Music Theory for Guitar | 06: Minor Triads | Homework No. 1

New here? Wondering where to start? Click here

Hi Everyone!

Here is the first homework lesson for the Minor Triads lesson. In this lesson, I walk you through a homework exercise that is eerily similar to the Major Triads homework. We write out every Minor Scale and build a Minor Triad from each one. Then we go to the fingerboard and talk about different ways to map out minor triads in interesting and sometimes weird and  complicated shapes. This homework will help you prepare for future lessons.

When you're done with this homework, check out the Minor Triads Homework 2.

Visit the community post for this lesson to upload audio, pictures, or get involved in the community.

Have a question? Ask on the weekly live Q&A, called Office Hours. Also, check out Practice Thoughts if you need help figuring out how to practice.

Other lessons in this series:

- Minor Triads lesson

- Homework 2

- Practice 1

- Practice 2

- Practice 3

I apologize if this is kind of a silly question--but in regard to the very end of the video, when asked to find different voicings, I'm a bit confused because I thought we had already mapped them out extensively. Just trying to understand how to go about it correctly. Thank you.

Quick questione not entirely related to course content. Which ( hopefully free) programs are people using to edit Scott's pdfs to make triads yourself ? I hope the question is clear enough ahah thanx in advance

Luca

oh yes! I cover them quickly in Music Theory Monday series, but eventually my Music Theory for Guitar series will cover 7th chords in more detail as well.

This stuff is super helpful and is really helping me decode some of the previous guitar knowledge I had that was just based on memorization! Are there plans to cover 7th chords as well by any chance Scott?
