Anamorphic Rostrum shoot

Here's some experimental shots where I've been struggling to get my anamorphic setup to work on a copystand. For one thing the anamorphic lens doesn't naturally focus this close. So I've had to try swapping the taking lens, and muck about with various plus-dioptre spectacle lenses to see how in focus I could get the image.

Focussing this closely caused the anamorphic lens not to squash the image as much as I would have liked. If I were to do this again, I'd have to find a way of having both the anamorphic lens and the camera lens focussing far away together, then have a very powerful plus-dioptre lens bringing it to macro focus. Just an idea anyways. You can see how some of those images are less fat than others, that's because I've tried shooting zoomed in from far away (but that reduces the cylindrical distortion which I personally quite enjoy).

The result isn't as successful as I would've liked; the camera mount isn't even pointing perfectly down! But, at least I've given it a go, as well as painting acetate cels.

If I were to actually animate something with this setup, I'd have to make the rostrum absolutely solid, and the animation itself would have to be extremely limited. Could be nice for a title sequence.
