It seems that when students are looking to get a girl/boy - friend, they organise mixers. That makes parties look a bit compartmentalised, but it's better than nothing.

Young adults finding ways to have fun without alcohol? That's a brilliant idea! Do they sell this kind of attitude in bottles?
In my country, despite the usage of alcohol decreasing in recent years, it is very common to see especially university students having parties and events where they just sit around a table playing drinking games and such - pretty much the same things you described in the video. This is also visibly apparent the next day after the party, when loads of students are absent from class.
I have never tasted a drop of alcohol, and I intend to keep it that way. The only side effect of my policy is that it's rather difficult to form social bonds with other young adults, who incidentally love going to these parties while drinking as much as they can. Granted, there are other reasons for this as well, such as differing personalities and other such incompatibilities, but alcohol seems to be the biggest discrepancy.
While advertising these parties, the organizers always state that you don't have to drink alcohol and that they have non-alcoholic beverages available, but let's be honest; an overwhelming majority is going to drink alcohol. Would you want to be the only sober individual in the room? I wouldn't.
Which brings us finally to the video topic; Japanese youngsters not partying with alcohol. I find their behavior absolutely wonderful. I wish more people would be able to drop nonsensical drinking habits and gatherings. Why is alcohol such an integral part in young adults' life? It feels like they have nothing better to do, if they must empty their heads with booze. There's so much better stuff available to us - more than ever before in modern history! Why waste your youth by drinking it away?
Not to sound like I'm against alcohol or anything! I know there are responsible drinkers out there, and even though I choose not to drink, I can respect other peoples' life choices. I'm only against rash and whimsical decision making, which is probably what leads so many young adults to drinking alcohol.
This is one example where I think the rest of the world could and should learn from Japan's example. If Japanese youngsters can find ways to entertain themselves without alcohol, it should be possible elsewhere too. This video comes at a great time too, since I'm personally planning a stay in Japan. It would seem I will have no alcohol related worries, since young adults in Japan don't seem to drink as much. It's going to be interesting to see what my experience will be like.
