2022-01-17 23:29:47 +0000 UTCI remember one specific occasion in Japan where a Japanese man was trying to tell me that it was their pleasure to help me in words that I could understand with the absurdly elementary Japanese language skill I had. It came out as おおきもち. I've tried to figure out exactly why, but the guy next to him clearly thought that was one of the funniest things he had ever heard. So the Japanese certainly don't mind laughing at themselves when even their own Japanese is off.
