New illustration feat. a dog!

Hey friends!

This is actually not going to stay in a square format. It’s a little wider than that so that it’ll be a nice print.

Anyway, I originally set out to draw a simple scene. Well, this is what it turned into... So I may have failed my mission to keep it simple (as always), but nevertheless, I’m very happy with it. I’m going to colour it with light, fresh tones in anticipation of spring. Around this time of the year I get very tired and grumpy because I just can’t wait for more light and warmth. Spring is always to nice and revitalising. Everything suddenly shines in a new light and I love it!

I think drawing seemingly mundane scenes has become my favourite thing. There’s just something so nice and effortless about the way you can tell little stories that way.

What else can I say? Oh, right! The little dog on the girl’s shirt is modelled after a thing we bought in Japan: a “hook” thingie to hang sponges on. I thought it was a fun little easter egg to include.

Shiba inus are just the cutest. 💛

I hope you like the artwork so far! And let me know if you have a suggestion for a title. I put all my energy into the drawing and then my brain is too tapped out to come up with a name.
