Prushka was not intended to become a white whiste for Riko. She was intended to be primer that would enable Bondrewd to become a blessed hollow. Just like Mitty did for Nanachi. For that, you need a two-way, true connection to be happening, you cant just maliciously sacrifice someone that loves you one-way and call it a day. In other words, Bondrewd literally IS the best dad ever for her - because he also grooms himself to become one, and all for his perceived greater good of triggering a very specyfic situation, and so getting that blessing. Prushka bonding with Riko is incidental. If you look closely, one doesnt preclude another - Bondrewd does get a blessing (well, his current body does get it - untill he gets blasted into pieces by team Riko, that is, and it all goes to waste. But he does emerge from 6th as a furry), while Riko also gets Prushka in the form of the life-reverberating stone relic.

Absolutely. This happens again with Season 2 in my opinion which is great. Looking forward to your continued reactions. (Loved it all so far)

It's really cool how he manages to keep it fresh. Because the soundtrack sounds quite a bit different in the movie, but also very familiar.

I’m just starting your reaction but wanted to add that Kevin does indeed do all the music again (as with Season 2 as well) - apologies in advance if you mention later on! But the soundtracks for this show are probably my favourite in anime.

I love that both of those theories work so well. I feel like even with mine, Bondrewd could see how helping Lyza by providing materials to Riko could further his own goals. To me, that is part of the bigger picture. Lyza's whistle is a lock and Riko is the key making her way down to the bottom, together they are part of what unlocks the dawn of the next 2000 years. Either way, the fact that we can all speculate so much means Tsukushi is doing something right! Also, I want to add that this movie is where the manga really picks up. Assuming you have not also read the anime, season 2 builds on this in spectacular fashion. Can't wait to hear your thought as you continue down the abyss!

That is an INTERESTING theory. I actually heard other things from other people. That it was meant to be Bondrewd and that he has some emotions/love for people in his own twisted way. But that he accepted the outcome of Riko - Prushka because it will bring his quest forward either way. He is that kind of fanatic. Curses and Blessings, curses and blessings. But yea, what you are saying could also be the case.

You kept referring to Prushka as "sheltered" and while this is true, I prefer "isolated". Bondrewd specifically kept her away from any other children and created a child that was primed to bond with another young girl with an adventuresome spirit. My theory is that Prushka was intended to be Riko's whistle from day one. That Lyza asked Bondrwed to help acquire the materials for her child's white whistle as she was making her last dive, knowing that Riko was going to be coming down at a young age and likely wouldn't have a sacrifice available, if she even knew one was required.
