April's Questline Monthly Theme Poll

Each month on the 15th we'll have a poll to vote on the theme for the upcoming edition of Questline Monthly. Please read the descriptions of each theme below and vote for your favorites down below! You can choose more than one theme if you'd like and keep in mind there can only be one winner! But don't worry, if your theme doesn't win it will carry over to the next month!

The poll will end on the 20th and the winner will be declared the chosen theme!

If you have an idea for a theme you'd like to see for a future compendium please let me know through Discord, Direct Message, or in the comments below! I'd love to hear your ideas! =)

Junkyard & Machine Theme - Medium Levels

The ruins of an ancient gnomish city have been discovered, buried within the depths of a mountain. The ruins were once the home to a technologically advanced gnomish race that has since vanished. Just outside the mountain, a small town has formed. Created from the scavenged remains of the ruined city itself. Scavengers delve into the city to extract the rare metals found with and search for secrets that the gnomish inhabitants took with them. Many of their mechanical creations still lie dormant within these ruins and some of these machines still roam the halls following the final commands of their long past creators.

(In this compendium I will create a rustic tech-themed location inspired by the dwarven remains in Skyrim. The Scavenged City will have a more “Mad Max” feeling, as people find new ways to repurpose the resources discovered from the city below. This compendium will include several machine-type monsters, items, and player options.)

Sewer Theme - Low Levels

A glorious city of marble streets and gold-laced architecture beams in the sunlight of this prestigious town. Hundreds flock to its gates to explore the vast markets, flavorful culture, and endless entertainment the city provides. However, the lavish lifestyle of the residents masks a foul secret hidden beneath the city.

The city maintains its immaculate appearance by enforcing a ruthless ultimatum. Anyone who fails to live up to their standards is sent to live beneath in the Undercity. Masked by this glamor of the city are the putrid sewers beneath the city. Miles of winding sewage channels weave together creating a labyrinth of vile tunnels. At the depths of those tunnels lies the Undercity. The home to hundreds of exiled or jailed residents from above, all who struggle to escape the Undercity and regain their place among the citizens above.

(In this compendium I will create a sewer-themed location and explain how society in such an environment would function. In this compendium, you would find goblin variants, ooze variants, acid & poison heavy themes, and a new vermin race.)

Mythological Theme - All Levels

Welcome to the Fabled Atheneum where patrons from all walks of life come to record myths from their culture. Hear their sacred tales that explain the world and the experiences of their ancestors. Some of these myths may have factual origins, while others are completely fictional. But myths are more than mere stories and they serve a more profound purpose throughout many cultures.

(In this compendium I will create monster stats for mythological creatures found throughout different real-world cultures. Focusing more on creatures that do not exist in official Fifth Edition content. Mythologies: Korean, Japanese, Aztec, Egyptian, Akkadian, Norse, etc.)

Arena Theme  - All Levels

The Kings Coliseum attracts those with a warrior’s mindset to its gates. It is here, that those with the determination to overcome challenges and adversity will reap the rewards. Those who prove themselves in the Kings' Coliseum will be granted the opportunity to face a Holder of the Crown and claim their spot as a ruler of the City of Strife.

(In this compendium I will create the City of Strife, a city where your social status is solely dependent on your ranking within the Kings Coliseum. Where those who are the strongest become Holders of the Crown and act as the governing body over the city itself. I will create a ranking system around the coliseum and explain what benefits each rank is given. Including, several new monsters, items, and mechanics to use within this coliseum or other arena-like locations.)

Comments

Hmmm I think this is an interesting concept. You’ve given me an idea that would work well for the junkyard/machine theme!

How about a mechanic where weapons can break and you can mix them together to get a different weapon? The ax head breaks off and a sword is broken in two. Weld the sword portion to the spot the ax head was and ... it would be stupid. Forget that example, but there has got to be a good mix out there somewhere.

Grumpy Teacher

Woooo!😄
