Jaune's Pineapple Jam 77

Someone asked me how do I make time to write when I'm so busy with my baby and my work. The answer is I don't. Time just finds me when it does. Time isn't linear for me anymore. It has been a cycle of working, feeding, burping, pooping, changing diapers, sleeping, and repeat. Despite that though, I try to sneak in small moments to write. This is a bit short but I hope you guys still like it.

Hopefully, now that the semester is about to end, I can have more time to myself. Anyways, see you next time and please leave a comment!

Time: 3:45 AM

Richard Bullson breathed heavily as he knelt on the ground with his hands cuffed behind his back.

He thought he could find Adam and stop him from making a mistake with those Huntresses but somewhere along the chaos, Atlas found him first.

They thought him a terrorist what with his Faunus features and him trying to slink away from them. In hindsight, it would have been better if he had pretended to be a civilian but alas, doing so would stop him from being able to find Adam.

Not that being a prisoner was any better.

He sighed disappointed before grunting when the Atlesian Specialist handling the drones around them roughly shoved him face first into the concrete.

"I won't ask again. What is the White Fang planning?"

"For the last time, I don't know! I just work for Vale's Post Office!" He gritted his teeth as a knee pushed in his back.

His chest suddenly felt tight even as he cursed the Specialist inside his mind.

No wonder so many of his brethren hated humans! It was a struggle even for him to keep to his principles and not blame an entire race for the crimes of one of them!

"Enough."

The voice coldly cut through the air and Richard finally managed to breathed when the Specialist lifted himself off of him.

"Yes, Ma'am!"

He heard the Specialist snap a crisp salute and as Richard turned his head, there she was.

Winter Schnee stood sternly with a glare on her face and her hands behind her back.

Blue eyes scanned his downed form but before either could say anything, a rumbling sound approached them.

At first, he thought it was more Grimm or even civilians fleeing towarda safety but he soon realized he was mistaken.

The sound was coming from the north where safety was.

He heard the sound of people coming before he saw them.

"Hey! We're here to help!"

He turned his head slowly to see a blonde monkey Faunus waving his hand at his direction just as the Atlesian drones whirled towards them.

"Stop right there!" The Specialist arresting him shouted, pointing a gun towards the monkey Faunus' direction.

Richard watched as the young man's hands automatically rose up.

"Woah! We're Huntsmen! In training that is but we're still here to help!"

Winter Schnee raised an eyebrow at that before sighing as she took note of more Huntsmen-in-training behind him.

"I was under the impression that you were supposed to be guarding the backlines."

"R-Right! But Professor Port and Captain Roger sent us ahead to clean up the Grimm once they started retreating!"

Retreating? The Grimm didn't retreat. Richard frowned as he turned towards the sky and the kid was right, Nevermores and Griffons alike flew southwards instead of north into the city.

Just what was happening?

Winter Schnee must have thought the same thing because she too looked up to observe the Grimm above them. None of them dived down towards their location even as Atlaseian drones and pilots engaged them high above the sky. Streaks of gunfire and lit up the night as the defenders of Vale harried the Grimm.

Before anyone else can speak however, another sound comes to them.

This time, it was from the south.

"Hey! Gentler! I said gentler!"

Richard sighed at the familiar voice and as everyone turned towards the source, Roman Torchwick came into view being carried by a grey-haired man.

And they were not alone.

"Winter!"

"Weiss!"

Streaks of white flew towards each other as the two sisters reunited.

It was a touching reunion by all measures with Winter Schnee's stern demeanor melting off of her face.

For Richard however, things were not so enjoyable as Roman Torchwick suddenly grinned at him.

"Rickard! Fancy seeing you here!" The thief waved a hand as Richard groaned at the looks thrown towards him.

"It's Richard." He said resignedly as the Atleasian who arrested him hauled him up.

"Not with the White Fang, huh?" The Specialist scoffed as Winter Schnee suddenly glared at him and Roman.

"Take them away!"

"Winter! We need your-" Weiss Schnee suddenly called out, pulling on her sister's arm to get her attention.

"Shhh, sister. It's okay-"

"No! We need to move now!" Another voice cut in, this time a red-haired woman stepped forward and beside her was a black-haired cat Faunus.

"Ms. Nikos. Ms. Belladonna." Winter Schnee nodded, prompting the Huntsmen-in-training to whisper around them as Richard turned the names in his thoughts as he looked at the cat Faunus.

Belladonna. Blake Belladonna, Adam's former lover.

She looked at him concernedly before shaking her head and turning towards Winter Schnee herself.

"Pyrrha's right. We need all the help you can give. Jaune is in trouble."

"Jaune? Jaune Arc?" Winter raised an eyebrow even as her sister nodded her head beside her.

"Winter, please! He lured the Grimm away from us so we can escape!"

"So he's the one we have to thank for this." Winter mutterred, looking up with furrowed brows at the Grimm flying away from them.

"Yes! Now can we please hurry up and help him?!" Blake Belladonna pleaded as Richard's eyes widened.

The Atlesian holding his arm suddenly jostled and turned towards Blake Belladonna.

"Watch how you speak-"

"YOU WATCH HOW YOU SPEAK TO MY FRIEND!" Weiss Schnee thundered, glaring at the Specialist who reeled back even as everyone else blinked.

A Schnee defending a Belladonna and calling her a friend? Richard never thought he would see the day but here it was.

Hope bloomed inside his heart at that.

For him, it was proof that there was hope that Human and Faunus can coexist together.

Winter Schnee sighed, turning towards the Huntsmen-in-training who just arrived and were eagerly looking at her.

"Alright, I suppose this is just as good a mission for you as any. Students you will-"

Before she could even finish her sentence, screams and gunfire sounded out from the distance.

This time, from the north.

All eyes snapped towards that particular direction as the students around them suddenly gulped nervously.

"What? There shouldn't be any Grimm there. We would have noticed them on the way here."

Winter Schnee's eyes narrowed.

"Either way, we need to get there, now!"

"But what about Jaune?!" Pyrrha Nikos asked worriedly and Winter Schnee only had to look at her sister's own pleading eyes to see the sentiment echoed within her.

Without hesitation, orders flew from her mouth.

"Ms. Nikos, take the other students and link up with Jaune Arc. Try to regroup with your classmates assigned to the Southern Wall."

"Right!"

"Weiss, Belladonna, you're with me."

"But-"

"No buts, Weiss. You are tired and injured. As you are now, you would be more of a liability in saving your friend."

Weiss Schnee opened and closed her mouth before nodding her head with a light blush on her face. "Friend, right."

Winter nodded, turning towards the students.

"You have your orders. Be safe and goodluck."

And with those words, she pulled him and Roman Torchwick with her south, unwittingly showing him what hell could look like.

"Fire! Fire! Fire!"

Another Grimm died as he shot it through the heart.

Captain Roger felt the tide of battle turn towards their favor when reports of Grimm heading out of the city instead of in came gushing out of their radios.

Captain Roger didn't know what was luring them out but he wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth. He was just happy that they didn't have to take as much Grimm as before.

Brothers know that his department was underequipped to take on a Grimm horde.

Still, they weren't out of the woods just yet. The occasional Grimm still went towards them in pursuit of panicking civilians instead of going out with the rest of their brood.

"Kill them all! Don't let them get through!" He ordered, looking down to reload his gun and next time he looked up, civilians littered the ground.

Damn it. It was hard enough to shoot over their heads, the Grimm must have reached them before one of his officers managed to kill the Grimm off.

He heard one of his officers vomit to the aude even as he glared into the distance, waiting for the next wave of Grimm to test their defensive line or civilians to reach safety with them.

Captain Roger knew that even one Beowolf being able to slip past through them because of negligence could wreck havoc on a group of hapless civilians just like what just happened here.

Such an event would be catastrophic and unacceptable so he ordered his officers to be vigilant even as he sent the students ahead to clear the way.

It was supposed to make life easier with the veteran Huntsman, Peter Port, even agreeing and finding it safe enough to head deeper into the city with the wounded to debrief his injured colleague.

Alas, things just became harder for them as minutes after sending the students away, Captain Roger found their position being assaulted by Grimm.

He didn't know how the Grimm managed to slip past by them in such numbers but he didn't have enough time to think on it before screaming reached his ears again.

He was just about to raise his gun towards a Beowolf trailing a group of approaching civilians when a voice called out to him.

"But Captain Roger-"

He tried to maintain his focus but it was too late, his eyes already flicked to the side to see who was calling him.

It was Ramirez, one of his officers he sent to the sewer systems to hold off the Grimm there.

"What are you waiting for, lieutenant?! They're monsters! Kill them all!"

His eyes immediately snapped back towards the Grimm chasing the civilians only to find it gone and a Faunus running through its previous place. Someone must have taken care of it in the second he wasn't looking. Whoever did it must have been a good shot and Roger was inclined to promote him if he figured out which of his officers did so.

Alas, that was for later because Ramirez was suddenly being stabbed in the back.

Captain Roger's eyes widened as his lieutenant died, pushed to the side by a feral Faunus with webbed fingers.

"What the fuck?!" He shouted, slapping a grasping hand away from him with the butt of his gun.

His thoughts ran a mile a minute even as the young man roared at him.

Faunus, attacking him with the Grimm? Captain Roger could only come to one conclusion.

"The White Fang!" He roared back as his fist flew up into an uppercut.

Location: Vale's Southern Residential District.

Time: 3:50 AM

"The White Fang!"

He knew his actions would out him. Deery told him they would but he had no more time to think on it because his head snapped upward from the sudden uppercut.

What meager Aura he had left flashed to protect his body before breaking away like glass.

He reeled back in pain before shaking his head and clenching his fist at the dagger he used to kill the other policeman.

Already, he could hear the other officers shouting in alarm just before his brothers and sisters in arms pounced on them.

"I never thought the White Fang would stoop so low as to use Grimm to attack innocent civilians." The Police Captain he was facing glared as he reloaded his pistol while Perry gritted his teeth.

How dare he?

"Innocent? There is nothing innocent about any of you!" He screamed as he took the opportunity before his opponent could fully reload.

He just about managed one step forward before he felt a foot on his chest. His breath flew with his body at the sudden kick and the next time he blinked, he was facing up towards the dark sky.

He tried to scramble back up but screamed as he felt a bullet enter his leg.

"Fuuuck!" He screamed as he tearily looked down at his bleeding leg.

Fuck! Fuck! Fuckity fuck! Fuck!

"You're a monster." The Captain said as Perry saw him aim his smoking pistol at him.

This is it. He was going to die here. His strength left him at that and Perry cpuldn't help but lay back on the ground with tears in his eyes. His Aura was broken. He was tired and injured from hours of fighting and running. He had nothing left.

All he had was hope that his actions here would allow more of his brethren to survive. Already, he could hear screams of pain and shouts of anger from the Faunus and other police officers around them.

He closed his eyes, a tear slipping through as for a moment, Deery's face appeared in his mind. Her expression, contorted in fear just like when they both heard what was happening to their people.

There was nothing he could do now.

Frustration welled up in his heart. Close, they were so so close from surviving this night and reaching safety.

They already managed to sneak past through Huntsmem and police officers alike. All they needed to do was blend into the crowd and melt away once morning came and the Grimm were pushed back.

Yet when the screams started, he couldn't help but run back when he heard what was happening.

"They're shooting the Faunus! The poloce are shooting the Faunus!"

Gasps and mutters started even from the humans with them but he was already moving.

Many ran with him and all of them knew the danger they were about to face. Deery held onto him for a second before letting him go with pain in her eyes.

She understood him.

And he understood her.

"You're the monster here." He couldn't help but mutter in one last show of defiance.

There must have been something in his voice because the police captain stopped and growled at him.

"What the fuck are you talking about?"

Perry opened his eyes to see the police captain scowling at him and he couldn't help but laugh hysterically at that.

"You really don't see it, do you? Look around you, human. Whoever could fire upon a crowd fleeing the Grimm is a monster. You're the monster here."

The man's eyes widened before he suddenly turned around.

That display lit a fire back under him.

Perry scoffed, getting the man's attention on him again.

"You can't fool me with the fake surprise in your face. You knew what you were. You killed them. You killed my brothers. You killed my sisters. And now you're going to kill me. The least you could do is look me in the eyes and not pretend to care!" He shouted with one last burst of energy before the pain in his leg reminded him of the suffering he was under.

He winced, even as the man looked at him in fear. Perry could only glare however, when he began to pale.

"Just do it! Here I am! Just fucking do-"

Bang!

-------
"Just do it! Here I am! Just fucking do-"

Bang!

Captain Roger felt the bullet hit him in the neck.

It wasn't enough to kill him but with him already shaken from the truth, he couldn't help but stumble as he felt it hard to breathe.

He fell to his hands and knees as sweat dropped from his forehead. His gun, dropped to the side as Captain Roger felt like he couldn't look at it.

People were dead because of him. Civilians. Men, women, and even the children. He killed them all.

How? He could have sworn he was shooting at Grimm! Not people! Never people!

Was it all just an illusion?! A hallucination?! Just what was real and what was not?!

He felt his thoughts were muddled but as he looked up towards the Faunus for an explanation, the young man only looked at him in surprise and a name on his lips.

"Adam."

When Captain Roger turned around, all he saw was red as a sword swung down towards him.

This time, the blade broke through his Aura and bit into his neck. His vision flew up to the sky before falling down and all he saw was the ground and the boots of the man who killed him.

-------

"For the White Fang!" Adam screamed, as he raised the decapitated head of the Police Captain.

He grinned as numerous other Faunus took up the call and renewed the slaughter. The police, seeing that their captain was dead, started to break under the pressure and it wasn't long before resistance was futile and they slowly died one by one as his brothers and sisters in arms swarmed them.

He couldn't tarry however because he knew that it wouldn't be long before the Huntsmen-in-training he slipped pass through with Emerald's help returned because if the noise they made here.

"Adam." He heard his name from Perry's lips and he smiled as he stretched his hand towards him.

"Get up, soldier. We are leaving."

"I would but I have a bullet in me." Perry chuckled before waving at his bleeding leg.

Adam only ruefully shook his head at that before bending down and ripping a portion of his coat and using it as a bandage. "Come, Perry. Tis but a flesh wound."

"Thanks, boss." Perry sighed, wincing as Adam stood up and raised him up with him. "Where's LT? Did you manage to link up with Richard? Deery told him he went out to look for you."

That's when Adam paused, choosing his words before ultimately deciding on the truth. "LT died and Richard was captured by Atlas."

He could still remember LT's severed head inside the train and Richard's prone body heldy down by a Specialist.

Oh how he wanted to save his comrade but before he could, he saw Winter Schnee arrive. Any conflict them now in his state would result in her victory and so he bit his lip in frustration amd continued on to save what he could.

And save he did for Perry was alive here with him instead of dead in the hands of the police captain he just killed.

"Damn." Perry cursed but Adam only continued forward, carrying an arm over his shoulder as their brethren started to converge around them.

"We need to melt with the crowd." He ordered even as he heard protests around him.

As much as he wanted to fight too, he knew they were in no shape to do anything monumental. Especially not with the numbers and state they were in.

"I know the fire runs hot inside of you! You've seen our enemy. You've seen the lengths they go to." He started, waving his one free hand towards the carnage around them.

Faunus and human alike littered the ground around them and while it lit his brethren's blood hotter, it also got their attention. "Those we faced here were only a fraction of our enemy! And while we have prevailed, we did not leave unscathed!"

Shame and grief overcame the features as more than one of their number fell against the police. Still, Adam wasn't done yet. He has lit the fire under them, he has shown them the cost, it was time to give them direction.

"Now is not the time to waste all our strength here! Now is the time to train! To gather our strength! And to let our people know what has happened here! For when the time is right, we will strike!" He raised his hand, closing it into fist as his brothers and sisters in arms looked at him with wide eyes. "For the White Fang! For the Faunus!"

"""For the White Fang! For the Faunus!"""

He grinned as they took up the call. He knew Emerald was recording this and he was happy to let her. It would serve as a record. A reminder of what happened here today.

For as much as how he lost Blake and some comrades, he gained a blooded force ready to follow him.

His eyes narrowed however when shots whizzed above their heads. No one was hit but while his followers dove for cover, Adam knew the truth.

It was Emerald sending him a signal. Enemy reinforcements were here.

"Everyone scatter! Lie low! Hide with the populace if you have to! We meet at Point Bravo!" He shouted, carrying Perry with him as every single one of them ran deeper into the city.

He knew for a fact that anyone following after them would take the time to examine the scene and look for survivors, giving them more time to hide but Adam couldn't help but look back and make sure.

Jist as theybrounded the corner however, he saw their pursuers.

Winter Schnee arrived on the scene, observing the bodies and yet his eyes were stuck to one person.

Blake. He didn't doubt she would survive the situation he put them through. She always was good at running away when things get tough.

It doesn't seem like she had seen him however as he and Perry hid around a corner while she was too focused at the macabre display of bodies.

He breathed deeply. The sight of her still sending pangs of pain through his chest.

It seems even now that he has decided to cleave himself away from her, she haunts her still. This time with Schnees on her side.

He pursed her lips, continuing forward again as Perry began to look curiously at him.

Still, he didn't see that damnable man Jaune Arc with Blake.

Was he dead?

Adam smirked at that thought.

---------

Location: Unknown

Time: Unknown

Jaune Arc woke up to the sight of a glaring Winter Schnee raising a small sword.

"You're dead, Arc!"

"Sister, no!"

Weiss came flying out of nowhere, tackling her sister to the ground even as Jaune struggled to make sense of what was happening.

He felt a hand grab his and as Jaune looked to the side, he saw Blake smiling wryly at him.

"Blake? What's happening?" He muttered as he felt a blinding headache suddenly assault his mind.

He winced at the pain but powered through as Blake laughed nervously.

He narrowed his eyes, Blake never laughed like that. And there was still the two Schnee sisters tangling on the floor somewhere around him.

"I'll kill you, Arc! I'll gut you like a-mmph!"

"Winteeeer!"

Jaune looked away from the sight of Weiss stradling her sister and putting both hands in her mouth even as a knife waved wildly behind her back.

At the very least, things did not look normal even for him.

"Blake?" He repeated, his eyes flicking around him to see a familiar room.

He was in Beacon. Beacon's infirmary to be exact, but why he was here.....no, he knew why he was here.

Aura High.

Memories of the battle started to fill his head, adding to the headache even as Blake squirmed uncomfortably beside him.

"Where's Pyrrha?" He asked.

He was in the infirmary. If there was someone he expected to be here other than his girlfriend then it would also be his other girlfriend and partner.

While she could just be busy, Jaune was still curious where she was.

His question is answered however when Blake pulled her hand away from his and fished out her Scroll.

"I believe it is best that you see it for yourself."

His eyes blew wide open as there his partner was, blushing in a press conference with his teammates, Professor Goodwitch, and Headmaster Ozpin beside her.

Behind her however, stood a screen showing him kissing Blake, Weiss, and Pyrrha on repeat.

"Fuck."

Suddenly, everything made sense now. Blake's demeanor and the Schnees behavior.

He looked to the side to see what they were doing only to see Winter Schnee continuing to throw out curses with her eyes from past Weiss' shoulder.

"Mmph! Mmpppp!"

"Fuck." He repeated.
