Maybe some of them are participants, either directly or indirectly. What's also amazing is how often police don't look into things and sometimes later on it's revealed or strongly evident that some of them are involved in whatever it was they weren't setting as a priority (and which should have been a high priority), or their other cop buddies were and they kept quiet about it. Cops looking after other cops who are doing illegal things wasn't some isolated phenomena in Serpico's time and place and it's still very wide spread to this day. They can actually be quite open about it too and kind of laugh it off because in the overwhelming majority of cases they will get away with it and they know that. I've seen it first hand. All they need to do is keep up appearances and keep feeding into the hero image that the public has bestowed upon them. They always go on and on about the law applying to everyone...except for their cop buddies and family members of course. Or maybe the law does apply, but so do lighter sentences, when if anything it should be the other way around because not only do they know the law better but they were supposed to be the custodians of it.

Unfortunately in America, most of these stings actually “prevent” the police from doing anything...or so they say. It’s really unfortunate. We have an amazing girl down here in jax fl, Dani who does some great work and our police JSO almost never does anything. I’m so thankful for her as I have five children and I’m diligent at keeping an eye on them on devices but predators are just that, they can always find prey, even in the most diligent household.

Here's goes one: There was a man (+60 yo) from my town who adopted a dog from another state. Two minutes after receiving her, somehow, somewhat, she ran away. I made copies of missing banners and gave them to him so he could find the dog, but at the same time, I knew something wasn't right. I knew this man was full of shit. One week gone by and no banners could be seen anywhere. I investigated him a bit further, and discovered he had a son of the age of 13, suffering from down syndrome. The son was taken from him time ago, and he was fighting to get him back. The reason? He was caught on bed with his own son by his caseworker (she had the keys to the social property). That's when I created a fake profile of a little girl about the age of his son. Added him on Facebook. I didn't even had to elaborate anything, he was requesting to turn my cam on at the first 'hello'. We exchanged nude pictures (mines were from PornHub), chatted a bit and ended up setting up a meeting 2 days after, on the weekend. My idea was to go there and, actually, blackmail him for money. Then I remember thinking, 'if I do this, then no one will know and he may get his son back, YOU HAVE to do something'. So I changed my mind, put all the evidence in a USB and went straight to the police.

@Ben It's possible that the pedophiles that willingly volunteered for castration were more aware of the severity of their actions to begin with and were less likely to reoffend, castration or not. I also wonder how much of pedophilia is about the sexual desire vs the controll they have over the victims, because if it's not so much the former then castration may not really help at all.

Like someone else said, you can be empathetic but not sympathetic because this was a conscious choice to do this with a 13 year old. He doesn’t seem predatory, he just jumped on the first person who showed him attention but at 23 it’s your responsibility to say “this is wrong”. He doesn’t seem the type to groom a 13 year old family member or family friend. had the person on the other end been 23 I’d guess (and hope) he’d likely chosen that.

There's obviously something dangerous about having an attraction to children because that can lead to a child being sexually abused. Being afraid of coming out with something like that is one thing, but to think that the logical step is to hide it until you have to do it and not to find a psychologist instead. How can you be more afraid of what people will think of you rather than if you will actually do it? If your self preservation goes over that of a child you are dangerous.

I'm of the opinion that there is nothing dangerous with having an attraction to children as we cannot control who or what we are attracted to, but there is something very wrong with acting on one's attraction to children. The potential to cause harm is not the same as causing harm. When we stigmatize pedophilia, that causes pedophiles to suppress their thoughts and keep their true thoughts hidden from the public. Pedophiles (those who are attracted to children) are not dangerous to society, but pederasts (adults who actually engage in sex acts with children) are, and should be punished. If we can end the stigma surrounding Pedophilia, this will allow those who have it to come out with it, and then they can more easily seek the help and support they need to keep from becoming a Pederast. But suppressing it for fear of being chastised and vilified by society will only compel them to suppress and hide it, which will only cause pedophile like thoughts to grow, which often leads to stronger urges/desires to actually pursue a sexual encounter with a minor.

Not all the way sure if its primarily related to childhood trauma or sexual abuse themselves, but these individuals are definitely sick (not sick and twisted), but have been isolated their whole lives and need help. I saw a doco recently on Sixty Minutes Australia where they interview a bunch of pedophiles who were convicted, released and live in a community with each other, its a head scratcher for sure. On one hand I feel sorry that these men suffer from this obsession with sexualising children and that they cannot help it, but on the other hand it is so immoral and just sickening to think about. It is a form of sexual addition because it has casued these men to think within the realm of insanity - that they truly believe that they will never be caught, or that thought doesnt even enter their minds because they are so focused on the sex act and the ritualization or fantasy that leads up to meetin the minor where nothing else matters. I'm a sex addict myself and know what this obsession and focused obsessed thinking feels like and my actions and behaviour have damaged many relationships in my life. I would often times act on these behaviours even having knowledge of the concequences because grasping the "high" was the most important thing. At the end of the day though, regardless of where these men are mentally, they have crossed a serious line by attempting to engage in sexual acts with minors and that does require much more than just therapy but time served.

You shouldn't feel ashamed when people literally prey on children for their sexual naïveté so that they can have the upper hand. Once I told my dad how I was friends with my PE coach in 5th grade and that he would always talk to me and play football with me and my dad was like "did he touch you?!!" and I was so shocked that he would even say that cuz as a kid you'd never even fathom something so vile. But that also has adverse affects because it makes YOU feel like you did something wrong when they react like that.

It's really only a matter of luck that we aren't all pedos ourselves. These folks have mental problems that aren't their fault, so they're actually quite unfortunate that their biology, environment, and life experiences culminated in who they are. Not a single one of these people are happy or relieved they were caught. Their lives are being ruined by things beyond their control, and that is simply very easy to empathize with.

There’s not really a comparison here to be made at all, but both the desensitization of young men to normal sex and the sexualization of young girls by entertainment do result in ruining millions of lives.

We try to be hard when dealing with the predators among us. We think that if we can seem as cold or predatory as they are then we can somehow spook and shoo away the darkness they bring. It's okay to feel even for those who do not, to take pity on those who would not show it for others. I felt for Bundy in his last pre-execution interview, the way I would for a wild predator caught in a trap about to be put down. He didn't have that same feeling for his victims, but I don't have to let that define how *I* feel. I also don't have to let my feelings get in the way of the administration of the law. As was pointed out in "The Hateful Eight," mob justice is thirst-quenching and I see people clamoring all the time to do the craziest shit to pedos on a free pass. I get the emotions behind it but I wonder if exacting such "justice" would make me a better, superior human or if it would deter another predator or if it would prevent the darkness from claiming one more person's life or innocence.

I’m trying to figure out why I am embarrassed for these predators?? I feel sympathetic for some reason. It’s interesting to have the fight and flight explanation explained along with the freeze. I had never heard that explained in psychological terms before in regards to freeze. It made me think back to a very traumatic experience I had in my childhood that caused me to essentially have the feeling of being paralyzed and what felt like my feet being glued to the floor.

While you're correct about them being unable to control their sexual preferences I wouldn't say they are screwed or that society can only hope they don't act. There are medications that can suppress libido when combined with cognitive therapies that attempt to control the actual deviant behaviour (rather than try and change someones sexual orientation) have the potential to stop these individuals acting on their urges. Plus there are some charities that work alongside probation services in an attempt to give low level sex offenders (or those who have urges but have not yet committed an offence) more meaning in their life via work and social interaction , meaning there is more at stake if they do commit an offence. Obviously these organisations work inline with police and probation to ensure that if any breaches of licence are made they are immediately remanded back into custody.

Generally, females don't practice full penetration using their sexual organs. They may film them trying to do sexual things they were taught to do and females may attempt to penetrate using "toys' and things. It's all about the urge to victimize and have power over a child and humiliate them in a permanent way. A female castration would probably work less than a male one.

These pedophiles sexual preference is for minors/children. The same way mine is for adult women. I don’t think they choose their urges. One young man that appeared in this video happened to be a close personal friend of mine. I couldn't tell you at what age his problems began but the incident happened immediately prior to the ending of an abusive relationship he was a victim of. The story exploded all over the french media recently, but what I'm gathering from this is that in their deepest, truest psyche, pedophiles have the most aggressive impulses and have no regard for the victim's person. They are reduced to their physical representation and their naivety, so they may be manipulated to consent for that which they could not possibly understand or consent to. The aggression that the french literary author described in his sexual acts with children I think is similar to indulgence in something forbidden. The fact it's seen as horrible and vile makes the act of sexually assaulting a youth even more desirable to them, because they "can't help themselves". There's no doubt all sorts of psychological issues permeating pedophiles, but the predators like the ones we see in these videos are seemingly devoid of sociopathy or psychopathy for the most part, in my estimation. They're men who have an urge to do the most despicable acts and they know these acts to be despicable, yet they feel like they can't resist wanting to do them or to see them done to children. It's addictive behavior, in short, that increases over time, in the dosage required to be sated. I'm not saying any and all pedophile will assault a child, but the "predators" are most likely the ones who will and possibly even kill their victims. I saw a short documentary on youtube recently about a man who was seeking help as he knew abusing his step son was wrong. I think most people know it's wrong, that's why they choose to hide it. Read up on the "To Catch a Predator" cases. Many of the men had their charges dropped/dismissed because it was deemed entrapment, and/or it was an adult posing as a child and because there never was a child involved no actual crime had taken place.

If it is so common, people wouldn't drive across 3 states for several hours to meet a supposed child. They would find one closer if it was commonplace. They cannot find one closer because it is actually very rare and the vast majority of the "kids" who agree to meet an adult for carnal relations are actually adults posing as children. Many of the men caught doing this have their cases dismissed because there never was a child in danger or being propositioned or shown nude images, it was an adult the whole time, thus no actual crime took place.

It is FAR less common than it was in the past. It is still rampant in some parts of the world like India and the middle east, but it is not worse or even as bad as it was. It is far less common today. Increased awareness does not equal increased occurrence.

I think when entrapment is involved (which is actually extremely rare), the case doesn't make it to court for the defense to be used. I only say that because I had a friend, around 17 years ago, get into a situation where he was deceived into taking possession of a bunch of marijuana by a dude who had been busted and turned on him by working with the cops to set it up. The busted dude's girlfriend swore a statement that her boyfriend had told her how he was planning to catch my friend in what was literally described as a trap, and the prosecutors dropped the case. Those are the only details I can attest to, so who knows.

Entrapment is little more than an urban legend. While it does exist as a legal concept in law books, it's never been used successfully by a defendant that I'm aware of. There is a related popular belief that an undercover cop must tell a person they are a cop if questioned directly. I personally think this is an urban legend that law enforcement actually promoted back in the early days of the War on Drugs as a misinformation campaign to give drug criminals a false sense of security.

Danni, I agree with you on both points. I felt bad for that guy, too. And there ARE a lot of men doing this. Anyone who has ever spent time online as a young girl knows this. I spent a lot of time as a kid in various chat rooms because I had no friends. SO. MANY. MEN. messaged me. Not just from lurking children’s chat rooms where they went specifically to prey on children, but SOOOO many from regular all-ages or random hobbyist chat rooms, places where you wouldn’t expect 3-5 out of only 28 people chatting about a specific subject to proposition a 12 year old for cyber sex... but they consistently did. Multiple times, Every. Single. Day. I remember at least two cops (that I know of) messaged me, too. One from Maine actually became obsessed with me, and drove through multiple states to try to convince (then threaten) me into coming to meet him. He had started saying REALLY disturbing stuff, and I’d quit talking to him. Then he just showed up one day like MONTHS after I’d last spoken to him, said he was here in town and wanted to see me. He found me just from my name (this was before people’s private info was all over the Internet. I’m convinced it was through his job that he found my address). I was terrified, and I can’t believe how long I spent blaming myself because I chatted with him (about mundane things, at least at first) and let myself be groomed by him. I was a freaking child. It scares me now to think how I could be that gullible, even as a very intelligent and fairly mature girl who had a lot of hard life experience already at that age. And how I had no idea how wrong it was to talk to “older guys”. That’s exactly why the onus isn’t on the kid to make the right decision. It wasn’t creepy to me as a 12, 13, 14 year old when 28 year olds showered me with attention, it was (I thought) flattering, and made me feel mature and special. It’s all terrifying... and it’s definitely really happening. I think people would be surprised at other human’s deep, dark thoughts.

I felt kind of sorry for the 23 year old guy that had never had a girlfriend, never had sex. I found it interesting though that he said he tried to stop and eventually went back to it and that he thought he could do it on his own. This is exactly why there needs to be resources for peadophiles to get help in a safe environment. All those actions were of the perpetrator (he needs to feel all of the shame and guilt, I highly doubt he does though), not you the victim, the child. It’s hard to remember that you were just a child and that means you were not responsible for his actions, only he was. You are only responsible for your actions and how you handle yourself now, as an adult, not yourself in that situation then, while you were assaulted, by a grown ass person...I feel for you, I am a survivor of abuse from family and a person entrusted with power (yes, two separate occasions, two separate time periods, I’m just now getting stronger and healthy enough to feel human, I’m way past adult too. When I was 14, in ‘94 before the internet, me and my 3 best friends would hangout at 34 year old man’s house. He bought us alcohol and, in time, we each engaged in sex with this man. I look at my kids and I cannot even wrap my brain around how a adult would even want to hangout with teens. I wish I would have told someone but I thought I must be really cool if an adult liked me. He went on to go to prison for rape. I guess someone finally told an adult. I still feel guilty about that. About not telling someone when it was happening.

Even if it's just a bunch of pedos, your interjections add a lot to the series of clips showing these pricks getting their last chance to victimize another poor child. If I was taking part in setting these guys up I believe there would be some interactions that would make me want to put hands on them and I don't mean for tickles. I never get into any kind of adult topics with them. I try to be a role model for them. I don't even talk about such things with anybody really. I think it's perfectly okay to befriend anybody, no matter their age, but you have to keep things appropriate. People like the ones in the video make people like me, who aren't afraid of being friends with kids, look suspicious. You even speak to a child in public these days and someone might call the cops. It's crazy.
