gouache scanned, doodle and soldering iron

I'm thinking of painting a same drawing over and over, so I can't get too attached to doing any one painting "justice"; I just want to get good at painting and mixing before trying anything that would be upsetting if it ends up a mess. No undo!!!
Then a random faux-layout drawing of a cowboy and his steed. Although I'm not as invested in the idea of a western cartoon now, I like the idea of swapping out horses for llamas; swapping out the feral horses that are rounded up with guanacos etc etc. Some potential for daft parallels and contrasts there.
The MIDI Thru socket wasn't working on the x0xb0x, so I had a go with the soldering iron, but it ended up being the socket itself was buggered. In the end Dad brought over some spare DIN plugs, and that did the trick. But I thought the initial set up of holding the soldering iron on a clip next to the animation desk was rather amusing as a photo.
