Perhaps it is the mare drinking yerba mate? (traditional argentinean drink. It's bitter, kinda like tea, but you drink it hot and instead of liquid it's more like a lot of herbs - yerba - wet inside a container -mate- and you suck the actual drink with a straw that filters the yerba. There now you know something more)
