Development Update 65

Hey guys,

I am pleased to report that the twins punishment system is up and running, with all the necessary positions and actions in place to get the twins up to level 2. That’s actually the bulk of the work, and as we go up through each of the levels things get progressively easier for me from there. Last week I posted the second batch of preview pictures which was almost exclusively from the twins' content. Those on the Teacher and above tiers will have seen some of the punishments the twins will be receiving, which includes some familiar favorites as well as some positions and actions we haven’t seen before. The animations for the twins are longer and more complicated than for the other girls and I think people are going to be impressed when they see them. Overall, I would say that the twins' content is at an advanced stage with most of the planned actions either made or set up in draft. I also have the vast majority of their dialogue written. Although, I will still need several more weeks to put their remaining scenes together.

I don’t plan to go change any of the twins' existing content as there is quite a lot of it and it crosses over with Claire’s storyline. Therefore, the twins' punishment system will remain locked until after the twins have punished Claire and we will pick things up from there. This means that the twins are a lot more accepting of the headmaster’s punishment techniques than they would be otherwise during their early levels.

Now, I said a little while back that my plan was to get the twins to this stage and then I would make a decision about whether or not to spend any time on the staff training storyline this update. The staff training and the twins' punishments are linked together via Claire. So, I really need to spend some time now making sure that the two storylines sync together and that one doesn't get too far ahead of the other. For example, it makes sense that Claire receives training in specific punishments before she uses them on the twins. So now would be the logical time to work on those scenes. 

I admit there is a high risk at this point that I am spreading myself too thin. I am already taking on a lot in this update with Faye (and Nina), plus the volleyball scenes. However, if I want to make significant progress with the twins I don’t think I have much choice. Hopefully it’s not too lengthy a detour and I can get back to the long list of content that I already had planned for this update. Things were getting hot and spicy with the staff training last time we left off, so I think this will probably be a good thing for the update overall. Once I’ve cleared that bottleneck, I plan to switch back to the twins' content (as theirs is the closest to completion), then I’ll get as much content done for Faye and Nina as I can manage in the time I have available. Hopefully we get to the point I have in mind for those two but only time will tell.

So, in summary, I’m over the hump with the twins' content with the bulk of their animations, renders, and writing done. I’ve still got plenty more work to do on their storyline before release (estimated to be sometime in the Fall). However, I am going to switch my focus now to the staff training storyline for a little bit. I will update you all with my progress again next month.

P.S. As I am sure a lot of people are wondering about it, I just want to quickly address the situation with Steam and Itch and their removal of a number of adult titles at the request of payment processors. Patreon went through this same thing several years ago so this is nothing new. The Headmaster was never on Steam so that doesn’t affect me at all. I do use itch to release the free version of the game. However, so far The Headmaster has not been removed from Itch and I have no particular reason to believe it will be. Even if we do get caught up in all of this, in terms of traffic and revenue, Itch doesn’t represent a significant proportion of my business. It’s a little concerning, but I am fairly confident that this will all blow over soon.
