New WIP & Gouache Practice

I hope you're well. It's super snowy here today, so I'm constrantly getting distracted looking out the window.
I wanted to share a couple of things with you that I've been working on. Above, you can see a digital painting in the making. I don't know exactly what the story is yet, but I wanted something that felt airy and flooded by light, as a counterpart to this piece:
This time around, I started by blocking in the shadows, rather than going for colour right away, because I knew that the light spots were going to be almost white anyway, and that most of the palette was going to be determined by the shadow colours.
Also, I've been taking Justin Donaldson's Gouache Course, and doing the homework assignments for it. I'm really enjoying the class and the medium and I think it's the closest I can get to the work I do digitally. I'm also getting more confident. Week 1 was about consistency and painting flat, opaque surfaces, and week 2 was about wet-to-dry and painting rocks. Week 2 was A LOT easier and more fun for me!
