I wanted to show how crowny's detective points account for their trove of knowledge and how that's affected by their self worth.

HIGH DETECTIVE POINTS

You haven’t forgotten about what you think you saw. Imre stole those pages from Nia’s mom’s diary. You just haven’t had time to think about why, he can’t possibly know how to translate them? Could he? Imre is smart. You wouldn’t be surprised if he knew other languages. But this is a language unlike anything you’ve ever seen. You’ve been reading up on the Etruscans. They spoke a language that was something other than proto-Indo-European, which has been lost to time. 

if high worth

You’re smart too. For a long time, you didn’t believe it because your grades were abysmal and no one had ever exalted your intelligence as one of your defining features. But no, you are very smart. You look over at the A+ marked in red for your English paper. It's just hard work that you lacked. But you're going to make it to a good school.

You know your stuff, but you aren’t as smart as Imre. Not by a long shot. It sometimes feels embarrassing to try and engage with him in conversation about anything academic because you feel as if your tongue gets tied, and the words you use aren’t as eloquent as his. You would end up agreeing with his argument anyway. So what if you got an A+ on your last English paper? A fluke.

LOW DETECTIVE POINTS

Probably something nerdy. It always gives you a headache when you try to understand anything vaguely esoteric that he talks about. Well, you were never known for your brain, were you?

But who cares? Brains aren’t everything. It doesn’t even help to get into a good school or have a good job, that requires money. Also, which you do not have but that’s besides the point. You have other qualities. Like your [insert hobby here].

Another fucking thing that’s wrong with you. You’re not good at anything. Unremarkable in every single way, even Lorcan has skills, at least he has a job. What do you have but a series of failures and missed attempts? You sulk.
