Travel Comics Sneak Peek!
Added 2019-12-10 09:48:13 +0000 UTCHere's a couple upcoming pages for my travel comics that I'm doing for POMEmag! We have a WIP page for Part 2 and a rough draft page for Part 3.
When I draw roughs for comic pages, I don't pay too close attention to where the text will actually end up. I just try to get all the ideas down on the paper! By the end of the process, the text moves around, or sometimes I get rid of the text completely! Often I add things in, or take things out.
If I was more precise with my roughs, I'm sure the inking would be faster. And it's probably a very good thing that I'm a one-woman show for these projects. I can't imagine handing off this monstrosity to a line artist or letterer!
Editors are good, though. They help me see the angel in the marble. Which is why this year I have really enjoyed working with editors! Between POME and Autostraddle, as well as a bunch of anthologies like Dirty Diamonds, I've had some great editors helping me grow a more critical eye with layout. Even my coworkers at Hiveworks are editors I can learn from, even if they aren't editing *my* work.
Maybe a goal for 2020 will be to have cleaner roughs!
