I discuss Sabrina Carpenter's tone and use of diction, imagery, pun and metaphor in this track from Emails I Can't Send.

Emails I Can't Send Analysis- "Tornado Warnings"

Comments

Omg! I love that this is based on true events! Not her lying to her actual therapist 😭😭😭 I talk about the irony of this later in the video, but I love how the speaker takes on this tone of confession with us (the listeners). You're so right about the literal and metaphorical implications! A tornado warning is hard to ignore! Those things are loud! But sometimes we choose to ignore even the most blaring warnings, I suppose.

I’m only at the beginning of the video but I couldn’t resist to comment that Sabrina once said in an interview: This was based on a true story where I was in the middle of a park on a seesaw with someone that I shouldn’t have been with and then it started to hail. And then I got a tornado warning on my phone and ignored it. The next day I had therapy, and I completely did not tell my therapist anything because I was afraid that he was going to be mad at me. And I was like, “Why am I spending money on this therapy session if I’m gonna lie to you?” I love how literal and metaphorical it is simultaneously

I'm loving it so far! Her style is so fun and fresh, yet her tone is often so raw and vulnerable.

I've really enjoyed your analysis of this album it probably was my 3rd favorite of 2022 only behind Midnights and Stick Season by Noah Khan.
