Weekly Update December 21st : The season finale !

 As basketcase Britain goes into free fall, it seems appropriate that we enter into the longest night of the year with a cosmological event that hasn’t been seen since the Middle Ages, 800 years ago! Tonight the two largest planets in our solar system; Jupiter and Saturn, will nearly overlap to form a double planet. This  is an exceptionally rare sighting called the Great Conjunction and feels suitably dramatic for the way events seem to be unfolding. The thing is though, I suspect that rather than any grand season finale, which however apocalyptic, at least might come with some sense of resolution, the slow descent of the UK will just drag on, incrementally getting worse until it has become too extreme to (easily) return from. MERRY CHRISTMAS y’all!

Nah, really not trying to be all doom and gloom about it. I’m actually sitting in my living room listening to carols, feeling (relatively) festive. I had planned to stay home for Christmas itself anyway although in January, I was looking forward to travelling to Ireland to see family as well as to work on some projects I have on there (which I cant wait to flipping share with you), for the first time in over a year,. I was hoping to stay for awhile to factor in two weeks of social isolation but it all looks a bit up in the air now with the latest developments so that’s a bit of a bummer. Where ever I am though I’ll be cracking on with WWPCDN. I got my edits back, all good!!! which I was of course delighted to hear but the manuscript was so over the word count that I still have a fair bit of tweaking to do…still though, almost there. Phew!

Hopefully brighter days are ahead. The Winter solstice represents the symbolic death and rebirth of the sun and I wish you all (as far as is possible this year) the best of the season, which hopefully can extend to spending time with loved ones, feasting, and song. (I’d love a bloody bonfire but dunno how feasible/legal that is in inner city London)
