father, hoping she could have another Kyle 😢 she had been divorced from Kyle’s dad for over a year before he died. I think it has less to do with the gender of the victim than the fact that the criminal justice system in Great Britain is much more lenient, generally speaking, than that of the U.S. For instance, the sentence for first-degree murder in the U.S. federal courts is life in prison without parole or death. A few random thoughts: 1. $1 is a steal for such high quality content 2. The narrator is FANTASTIC and deserves more praise. He nails the complex subject matter without it becoming dry, and injects just a SLIGHT amount of inflection and emotion in appropriate places. Awesome work. 3. Watching the trainee detective in the first case was really interesting. You could see him stumble in a few places but overall I thought he did a great job. With a bit more confidence, he will make an excellent investigator. 4. The second detective was EXTREMELY GOOD at his job. That was a brilliantly handled interview. He got the suspect right where he wanted him in a very short amount of time.

Baby Mama #1 is a sociopath. She's assuming the police are idiots and that she can manipulate them by controlling the argument and herself. She learned to manipulate those around her passive-aggressively, to stay quiet, listen and out-think. Maybe in her family she WAS the smartest person. I find it interesting that , unlike Diane Downs or Susan Smith, she didn't kill the child to move on with an romance. Kudos to the victim being very brave, to report the sex to law enforcement. It wasn't that long ago when the police learning of male sex would simply have arrested both men for lewd acts. Both men learned a lesson and the sentencing ended up being somewhat appropriate considering that ultimately no harm was done. I'd love to prosecute every man who lies about his marital status before engaging in sex that leaves a woman pregnant and wanting an abortion,. That's a horrible place to be, and it ends lives. The third one is a monster. I had a man remove a condom inappropriately and impregnate me when I was 16. Back then we didn't prosecute non-violent consensual sex, not always even non-violent NON-consensual sex., even when one party was 16 and the other 20. To have that many victims and then to taunt them? Monster! Hope he does every day of his twelve years. LOL my daughter stuck her head out of her bedroom to see what was going on after hearing me exclaim rather loudly "what?! no!" when it was revealed that the first HIV+ man was sentenced to 25 years, especially when he had insisted on using a condom despite the other guy not wanting to. He was very lucky to have his case revisited and his sentence reduced to reflect those extenuating circumstances. Still, he's now a registered sex offender, which would be a heavy burden for him to carry around for the rest of his life (I assume it could effect employment options, travel, where he can reside and so on). As for the second man, what a piece of shit, and how cruel to taunt his victims afterwards. Now his sentence was well deserved.

It's 3:30 in the morning and that last one is currently haunting me. Jesus.

HIV criminalization is problematic especially when we have evidence provided by CDC that when a person is undetectable (virally suppressed) the virus cannot be transmitted. By making it a crime to basically have sex, it further stigmatizes the virus leading to further secrecy and more possible transmissions because it is soo taboo to discuss and get tested for.
