Thought it would be fun to share my process when it comes to drawing in a specific style for today 💕
1) first I gather reference of the style I am trying to emulate, I’m this case it was the style of the art in the chulip game guide! I look at a looot of reference, the different shapes colors and design language being used! These also see, to be done traditionally so you can see both the texture of the paper and water based paint they’re using!
2) sketches! Taking into account all the common shapes and design choices they make for the characters and how unique and silly each character is I made some sketches for the taz boys! I still want it to feel like them while staying true to the wackiness of chulip!
3) used a rough inker that feels similar to a traditional inker! I also did some hatching and strokes similar to the style of the chulip guide!
4) so looking at the reference this is either guache or watercolor! So first I did a rough pass with a newsprint brush to get those little grainy textures you see in the ref. Then used both a water color brush and a guache brush in procreate! Those brushes really helped sell the style imo! Then I added some extra newsprint texture on top, making sure it felt a bit random and natural! I also added some color variation w an overlay layer and a rough paint brush cause I like the texture it adds :>
And that’s pretty much it! A lot of it is just studying and going back and forth between references fjfjfjf but I think it’s still fun to share the process for those of you who are curious ;w; yahoo!!!
