Pothos - Articulating Plant

STL Files Here

Watch Video Here

Another Articulating Plant! This one turned out really lifelike. Took me a couple dozen versions to get it right. I made it while surrounded by 3 real pothos plants to try and get it to look as realistic as possible. Put this in a hanging pot, and it will look awesome! Make sure to cover the base with dirt to get an even more realistic appearance.

If you sell 3D Prints, these plants are great for...

A. Showing off your Plant pots

B. Upselling people when they buy a plant pot

C. Selling disassembled as "Kits" so people can build their own plant!

Assembly: (Assemble in this order for more realistic looking plants)

1) Insert Base into pot

2) Insert a few stems into the base holes

3) Cover with Dirt, or something that resembles dirt

4) Gently Fold and crease leaves, and insert into branches

5) Snap a few Short Branches into the Stems

6) Snap Long Branches into the Short Branches, repeat as many times as you want

Customizable:

This is a very customizable print. You can print out as many segements as you want to make a very large or very small plant. I have also included a few leaf types if you want to get fancy with multicolor printing

If you want, you can sell smaller version by including less pieces, or large ones with more for a higher price. Or even sell them as kits so customer can assemble them themselves!

I think i figured it out... I think the problem was my filament. It must be practically transparent when this thin.

What layer height are you using? Also, some filament is much more translucent than others. But also, Pothos leaves let a lot of light through, so some translucency is actually more realistic. That’s why I made it the thickness it is. But if it’s really see-through you might be using too translucent of a filament

I feel like i must be missing something because everytime i print this the leaves are paper thin and basically translucent. Looking at the image above makes it seem like the leaves should reach almost 1mm of thickness.

Wow, this is such a sweet design! I am printing this on my Prusa MK4 with manual filament swaps for the patterned leaves as the MMU3 isn't ready for the MK4 printer yet. I am slicing this in Prusa Slicer, and to add the pattern to the leaves I just had to add the the leaf STL into my slicer and then right click on the leaf and select "Add part" to load in the pattern STL. I printed these at a .08 layer height and it's worked out REALLY well so far. I'm using Eryone Matte Black Forest Green PLA for the leaves and stems, and Duramic Marble PLA for the patterns on the leaves. I thought the marble color would be a little less bright white and more natural looking on the leaves - so far they are turning out great, I'm printing out plate after plate of them for my wife. Thanks for an awesome design!

Are you doing 0.08mm layers?

I'm having issues with the leaves not sliding into the short branches. No such issues with the long branch. I'm thinking it's cause of the unsuspended part. Would arachne help with this or should i try some supports? Any suggestions? Using a P1S btw.
