"All Too Well" Short Film

I plan on doing a blind literary analysis/reaction of the "All Too Well" short film today. I already anticipate it getting blocked on YouTube, so either way I'll still upload my unedited reaction/analysis on here! Love you guys!

Exactly! They don't actually work through anything. Things are still very messy 😭😭😭

Yes! And in literature, mirrors are portals of spiritual truth. This works well with your point! The fact that she isn't even facing the mirror is significant for a couple of reasons. Like you said, it shows that she hasn't found herself yet. It also reflects the truth that she is unaware of. The truth is that she will be ok. Even though she is sitting in the dark, the mirror reveals that there is in fact light. She will be ok...she just doesn't know it yet. This is what I mean by the mirror acting as a portal. Also, I LOVE your observation about her older self looking directly in the mirror! Excellent point!

The mirror shot is one of my faves, but I think of it in regards to "I'd like to be my old self again, but I'm still trying to find it." There's that yawning emptiness between her and her reflection, and they're not even facing each other. Then Sadie's last part is Her walking away from that reflection of herself, and the next shot is Older Her, looking directly at herself in the mirror.

On your point about the washing dishes visual representation, note that she is the one washing the dishes, he just keeps piling them in front of her for her to clean. And then once the argument is "over" the dishes are still there, dirty, and she is literally looking in the other direction, pretending everything is okay, ignoring the mess.
