Hello my friends,
I just did a study to develop my watercolour skills and to find a style that I like. It’s a copy from one of the background paintings in Only Yesterday (1991, Studio Ghibli, directed by Isao Takahata). And I figured since it’s not really mine, I can’t take credit for it or sell it. But nobody‘s stopping me from giving this to one of you as a gift!
So at the beginning of next month, I‘m going to randomly pick a patron and send it to them. 🌱
Also, do you know how many times I‘ve talked about working in watercolours? I feel like last year, every month I announced that I was going to do more traditional paintings from now on. And I never did. But who knows, maaaaybe now is the time. I really do enjoy this style that has lots of light and incorporates the white of the paper in a meaningful way. I never enjoyed going too dark with watercolours and I guess that’s what has always kept me from using them. But I‘ve had so much fun with this study! I want my traditional paintings to feel light and like a breath of fresh air. So I guess that means that they will look quite different from my digital work. But I‘m ok with that. What do you think?
