Hi Scott. I started playing guitar at the age of 12, had a couple of teachers, but mostly only learned to read tabs and play songs, with no theory at all. I dropped it, when I was about 18, with no real progress. I'm 31 years old now and have been trying to pick it up again, but really struggling on deciding where to start, and what materials should I study. I think you answer that with your structured course. Really thrilled to start and see some progress! I'm from El Salvador btw!

2022-07-04 03:37:04 +0000 UTCHello. I learned to play in college but hit a wall, stopped improving and eventually stopped practicing. Since then I just occasionally pick it up to strum and noodle, or learn a song my girlfriend wants to hear and then forget it. However, a couple months ago she accidentally broke my acoustic and of course I had to replace it, and a new guitar screams to be picked up. I find myself practicing again and the caged lesson has given me a roadmap for improvement that I feel is achievable. Pretty excited about it because I've always been frustrated by my inability to make the pentatonic sound as good as it should.

2022-07-02 16:22:05 +0000 UTCHi, I have been trying to play the guitar on and off for years. Never had any private lessons, just relied on books in my earlier years and now internet. I came across Scott's youtube channel pre Covid and his method of teaching really helped me understand theory more. I know and can play open chords reasonably but barre chords are another matter. I have a basic understanding of theory from Scott's free lessons so here I am determined this time. See you around.

2022-07-02 15:36:59 +0000 UTCHi! I'm a self taught on and off guitarplayer since my teenage years and I must say I havent progressed much until recently when I decided to learn how to solo and wanted to learn music theory. I subscribed yesterday. saw your videos on youtube and it made me understand the caged system and the pentatonic scales much easier. I figured being a patron would be really worth it.

2022-07-02 12:32:46 +0000 UTCWelcome! So happy to hear that someone is working on the Rubik's cube series. Are you having fun?

2022-06-30 17:58:24 +0000 UTCHey everyone! I've been playing the guitar since the fifth grade, which is approximately 10 years ago. I'm currently working on the rubik's cube series. I've always loved guitar and the theory that goes behind it but I've definitely hit a wall for quite some time now. It definitely feels refreshing to watch Scott's video and have them packaged the way that they are.

2022-06-30 10:00:21 +0000 UTCHello everyone! I picked up the guitar in Nov 2020, which was probably the best I got out of the pandemic and lockdowns. I have progressed a lot since then, but what I haven't studied at all yet are music theory and why certain things happen when you play. Your videos are great, can't wait to watch them all.

2022-06-29 15:04:16 +0000 UTCHello everyone! I’ve been playing guitar for many years and have never sat down to learn theory. Everything I’ve learned has been trial and error and finding the notes that fit. I just got a sweet looper pedal and was fooling around soloing on a simple G progression. The G major scale as I know it (and you taught it in your first lesson) didn’t work. I wanted to know why. So, here I am. :). Good to be here. You are a great teacher. Love your style. 👍👍👍

2022-06-29 01:30:01 +0000 UTCI'm still fairly new and been working my way through the lesson plan. Might have to start looking at some of the challenges and cherry picking some I might be able to do :-) Might be worth getting the following 'chat' bumped up again :-) https://community.scottpauljohnson.com/t/who-are-you-and-what-are-you-looking-to-learn-introductions/30/109

2022-06-28 23:25:38 +0000 UTCWelcome everyone! I’m currently working on continuing CAGED Basics II, and I’ve got a lesson coming out about how to find unison notes so you can figure out easier ways to play things around the fingerboard. What are you working on? Don't be shy! We're all nice people here.
