Man I really needed to hear this. I never finished my uni project for my final year and at the time I was SURE it would be my magnum opus, but the motivation to continue completely dissipated somewhere so I graduated with barely anything to show which felt really bad at the time. And I think your advice really hit the nail on the head — I was trying to achieve something too ambitious for my first attempt. I’m now working on an entirely new project, for myself more than others, and I’m letting myself chill out with it this time. It’s been so much more relieving and fun that way, and I’m trying to remind myself that I’m still young and have plenty of time to refine my skills and put myself out there. There’s a quote that always keeps my hopes up: Make it exist first. You can make it good later.

Idk why but the part about turning Third You's negative into a positive is what I needed to hear - thanks. In my own head it sounds cloying and stupid, but expressed by someone else (maybe because I'm not negative about others as I am internally) it just sounds true and matter-of-fact. Now how to do that without being boring and/or too personal...
