How do you feel about the new fee structure?

There has been a lot of buzz about this issue today and I feel like it's my responsibility to address it. Patreon sent out an email to all creators with the headline "Creators now take home exactly 95%"
The key point was this:
A new service fee of 2.9% + $0.35 will be paid by patrons for each individual pledge starting on December 18th. This streamlines fees for both creators and patrons to ensure that you pay no more than 5%.
In other words: You pay more and I get to keep more. But for $1 pledges, this means that you almost pay twice as much as you signed up for.
(EDIT: It's actually not twice as much, it's $1.38 to be exact. I was exaggerating.)
How do you feel about this?

I haven thought about it. It's just a difficult task to move over from one platform to another. My patreon page is just starting to pick up now, and then the changes hit. I don't know if Drip can do the same thing for me as Patreon. Having both doesn't seem like a good idea because it puts you in a weird position when you're promoting. I like having a single store and a single crowdfunding platform so that people know exactly where they can go to support me. I'll have to do more thinking on the subject of possibly moving, but right now I'm leaning against it.

2017-12-10 12:43:56 +0000 UTCYes, giving us a choice would have made all the difference. I just read a long post by Amanda Palmer - one of the top creators here. And she got a notice one day before they announced the changes. It makes me wonder who they polled and consulted beforehand. o.O

2017-12-10 12:38:47 +0000 UTCI personally don't mind paying a bit more but have to echo the other comments here in that I think it's an ugly change on Patreon's behalf that'll hurt small creators. Would you consider moving to Drip once it launches?

2017-12-08 02:10:18 +0000 UTCI don't mind, really - but I can imagine you as a Patreon-artist would have liked to decide for yourself?
