Phantasma - Finished Illustration

I hope you're having a nice weekend.
I've been working on this piece non-stop over the last few days and I thought it was either going to be one of my favourites or I was going to hate it. Buuut I'm happy to report that I really, really like the result.
I actually went back a few years to some colour explorations/studies I did when I just started getting into environments (these). I was a bit more experimental in my colour choices and I wanted to bring that back into my work. And since the world in Phantasma is pretty magical I thought it would be quite fitting to not try and make everything completely realictic. I like the idea of adding a magical glow to the forest and just be a bit more free with my choices for colour and light. The inspiration is a bit like Kazuo Oga meets Amei Zhao - two of my absolute favourite artists.

2020-12-20 20:27:38 +0000 UTCI like it! The colors, the dynamic, all great! Also love the owl. But I'm confused. She's jumping over water, right? I mean that's OK, she obviously can do that. But shouldn't there be ripples in the water? Or am I misunderstanding the picture?
