Mashu progress + ear tutorial & more!

I posted my progress on social media a few days ago, and now I finally sat down and stitched together my Patreon only pictures! I have the rest of this week to finish the costume, and I'll be shooting on Sunday (most likely). I'll be posting more progress photos on here throughout the week! I'll also take a mini video of the mini-studio set up for my Fluffy buns+ ^o^ So excited! Hopefully this write-up will be helpful to some of you, and if you're not a cosplayer, hopefully it's at least a wee bit interesting haha

RIBBONS! I had to make 6 of these babies. I actually ended up making them a little too big, but I think it's ok! They're pretty cute like that, still.

1) I got the thin gold trim from Joanns. It's actually in the ribbon section! My ribbon pattern isn't anything fancy. Just squares, and I marked where I wanted the trim to go with a pen to make things easier.

2) Pinch your ribbon! You can tack it down like this, but I usually don't. The smaller strip that goes around it is enough for me.

EARS! I bought this fur downtown~ I got pretty lucky. P.s. fur sucks and makes a huge mess lol. This is my new favorite of way of making ears. I took a lot of inspiration and concepts from random tutorials on the internet and kind of mashed them together into this method.

1) My patterns! Fur, fleece, and worbla. You can also use EVA foam, but I have a lot of extra worbla and scraps lying around. It helps keep a stiff shape so I prefer it over foam. Make sure you cut the fur a little bigger (~1cm) than the rest of your pattern, as you will be folding it over.

2) Ears formed with my heat gun!

3) Glue the fleece down first, then glue the fur on the back. Fold the excess over onto the fleece. The fur hides the rough edge, but you can also curl it inwards.

4) This photo is similar to the 3rd-- just showing you the back!

5) Trim the fur! This may not be necessary for all costumes, but Mashu's ears aren't super super furry compared to the rest of the outfit, so I trimmed them. I just used plain old fabric scissors. You can see quite a difference when they're next to each other!

Progress photo + boobie cups.

Not really a tutorial here, but i just wanted to show you all another photo! I'll take better ones soon when I have more to show >w<. I cut apart an old bra to use as the base for my furry boobie cups! SAVE YOUR OLD BRAS! I used to throw them all away when they would get dingy or lose their shape, but I started saving all of them now. I sew them into costumes where you can't get away with a bra and it's super helpful! I didn't save the underwire here since Mashu has some underboob, but you can cut out the entire cup for other projects.

Sorry I'm not the best at tutorials! But this is good practice for me. I'm excited to show you all more photos! Back to the work cave for me~
