From Death to Valhalla - Process

I'm working on a book cover for the indie author Randall Fitzgerald right now and I just got green light on the sketch. So I'm sharing the process with you so far.
For the most part, I've stopped taking most freelance jobs, but this one sounded really cool, so I didn't want to pass it up. :)
In the full view, you should be able to read my notes (at least those that aren't in German. Sorry about that). To understand the story, I had to look up a few things about Norse Mythology, because I don't know a whole lot about it. There are also character descriptions and a few ideas in there.
Then there are the two thumbnails and the detailed sketch for the one that got picked.
Next, I'm going to do the clean lineart and colour!
