Dev log - July 16th, 2024

Hey guys, it's time for the last chapter five dev log. We're getting close-ish to release and things are looking good while testing. We're still about a week or so away from release and I want to apologize for how long this chapter is taking. As I've mentioned before, I've had a truck load of distractions over the past few months. I probably would have had this chapter done in early to mid June had I not had so many disruptions. There is some good news though. This will be the biggest update yet, with over 800 new renders and lots of naughty fun stuff. I'm really excited for everyone to play it finally.

So after this chapter I will release the little short story about a week later and then continue work on chapter six, which I've already completed some of since I work on scenes out of order a lot of times. I think I'm going to start releasing chapters in two parts. I think this will keep a better pace on releases and also help me project manage a little better in case of times when I have delays. I see a lot of other devs putting out content much more regularly which gives them exposure on the forums more often. It seems like I see some games show up under the new releases section every couple of weeks. I'm curious about how much content is there with such a quick turnaround though. I want players of my game to know that there will be a meaningful amount of content with every release. I figure with the two part releases, people can wait for the full chapter release if they choose in order to get the same amount of content they are used to, and those that want new content more regularly will have an option as well. Let me know in the comments, what you think about this.

Chapter six should see the first few proper animations retro-fitted into the earlier chapters. I have all the animations from chapter one complete, but I'm just working on making the file size smaller while maintaining decent quality. I think I'm almost there though. I've learned so much about animations this past few months. Eventually, the whole game will have nice smooth animations, which is something I've been wanting for a long time.

On the personal front, things are going a lot better. My Mom has been out of the hospital and is regaining her independence which is great for her and me since she doesn't need as much help now so things are definitely looking up all around in that regard. This will hopefully result in a lot more time to spend working on the game.

Anyway, I think that's everything for now. I'll be posting a few more things between now and release, but I hope you're all having a good week so far. Thanks again for all the support and for you're continued interest in the game. The future looks really good!

most games that are of similar quality only update every other month usually but those are the best of the best, some games update only 1-3 times a year and tho the quality is amazing the delays are agonizing

Taking time is crucial. Quality is important.

Brandon Nick

Wow, thanks for the compliment! And I appreciate the well wishes!

You just do you! don't worry about what the other devs are doing. This game is rivelling TACOS in quality both story wise and graphically in my opinion. Keep up the good work! And I'm so happy your mother is on the mend.

JSexton

Thanks Amolina, you'll see knee high socks in chapter five. We'll see about a schoolgirl uniform in a future update.

Bobbyboy Productions

Yeah you're probably right. I'm gonna think about it for a while and see what I decide.

Thanks Spidey, I appreciate it!

Good advice, thanks Ben.

It's times like these where I'm super jealous of anyone that'll play this game for the first time once it's completed. I'm so excited for the next update. But, don't rush to release it until you're 100% confident in the finished product. Goodluck on the rest of the development and congrats on your mom's health!

JAB really spells it out perfectly, you can't win but you will ruin the project long term if you try to hit short term targets. Some release 100 renders and hope everyone is happy, it usually just fails to move the story or scratch the itch. Try to keep it your way, you have to be proud of your own work. Delays are normal. Spend time with your mother, your'e going to spend long enough without her anyway, don't start now and regret it later.

Ben Hill

Hello Bobby I hope your mother is doing well, health before anything else. For the update part as long as you give us good content just enjoy whatever you do. I also want to see Kat wearing high school uniform with knee socks for whatever reason... I hope this comes true someday. Thank you!

amolina

I honestly don’t think there is much you can do to satisfy the impatient crowd and the quality crowd at same time. They are at odds with each other. Let the story unfold as you intend it. One day it will be a complete work of art and you want it to stand on its own as the very best it can be, unencumbered by short term sacrifices that would diminish the final product in the name of “hitting a schedule”. Don’t be swayed by the studios of other games, they have more resources, but usually less compelling stories.

JAB

Exactly. The two chapters have to be able to tell a short story on their own, but both are connected via the grander Chapter story you want to tell. Ending these partial chapter updates on a cliffhanger is a big no-no unless said partial update is actually part B and completes the whole Chapter. Maybe using part A as a narrative set up for a pay off in part B could yield positive results for content output and reception. Give it a thorough think over!

Mijo

Good point, I would have to restructure the chapters so that the two parts stand on their own as far as content and quality of content. Might take a bit of a think to make it work. Thanks.

Bobbyboy Productions

As long as every A and B release of every chapter feels like it meaningfully progresses the story forward, then feel free to try the method out for Chapter 6. But do be careful, as plenty of games take advantagr of these partial updates to the expense of the customer and the story told!
