I don't think that the Live Action thing is evidence and crocomom theory can die in a hole, but I do think that Crocodile gender was changed by Ivankov

2023-09-05 19:55:39 +0000 UTCActually, any theory can be portrayed as true or false through videos and edits, as you mentioned with Khan's video. If you want to see something there, you will see it. You know what I saw? I saw that woman appearing like many other people, and they wanted to showcase Shanks who was behind her. People might have looked at her, but the camera's focus was on Shanks. Regarding the video of the Shichibukai following him, they mentioned that Crocodile is no longer part of it, so it doesn't count. I'm absolutely certain that ODA didn't disclose anything to Netflix or the actors about what could happen in the story. So, I don't usually believe in theories, but I don't see a problem with people making them. However, it bothers me when people use a theory as an absolute truth. About the rest you mentioned, I'm not even getting into that. It's a fact that Netflix does this, and doing it in One Piece, I found it ridiculous because it's a story that's already been created. If they want to change things, they should create their own story. Besides those alterations you mentioned, Usopp i liked the guy no problem at all, but an example is making Buggy's second in command a woman, that's ridiculous because it changes the story.

2023-09-05 19:02:14 +0000 UTCI think what's different here is that this theory actually has fairly decent evidence to back it up, stuff that's been around for years and even comes from Oda directly other than the subtle hints in the narrative already so it's not like it has no basis in original creator material. I mean the video khan posted after this even further gives credence to it, something present in both the anime adaptation, filled with extended canon and filler, and the objectively canon manga. You're right it could be false and Ivankov is hinting at something else, but based on the fact there's legitimate backing with panels and frames and not just random theory crafting mumbo jumbo, this has more weight than some of the other definitive changes that deserve criticism. To blame everything on "Woke" execs and directors changing things is becoming a tired affair and I notice more and more people don't actually know what any of it means and are just parroting phrases they've heard on debate channels. Sometimes the outrage can be valid but other times I think it's just an excuse for people to feel justified and validated by their weirdly directed outrage that at times borderlines on being legitimately bigoted rather than fighting against restrictive "progressive" movements. Kuro's crew member Sham being gender swapped to a chick isn't that big of a deal, it's a character you never see after Syrup Village and them being male or female has no importance to the plot of that arc. Usopp was declared by Oda to be of African nationality if the series was set in the real world and lo and behold his LA actor represents that fact. Like are we really getting upset over that more than no Don Krieg, Hatchan missing, or weird Garp pacing? Jesus.

Mind you this would make sense as we were introduced to Ivans powers shortly before. Also at the execution of Roger, we see the Warlods faces, except for Crocodile - this theory has been going on ever since - well, more so in the manga community than the anime community tbh.

Secondly, people need to decide if the Live Action is an adaptation, which is not canon, or if you can take things from it. Because what I saw was Netflix being Netflix, changing the colors and genders of the characters, and so on.

2023-09-05 14:47:42 +0000 UTCIsn't it widely theorised that Crocodile was actually a chick who got hormone swapped by Ivankov, with hints at it being suggested to all the way back during Impel Down that Ivankov knew a secret of his? Also Oda dropping hints in a SBS in regards to gender swapped characters when he did Crocodile there was an addendum that Croc had a "weakness" in his past and that he owed a lot in return to something Ivankov gave him. Ofc we don't know yet but it could very well be Oda's influence in knowing the answer to that theory passing it onto the netflix creatives to create consistency if they get to that point in the story

This whole arc was about genderfluidity and Ivan had the hirmone power to change sex. He turned Scisor guy into man and woman and was celebrated by all for giving them the freedom of who they want to be. Another thing is in a Loguetown flashback we only see crocodile from behind obviously looking younger or more feminine. Oda once drew many characters as the opposite sex and one of them female crocodile has some resemblence to young crocodile in Loguetown. Now in Netflix it's close to assume they show the same characters in the crowd as in the manga/anime so maybe, juuuuuust maybe the one piece is real! I mean crocomum is real!

Ivankov said he knew a secret about crocodile that has yet to be revealed. However, that cannot be crocodile because that would be a massive spoiler not even in the manga.
